Information Inflation: Can The Legal System Adapt?
Information is fundamental to the legal system. Accordingly, lawyers must understand that information, as a cultural and technological edifice, has profoundly and irrevocably changed. There has been a civilization- wide morph, or pulse, or one might say that information has evolved. This article discusses the new inflationary dynamic, which has caused written information to multiply by as much as ten thousand-fold recently. The resulting landscape has stressed the legal system and indeed, it is becoming prohibitively expensive for lawyers even to search through information. This is particularly true in litigation
Feasibility study of an Integrated Program for Aerospace vehicle Design (IPAD) Volume 7: IPAD benefits and impact
The potential benefits, impact and spinoff of IPAD technology are described. The benefits are projected from a flowtime and labor cost analysis of the design process and a study of the flowtime and labor cost savings being experienced with existing integrated systems. Benefits in terms of designer productivity, company effectiveness, and IPAD as a national resource are developed. A description is given of the potential impact of information handling as an IPAD technology, upon task and organization structure and people who use IPAD. Spinoff of IPAD technology to nonaerospace industries is discussed. The results of a personal survey made of aerospace, nonaerospace, government and university sources are given
Engineering and Scientific Data Management
The application of data management systems to engineering and scientific data is described
Feasibility study of an Integrated Program for Aerospace vehicle Design (IPAD). Volume 1B: Concise review
Reports on the design process, support of the design process, IPAD System design catalog of IPAD technical program elements, IPAD System development and operation, and IPAD benefits and impact are concisely reviewed. The approach used to define the design is described. Major activities performed during the product development cycle are identified. The computer system requirements necessary to support the design process are given as computational requirements of the host system, technical program elements and system features. The IPAD computer system design is presented as concepts, a functional description and an organizational diagram of its major components. The cost and schedules and a three phase plan for IPAD implementation are presented. The benefits and impact of IPAD technology are discussed
The enhancement of collaborative learning through integrated knowledge management systems: E-learning model
There are still a few educational platforms that apply a Knowledge Management System (KMS) concept in
conducting its operational work. In addition, several obstacles associated with e-learning implementation
trigger the in-effectiveness of collaborative learning. However, the concept of Knowledge Management (KM)
from a Sharia perspective has significant implications for education systems. This research, therefore,
explored the relevance of the Learning Management System (LMS), KM theory, and Sharia education
perspective on the development of the Integrated Knowledge Management System (IKMS) Framework. The
IKMS components and structures are literature reviewed and then qualitatively justified through the focus
group discussion which involved some students, lectures, and experts from two Sharia-based Universities in
Indonesia. To verify and test the framework, an IKMS-Edu system was developed by focusing on the
adoption of a controlling agent system in the online discussion. Herein, filtering and summarization
technology was embedded into IKMS-Edu towards a smart controlling agent. This agent adopted the
operational work of IKMS-Edu framework leveraging in four constructs activities viz., knowledge creation
and knowledge acquisition (construct 1), knowledge organization and knowledge storage (construct 2),
knowledge dissemination and knowledge retrieval (construct 3), and knowledge evaluation and feedback
(construct 4). To date, the statistical evaluation of the IKMS-Edu system’s acceptance is conducted by
disseminating the questionnaires. The mean scores revealed 40.45% of the respondents strongly agreed, and
42.18% agreed on the proposed framework and prototype system thus the framework aided in performing the
IKMS during the collaborative learning activities. As such, this evidence provides the strong support that
IKMS-Edu significantly enhanced the effectiveness of collaborative learning by considering the Sharia values
of trust, knowledge, virtue, psychosocial, and civilization development into knowledge management
activities
Development of the engineering design integration (EDIN) system: A computer aided design development
The EDIN (Engineering Design Integration) System which provides a collection of hardware and software, enabling the engineer to perform man-in-the-loop interactive evaluation of aerospace vehicle concepts, was considered. Study efforts were concentrated in the following areas: (1) integration of hardware with the Univac Exec 8 System; (2) development of interactive software for the EDIN System; (3) upgrading of the EDIN technology module library to an interactive status; (4) verification of the soundness of the developing EDIN System; (5) support of NASA in design analysis studies using the EDIN System; (6) provide training and documentation in the use of the EDIN System; and (7) provide an implementation plan for the next phase of development and recommendations for meeting long range objectives
Improvements in IDS: adding functionality to Wazuh
Traballo Fin de Grao en EnxeñarÃa Informática. Curso 2018-2019Cybersecurity nowadays is very complex: there are many sub-fi elds and expert
tools and it could be argued that it is impossible to guarantee that any system is
totally safe. In this project we put ourselves in the shoes of a system administrator
for an enterprise, that wants to improve the security by detecting intrusions
in the servers he works on. This is key to decide which technologies and tools we
choose in this project
