Evil is a well-traveled word. It is a word that finds itself in many a discussion about many a subject. And it is not just an American trend; it is used in English-language countries in various ways, some mirroring its use in the States. And because evil is such a broadly used word, its rhetorical power can best be seen in part by its rhetorical scope. This is why this ethnographic study aims to analyze the uses of evil on the English language internet over the course of a day. The day chosen was October 24, 2016, situating the analysis with discourse about the 2016 American election, Halloween, but also other areas such as crime and religion. Such an analysis reveals the lack of elaborated definitions for evil but the powerful judgment it evokes in these different contexts

I am due to start work at nine o'clock. I work in general practice as a nurse practitioner, but I am also undertaking a course in non-medical prescribing. The morning is rushed as I try to get the kids up, dressed, breakfasted and to nursery on time. On the way, I think about yesterday's lectures, which had covered the assessment of a patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). I'm looking forward to getting to work because I want to put this learning into practice, but I have plenty more to do today, and I also want to get online at lunchtime to download some eBooks and start reading around the subjects for my assignments

A Day in the life of a casino host

Casinos usually hire junket representatives and casino hosts to act as a liaison between casino marketing departments and proven high-end guests. Junket representatives are usually independent agents who bring players into a particular casino; in return, they are compensated with commission by that casino. If these players do not spend enough time and money in playing, the casino simply loses interest in that representative. Casino hosts are in-house marketing employees who are fully responsible for retaining the existing good patrons and to bring in potential new guests (Makens & Bowen, 1994)
