Measuring interaction: An empirical comparison of three OLS regression models
The capacity to correctly assess the existence of interaction is a high-value modeling capability among researchers of information systems (IS), especially those focusing on behavioural paradigm studies. Interaction is a notable aspect for the major theoretical frameworks of the IS field, particularly the adoption theories. Allowing for crossover effects in the Theory of Planned Behaviour resulted in improvements in model prediction (Taylor & Todd, 1995b). This study presents the trimmed model, which does not permit crossover effect relations among variables. In complex models, as mentioned by Pedhazur (1997), one variable may affect another variable indirectly through multiple paths. According to him, it stands to reason that indirect effects, through certain paths, may be more meaningful and/or stronger than others. The findings of this quantitative study lead one to conclude that crossover effect models are more capable of showing the interaction among models’ variables, as well as explaining the highest percentage of variation for a single dependent variable, in comparison to the full and trimmed model
Factors and affect mobile telephone users to use mobile payment solution
Providing a convenient payment solution to mp3 users is one of the alternatives that can promote legal mp3 downloading. However, before the success of the payment solution can be determined, it is essential to understand whether it would be well-accepted by the users. This paper examines factors that influence the intention to use a mobile payment solution for mp3 downloading among university' students. Drawing from the Technology Acceptance Model, Theory of Planned Behaviour and previous literatures, five factors were hypothesized to influence the intention to use the payment solution, namely perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, trust, perceived price level, and peer influence. Final year business students at a public university in the southern part of Malaysia were chosen as respondents for this study. Multiple regressions were employed to analyze the data. Two factors were found to have significant effect on the intention to use the payment solution, which were trust and peer influence. Practical implications were proposed and discussed
An Empirical Investigation of the Acceptance of Electronic Negotiation Support System Features
Electronic negotiation support aims at enabling complex trade interactions through means of information technology. Present research in electronic negotiation support is limited to a large extent to the analytical decision support view. There is a lack of empirical evidence on the acceptance of the different types of support in the negotiation support portfolio and their value contribution. In this paper, the results of a laboratory experiment evaluating the communication support feature of a particular negotiation support system, namely the Negoisst system, is presented. It is concluded, that dedicated communication support is highly relevant in users’ perception of usefulness
