Comprehensive review on controller for leader-follower robotic system
985-1007This paper presents a comprehensive review of the leader-follower robotics system. The aim of this paper is to find and elaborate on the current trends in the swarm robotic system, leader-follower, and multi-agent system. Another part of this review will focus on finding the trend of controller utilized by previous researchers in the leader-follower system. The controller that is commonly applied by the researchers is mostly adaptive and non-linear controllers. The paper also explores the subject of study or system used during the research which normally employs multi-robot, multi-agent, space flying, reconfigurable system, multi-legs system or unmanned system. Another aspect of this paper concentrates on the topology employed by the researchers when they conducted simulation or experimental studies
Optimized state feedback regulation of 3DOF helicopter system via extremum seeking
In this paper, an optimized state feedback regulation of a 3 degree of freedom (DOF) helicopter is designed via extremum seeking (ES) technique. Multi-parameter ES is applied to optimize the tracking performance via tuning State Vector Feedback with Integration of the Control Error (SVFBICE).
Discrete multivariable version of ES is developed to minimize a cost function that measures the performance of the controller. The cost function is a function of the error between the actual and desired axis positions. The controller parameters are updated online as the optimization takes place. This method significantly decreases the time in obtaining optimal controller parameters. Simulations were conducted for the online optimization under both fixed and varying operating conditions. The results demonstrate the usefulness of using ES for preserving the maximum attainable performance

Invited Review: Recent developments in vibration control of building and bridge structures
This paper presents a state-of-the-art review of recent articles published on active, passive, semi-active and hybrid vibration control systems for structures under dynamic loadings primarily since 2013. Active control systems include active mass dampers, active tuned mass dampers, distributed mass dampers, and active tendon control. Passive systems include tuned mass dampers (TMD), particle TMD, tuned liquid particle damper, tuned liquid column damper (TLCD), eddy-current TMD, tuned mass generator, tuned-inerter dampers, magnetic negative stiffness device, resetting passive stiffness damper, re-entering shape memory alloy damper, viscous wall dampers, viscoelastic dampers, and friction dampers. Semi-active systems include tuned liquid damper with floating roof, resettable variable stiffness TMD, variable friction dampers, semi-active TMD, magnetorheological dampers, leverage-type stiffness controllable mass damper, semi-active friction tendon. Hybrid systems include shape memory alloys-liquid column damper, shape memory alloy-based damper, and TMD-high damping rubber
Nonlinear Time-Frequency Control of Permanent Magnet Electrical Machines
Permanent magnet (PM) electrical machines have been widely adopted in
industrial applications due to their advantages such as easy to control, compact in size,
low in power loss, and fast in response, to name only a few. Contemporary control
methods specifically designed for the control of PM electrical machines only focus on
controlling their time-domain behaviors while completely ignored their frequency-domain
characteristics. Hence, when a PM electrical machine is highly nonlinear, none of them
performs well.
To make up for the drawback and hence improve the performance of PM electrical
machines under high nonlinearity, the novel nonlinear time-frequency control concept is
adopted to develop viable nonlinear control schemes for PM electrical machines. In this
research, three nonlinear time-frequency control schemes are developed for the speed and
position control of PM brushed DC motors, speed and position control of PM synchronous
motors, and chaos suppression of PM synchronous motors, respectively. The most
significant feature of the demonstrated control schemes are their ability in generating a
proper control effort that controls the system response in both the time and frequency
domains. Simulation and experiment results have verified the effectiveness and superiority
of the presented control schemes. The nonlinear time-frequency control scheme is
therefore believed to be suitable for PM electrical machine control and is expected to have
a positive impact on the broader application of PM electrical machines
A Novel Fractional-Order PID Controller for Integrated Pressurized Water Reactor Based on Wavelet Kernel Neural Network Algorithm
This paper presents a novel wavelet kernel neural network (WKNN) with wavelet kernel function. It is applicable in online learning with adaptive parameters and is applied on parameters tuning of fractional-order PID (FOPID) controller, which could handle time delay problem of the complex control system. Combining the wavelet function and the kernel function, the wavelet kernel function is adopted and validated the availability for neural network. Compared to the conservative wavelet neural network, the most innovative character of the WKNN is its rapid convergence and high precision in parameters updating process. Furthermore, the integrated pressurized water reactor (IPWR) system is established by RELAP5, and a novel control strategy combining WKNN and fuzzy logic rule is proposed for shortening controlling time and utilizing the experiential knowledge sufficiently. Finally, experiment results verify that the control strategy and controller proposed have the practicability and reliability in actual complicated system
