Passing the Torch: Continuation of the South Carolina Libraries Journal

In this article, The South Carolina Libraries Editorial Board discusses the history and rebuilding of the South Carolina Libraries journal, the official publication of the South Carolina Library Association (SCLA). As the journal adjusted in response to community needs, changes in the Editorial Board, the publication cycle, and peer review process were made to expand and enhance the functionality, appearance, and content of the journal. The Editorial Board reviews strategies for library community members – including practitioners, research faculty, and LIS students – to become involved as a part of the publication through authoring, book reviewing, peer reviewing, or artwork for future issues

Introduction

Dear Readers,After a long break caused, on the one hand, by staff changes in the Editorial Board and, on the other, by the lingering coronavirus pandemic, another issue of the Ignatianum Philosophical Yearbook is coming out. The new editorial team has decided to expand the journal’s formula to include texts from the general humanities; thus, there will be articles not only on philosophy, but also on history, cultural and religious studies, and theology, on top of Polish and foreign literature. The journal is also open to a wide range of issues that take into account the mission of the Jesuit University Ignatianum as a Catholic research center. An important element of this approach is the issue of the Mediterranean civilizational tradition and cultural heritage, which in our understanding are the most important sources of knowledge and inspiration for the study of contemporary problems of individual people, societies and states as well

‘SOCIAL WORK’ JOURNAL – THE LAST DECADE (1980-1990)

Autorica obrađuje priloge posljednjeg desetljeća izlaženja časopisa »Socijalni rad«. U svom posljednjem desetljeću izlaženja sve više prerasta u suvremeni znanstveni časopis područja socijalnih djelatnosti. Analizira se dinamika izlaženja, kategorizacija članaka, teme priloga, autorstvo članaka, promjene uredništva. U tekstu se posebno analizira novi volumen 1986.-87. od kojeg i počinju nove kvalitativne promjene.The author analyses the contributions of the last decade in which the journal ‘Social Work’ was published. In its last decade of publishing, the journal grew into a modern scientific journal in the area of social activities. The dynamics of publishing, categorisation of articles, topics of the contributions, authorship of articles and changes in the editorial board are analysed. The text particularly analyses the volume 1986-87, with which the qualitative changes began

The Internal Politics of Journal Editing

I have been invited to write an essay on my experiences as founder and editor of the Cambridge University Press journal, Macroeconomic Dynamics. I have decided to focus the essay on my experiences in starting up the journal. Few economists, who have not themselves started up a new journal, are aware of the nature of the process and its sometimes very complicated academic politics.
