    A Framework for Constructing and Evaluating the Role of MR as a Holographic Virtual Guide in Museums

    Mixed reality (MR) is a cutting-edge technology at the forefront of many new applications in the tourism and cultural heritage sector. This study aims to reshape the museum experience by creating a highly engaging and immersive museum experience for visitors combing real-time visual, audio information and computer-generated images with museum artefacts and customer displays. This research introduces a theoretical framework that assesses the potential of MR guidance system in usefulness, ease of use, enjoyment, interactivity, touring and future applications. The evaluation introduces the MuseumEye MR application in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo using mixed method surveys and a sample of 171 participants. The results of the questionnaire highlighted the importance of the mediating the role of the tour guide in enhancing the relationship between perceived usefulness, ease of use, multimedia, UI design, interactivity and the intention of use. Furthermore, the results of this study revealed the potential future use of MR in museums and ensured sustainability and engagement past the traditional visitor museum experience, which heightens the economic state of museums and cultural heritage sectors

Clark University’s School of Professional Studies department and curator of Optical Heritage Museum, Mr. Whitney’s Whitney, have establish a collaboration that has spanned over two semesters with the goal to support and aid in improving OHM.     The botanical garden is here considered as a place to educate the visitors, especially young people and their families, students and teachers, about agro-biodiversity, in order to inform them about landraces that characterised and still characterise the rural territory of Modena through multiple channels, physical and digital, combined in one integrated program. A specific work is intended to concern the botanical garden fruition, through the realisation of educational visit itineraries that add a new virtual dimension to the classical observation of plant species in the botanical garden. The realisation of an app, through the use of the augmented reality, allow to convey information about historical and contemporary diffusion of landraces in the landscape of the Modena area, providing a symbolic context in which young people is stimulated to preserve memory and local identity through a valorisation of diversity, also in cultural terms

    Understanding visitors’ experiences at Portuguese literary museums: an analysis of TripAdvisor reviews

    In tourism studies, the analysis of online review websites is a gateway to understanding visitors’ experiences. After producing an updated inventory of literary museums in Portugal, this exploratory and qualitative research examines visitors’ experience at Portuguese literary museums, as revealed by national and international visitors on TripAdvisor. In the absence of national studies on visitors’ experience at these cultural attractions, this paper addresses this gap, using NVivo R.1.6 software and thematic analysis to identify the common experiential tropes in the visitors’ online spontaneous feedback. The findings indicate that most reviewers perceive this experience as a platform for gaining knowledge about the authors, work and historical context. The results also reveal that the writers’ objects (even when replicas), the curational options, and the tour guiding staff contribute significantly to sensing a connection with the author, stepping into the past and co-creating an aura of authenticity in the museum experience.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    Augmented Reality-Based Mobile Application for Knowledge Transferring in The System of Rice Intensification

    Currently, the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) is one method that can be applied and used to produce seeds of local rice species in highland areas. However, it can currently be seen that the traditional methods to transfer knowledge about SRI from the experts still have limitations in many aspects due to the number of farmers that have experienced success still being low. Some farmers do not have their own fields and it takes a period for farmers to test the rice growing. Currently, mobile devices are widely used in peoples’ lives. Many scholars focus on the application of mobile devices and the augmented reality (AR) technology for the simulation games in many issues while the use of AR-based mobile applications as the learning tools is not widespread. There-fore, in this study, we propose the development of an application on mobile devices with augmented reality technology in order to use it as media in sharing knowledge related to the methods of the System of Rice Intensification by virtual farms simulation. To examine the efficiency of this developed application. A total amount of participants were 512 farmers from 5 regions of Thailand. The experimental results demonstrated that the newly developed AR-based mobile application is effective for improved knowledge on the participants who used the developed application and it can help them to practice their SRI farming skill in the virtual farm simulation. This indicates that the developed AR-based mobile application is the benefits tool for the new knowledge transferring meth-od in the system of rice intensification. For future work, it is necessary to evaluate the farmer success after learning from this AR-based mobile application in order to study the impact of the new method of SRI knowledge transferring.
