The integrative approaches based on multi-criteria decision making models under uncertain condition for capital budgeting by considering the quality criteria: A case study in Industry and mine bank of Kurdestan province

This study presented an approach for selection, priority and budget assignment to industrial investment projects being based on group decision-making in multi-criteria decision making under uncertainty condition. In this approach, at first the indices and effective quality criteria on selection of industrial investment projects were identified via library studies and interview with the experts. Then, by fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and the comments of experts group, the relative importance of these criteria to each other was determined. To evaluate the existing alternatives as the available industrial projects for investment, fuzzy linear assignment was applied and finally the proposed approach was used in a case study in the industry and mine bank of Kurdistan province

Achievable hierarchies in voting games with abstention

It is well known that he influence relation orders the voters the same way as the classical Banzhaf and Shapley-Shubik indices do when they are extended to the voting games with abstention (VGA) in the class of complete games. Moreover, all hierarchies for the influence relation are achievable in the class of complete VGA. The aim of this paper is twofold. Firstly, we show that all hierarchies are achievable in a subclass of weighted VGA, the class of weighted games for which a single weight is assigned to voters. Secondly, we conduct a partial study of achievable hierarchies within the subclass of H-complete games, that is, complete games under stronger versions of influence relation. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.V. Vector like gauge theories with almost massless fermions on the lattice

A truncation of the overlap (domain wall fermions) is studied and a criterion for reliability of the approximation is obtained by comparison to the exact overlap formula describing massless quarks. We also present a truncated version of regularized, pure gauge, supersymmetric models. The mechanism for generating almost masslessness is shown to be a generalized see-saw which can also be viewed as a version of Froggatt-Nielsen's method for obtaining natural large mass hierarchies. Viewed in this way the mechanism preserving the mass hierarchy naturally avoids preserving even approximately axial U(1). The new insights into the source of the mass hierarchy suggest ways to increase the efficiency of numerical simulations of QCD employing the truncated overlap.Comment: 35 pages, TeX, 4 figures using eps

Culture Rules: The Foundations of the Rule of Law and Other Norms of Governance

This study presents evidence about relations between national culture and social institutions. We operationalize culture with data on cultural dimensions for over 50 nations adopted from cross-cultural psychology and generate testable hypotheses about three basic social norms of governance: the rule of law, corruption, and accountability. These norms correlate systematically and strongly with national scores on cultural dimensions and also differ across cultural regions of the world. Regressions indicate that quantitative measures of national culture are alone remarkably predictive of governance, that economic inequality and British heritage add to predictive power, but that economic development and other factors add little. The results suggest a framework for understanding the relations between fundamental institutions of social order as well as policy implications for reform programs in transition economies.http://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/39991/3/wp605.pd

Estimating sample representativeness in a survey of stream caddisfly fauna

Obtaining an adequate and representative sample is a continuing challenge of community ecology. The present study focuses on what sample area represents adequately the structural composition of the caddisfly fauna of a riffle, at a given sampling occasion. Sixty-two Surber samples were collected from a riffle in a second-order reach of the Bernecei Stream (Börzsöny Mountains, Hungary). This data set was used to estimate sample representativeness at different sample sizes (from 1 to 31 Surber samples, 0.09 m2 - 2.79 m2) generated a re-sampling procedure. Sample representativeness was measured with mean Jaccard Coefficient and Bray-Curtis Index between samples for species presence-absence data and abundance data, respectively. We found that a sample size of 2.25 m2 represented well (mean similarity 0.998) the species composition of the caddisfly fauna if rare species were excluded from the analysis. In contrast, sample representativeness of species composition proved to be relatively low (0.719) if rare species were included in the analysis. Curves of sample representativeness based on both raw-, or transformed abundance data were less sensitive to the presence of rare species and showed lower representativeness than sample representativeness based on presence/absence data
