Findings: The Findings indicate that application of RFID technology leads to improved manufacturing efficiency and manufacturing effectiveness, while improvement in efficiency lead directly to improved organizational performance, and improvements in effectiveness lead directly to improved supply chain performance. Practical Implications: Certain policy implications and obligations accrue are companies that use RFID technology in their supply order to manage the company more efficiently. Originality/Value: The publication presents the results of research carried out in enterprises using the new RFID system as a modern technique of supporting supply chain management to increase the efficiency of cooperation throughout the entire supply chain.peer-reviewe

On two-echelon inventory systems with Poisson demand and lost sales

We derive approximations for the service levels of two-echelon inventory systems with lost sales and Poisson demand. Our method is simple and accurate for a very broad range of problem instances, including cases with both high and low service levels. In contrast, existing methods only perform well for limited problem settings, or under restrictive assumptions.\u

A TSSA algorithm based approach to enhance the performance of warehouse system

In this plethora of increased competitiveness and globalization the effective management of the warehouse system is a challenging task. Realizing that proper scheduling of the warehouses is necessary to outperform the competitors on cost, lead time, and customer service basis (Koster, 1998); the proposed research focuses on optimization of warehouse scheduling problems. This research aims to minimize the total tardiness so that the overall time involved in managing the inventory inside the warehouse could be effectively reduced. This research also deals with the vehicle routing issues in the warehousing scenario and considers various constraints, and decision variables, directly influencing the undertaken objective so as to make the model more realistic to the real world environment. The authors have also proposed a hybrid tabu sample-sort simulated annealing (TSSA) algorithm to reduce the tardiness as well as to enhance the performance of the warehousing system. The proposed TSSA algorithm inherits the merits of the tabu search and sample-sort annealing algorithm. The comparative analysis of the results of the TSSA algorithm with other algorithms such as simulated annealing (SA), tabu search (TS), and hybrid tabu search algorithms indicates its superiority over others, both in terms of computational time as well as total tardiness reduction

Lean and agile principles have attracted considerable interest in the past few decades. Industrial sectors throughout the world are upgrading to these principles to enhance their performance, since they have been proven to be efficient in handling supply chains. However, the present market trend demands a more robust strategy incorporating the salient features of both lean and agile principles. Inspired by these, the leagility principle has emerged, encapsulating both lean and agile features. The present work proposes a leagile supply chain based model for manufacturing industries. The paper emphasizes the various aspects of leagile supply chain modeling and implementation and proposes a new Hybrid Chaos-based Fast Genetic Tabu Simulated Annealing (CFGTSA) algorithm to solve the complex scheduling problem prevailing in the leagile environment. The proposed CFGTSA algorithm is compared with the GA, SA, TS and Hybrid Tabu SA algorithms to demonstrate its efficacy in handling complex scheduling problems

Recently, the growth of business value of 3PL in Indonesia increases from year to year. It can be seen from the growth of 15% of 3PL value business in 2014, which equals to US170billionfromthepreviousyear,2013,whichhasreachedUS 170 billion from the previous year, 2013, which has reached US 150 billion or equals to IDR 1,772 trillion (Asosiasi Logistik Indonesia, 2014). As the business, trading, production are growing, the needs of 3PL are also increasing. 3PL industries are faced with the growing interest in their services, thus they have to deal with the increased competition as well. They compete to serve the best logistics service quality to attract and grab more customers. It has become a concern for 3PL or logistics service provider to improve the logistics service quality and to increase the competitiveness. Improving the logistics service quality does not only aim to get more profit, but also to engage more with the customers, to satisfy and to increase the loyalty of the customers. With this strategy, a 3PL company can be more sustain in the competition. Besides trying to increase the competitiveness by improving the logistics service quality, a 3PL company is required to run its business and provide a service in an efficient way. This research aims to propose strategy in increasing the logistics service quality and mitigating the risks in PT. Tiga Permata Logistik and PT. Tiga Permata Ekspres. This research applies House of Risk (HOR) in evaluating the risks or problems occurred in logistics service quality and generating the strategy required to improve the logistics service quality that will be provided by PT. Tiga Permata Logistik and PT. Tiga Permata Ekspres. The result of HOR I and the use of Pareto concepts shows that there are 12 critical risk agents and 3 critical indicator problems to be prioritized. Based on these critical risk agents and indicator problems, the improvement strategy is developed. The result of HOR II shows that there are 28 improvement strategies that can be implemented. These strategies used to increase Logistics Service Quality (LSQ) indicator and mitigate risks that potentially occur in this company

Over the past few years growing global competition has forced the manufacturing industries to upgrade their old production strategies with the modern day approaches. As a result, recent interest has been developed towards finding an appropriate policy that could enable them to compete with others, and facilitate them to emerge as a market winner. Keeping in mind the abovementioned facts, in this paper the authors have proposed an integrated process planning and scheduling model inheriting the salient features of outsourcing, and leagile principles to compete in the existing market scenario. The paper also proposes a model based on leagile principles, where the integrated planning management has been practiced. In the present work a scheduling problem has been considered and overall minimization of makespan has been aimed. The paper shows the relevance of both the strategies in performance enhancement of the industries, in terms of their reduced makespan. The authors have also proposed a new hybrid Enhanced Swift Converging Simulated Annealing (ESCSA) algorithm, to solve the complex real-time scheduling problems. The proposed algorithm inherits the prominent features of the Genetic Algorithm (GA), Simulated Annealing (SA), and the Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC). The ESCSA algorithm reduces the makespan significantly in less computational time and number of iterations. The efficacy of the proposed algorithm has been shown by comparing the results with GA, SA, Tabu, and hybrid Tabu-SA optimization methods
