Good Practices in Evaluating Tertiary PVE Programs: InFoEx Workshop, Berlin, September 19-20, 2019
The transnational dimension of violent extremism calls for a comprehensive approach to prevention. International exchange of knowledge is crucial to enable an effective response. In addition, while more and more countries have increasingly focused on the prevention of violent extremism (PVE) (as opposed to purely repressive counter terrorism measures), actors need to be able to understand and demonstrate which measures work as well as how and why they do
Rockefeller Brothers Fund Charles E. Culpeper Arts and Culture Grants Impact Assessment
Fulfilling the assignment received from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF), NEXT: Transition Advisors and AKA|Strategy present their review of the RBF's Charles E. Culpeper Arts and Culture Grants. After 11 years of funding arts and culture in New York City, the Culpeper grants were ready for review, according to the assessment protocol established by the RBF for all its program areas. NEXT and AKA, which specialize in transition and strategy studies for nonprofit institutions, present this review with respect for the RBF, its accomplishments, and its dedication over time to support of the nonprofit sector, including arts and culture. The review aims to situate and evaluate the activities of the Culpeper grants within the RBF's overall portfolio and within its field, and to bring to the surface questions and significant issues that should be addressed at its decade mark

Education Needs Assessment for Kisumu City, Kenya
The current needs assessment report takes stock of recent achievements in the education sector and highlights remaining challenges that need to be addressed in order for Kisumu to achieve the United National Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by the target date of 2015, which means ensuring that all children have access to primary education and reducing gender disparities at every level. Data and information gathered during the mission indicate that the demand for education in Kisumu has surged since the introduction of free primary education (FPE) in 2003 and that there has been progress towards greater parity between boys and girls at the primary school level. However, this needs assessment finds that the city still faces several challenges that threaten to undermine the attainment of the MDGs in education
âTribes TLCâ: Teacher education studentsâ perceptions
Tribes TLC is a process rather than a programme per se that aims to facilitate interactive learning and assist in the engendering of a positive classroom climate. Devised in the USA and imported into a number of contexts internationally, uptake in Australia has been considerable. Thirty second and third year Bachelor of Education students undertook the training hosted by Cooloongalup Primary School prior to participating in a ten week practicum. Data pertaining to the Tribes TLC resource was collected prior to the training phase, post training, and at the conclusion of the practicum. This paper reports the perceptions of students regarding the nature of Tribes TLC as a resource, their participation in the training, and the value of Tribes training for practicum purposes. Further, insights gleaned regarding the transportability of the resource into other international Teacher Education contexts are discussed

Social Investment and Territorial Inequalities: Mapping Policies and Services in the Baltic States
Drawing on recent research perspectives, the book discusses how social investment policies could be responsive to territorial inequalities in terms of better policy coordination, capacities, and institutional infrastructuresâ adaptability to territorial needs. By combining theoretical notions about territorial cohesion, territorial development, and social investment, the book provides an argument for the âterritorialization of social investment policyâ in the case of Lithuania. The contributions of various authors encourage a different way of looking at the territorial sensitivity of welfare policy strategies implemented in advantaged developing areas and those which are disadvantaged peripheral territories
