The arity gap of order-preserving functions and extensions of pseudo-Boolean functions

    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to classify order-preserving functions according to their arity gap. Noteworthy examples of order-preserving functions are so-called aggregation functions. We first explicitly classify the Lov\'asz extensions of pseudo-Boolean functions according to their arity gap. Then we consider the class of order-preserving functions between partially ordered sets, and establish a similar explicit classification for this function class.Comment: 11 pages, material reorganize

Meaningful aggregation functions mapping ordinal scales into an ordinal scale: a state of the art

    Get PDF
We present an overview of the meaningful aggregation functions mapping ordinal scales into an ordinal scale. Three main classes are discussed, namely order invariant functions, comparison meaningful functions on a single ordinal scale, and comparison meaningful functions on independent ordinal scales. It appears that the most prominent meaningful aggregation functions are lattice polynomial functions, that is, functions built only on projections and minimum and maximum operations

    Orness For Idempotent Aggregation Functions

Aggregation functions are mathematical operators that merge given data in order to obtain a global value that preserves the information given by the data as much as possible. In most practical applications, this value is expected to be between the infimum and the supremum of the given data, which is guaranteed only when the aggregation functions are idempotent. Ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operators are particular cases of this kind of function, with the particularity that the obtained global value depends on neither the source nor the expert that provides each datum, but only on the set of values. They have been classified by means of the ornessa measurement of the proximity of an OWA operator to the OR-operator. In this paper, the concept of orness is extended to the framework of idempotent aggregation functions defined both on the real unit interval and on a complete lattice with a local finiteness condition. This work has been partially supported by the research projects MTM2015-63608-P of the Spanish Government and IT974-16 of the Basque Government
