    Toward developing a tele-diagnosis system on fish disease

    Fish disease diagnosis is a complicated process and requires high level of expertise, an expert system for fish disease diagnosis is considered as an effective tool to help fish farmers. However, many farmers have no computers and are not able to access the Internet. Telephone and mobile uses increase rapidly, so, the provision of call centre service appears as a sound alternative support channel for farmer to acquire counseling and support. This paper presents a research attempt to develop and evaluate a call center oriented Hybrid disease diagnosis & consulting system (H-Vet) in aquaculture in China. This paper looks at why H-Vet is needed and what are the advantages and difficulties in the developing and using such a system. A machine learning approach is adopted, which helps to acquire knowledge when enhancing expert systems with the user information collected through call center. This paper also proposes a fuzzy Group Support Systems (GSS) framework for acquiring knowledge from individual expert and aggregating knowledge into workgroup knowledge by H-Vet in the situation of difficult disease diagnosis.     Clinical evaluation of a wireless ECG sensor system for arrhythmia diagnostic purposes

    In a clinical study, a novel wireless electrocardiogram (ECG) recorder has been evaluated with regard to its ability to perform arrhythmia diagnostics. As the ECG recorder will detect a "non-standard" ECG signal, it has been necessary to compare those signals to "standard" ECG recording signals in order to evaluate the arrhythmia detection ability of the new system. Simultaneous recording of ECG signals from both the new wireless ECG recorder and a conventional Holter recorder was compared by two independent cardiology specialists with regard to signal quality for performing arrhythmia diagnosis. In addition, calculated R-R intervals from the two systems were correlated. A total number of 16 patients participated in the study. It can be considered that recorded ECG signals obtained from the wireless ECG system had an acceptable quality for arrhythmia diagnosis. Some of the patients used the wireless sensor while doing physical sport activities, and the quality of the recorded ECG signals made it possible to perform arrhythmia diagnostics even under such conditions. Consequently, this makes possible improvements in correlating arrhythmias to physical activities

    The high mortality rate associated with cardiovascular related diseases requires the implementation of a personalised, ubiquitous health monitoring system. With the recent advancements of wireless sensor network technologies, these study proposes a real time data acquisition and monitoring system for patients with a track history of coronary heart diseases based on the implementation of a microcontroller, GSM Module and temperature sensors. This pervasive healthcare system will provide a round the clock monitoring and has an in built alerting mechanism for detecting anomalies in cardiac activities. The aim of the study is to minimize the need for caretakers and help the gravely ill senior citizens to survive an independent life. Apart from that, this study will help reduce the mortality rate of victim by shortening the response time of medical team to the victims. In these study, the proposed design mechanism will consider the following key criteria namely safety, data security, energy efficiency, durability and cost incurred

É proposta uma infra-estrutura com base em instrumentação virtual e uma metodologia para o desenvolvimento de um laboratório virtual multi-usuários com acesso via Internet utilizando um browser Web. O escopo de maior abrangência deste projeto propõe a implementação de um sistema físico utilizando o acervo instrumental disponível no grupo Sensores Integráveis e Microssistemas - SIM.     Monitoring Heart Disease and Diabetes with Mobile Internet Communications

    A telemedicine system is described for monitoring vital signs and general health indicators of patients with cardiac and diabetic conditions. Telemetry from wireless sensors and readings from other instruments are combined into a comprehensive set of measured patient parameters. Using a combination of mobile device applications and web browser, the data can be stored, accessed, and displayed using mobile internet communications to the central server. As an extra layer of security in the data transmission, information embedded in the data is used in its verification.
