SPECIAL FUZZY MATRICES FOR SOCIAL SCIENTISTS
This book is a continuation of the book, Elementary fuzzy matrix and fuzzy models for socio-scientists by the same authors. This book is a little advanced because we introduce a multi-expert fuzzy and neutrosophic models. It mainly tries to help social scientists to analyze any problem in which they need multi-expert systems with multi-models. To cater to this need, we have introduced new classes of fuzzy and neutrosophic special matrices. The first chapter is essentially spent on introducing the new notion of different types of special fuzzy and neutrosophic matrices, and the simple operations on them which are needed in the working of these multi expert models. In the second chapter, new set of multi expert models are introduced; these special fuzzy models and special fuzzy neutrosophic models that can cater to adopt any number of experts. The working of the model is also explained by illustrative examples. However, these special fuzzy models can also be used by applied mathematicians to study social and psychological problems. These models can also be used by doctors, engineers, scientists and statisticians. The SFCM, SMFCM, SNCM, SMNCM, SFRM, SNRM, SMFRM, SMNRM, SFNCMs, SFNRMs, etc. can give the special hidden pattern for any given special input vector
Semantic discovery and reuse of business process patterns
Patterns currently play an important role in modern information systems (IS) development and their use has mainly been restricted to the design and implementation phases of the development lifecycle. Given the increasing significance of business modelling in IS development, patterns have the potential of providing a viable solution for promoting reusability of recurrent generalized models in the very early stages of development. As a statement of research-in-progress this paper focuses on business process patterns and proposes an initial methodological framework for the discovery and reuse of business process patterns within the IS development lifecycle. The framework borrows ideas from the domain engineering literature and proposes the use of semantics to drive both the discovery of patterns as well as their reuse

Enhancing the Quality of Care in Long-Term Care Settings
Quality of care in long-term care is a worldwide issue given the growing numbers of dependent older people. This book presents international research, 22 varied papers, exploring quality of care from several different angles. Important themes include: (1) workforce issues, such as staff training and support; job competencies, satisfaction, and intention to stay in work; staff burnout; effects of personal- and work-related factors on quality of care; (2) intervention studies: for depressive symptoms in nursing home residents; adjustment for new residents; social and psychological support; and loneliness and isolation; (3) methodology, including: developing and testing quality indicators; measuring residents' experience of quality; and assessing partnership between staff and families; and (4) older people's experiences, such as dry eyes and using ocular lubricants; associations between length of stay and end of life care; palliative care service use and comfort at end of of life; and causes of infection-related hospitalization. The book concludes with a systematic review of the current evidence base of care home research in Brazil

Facilitating teacher participation in intelligent computer tutor design : tools and design methods.
This work addresses the widening gap between research in intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs) and practical use of this technology by the educational community. In order to ensure that ITSs are effective, teachers must be involved in their design and evaluation. We have followed a user participatory design process to build a set of ITS knowledge acquisition tools that facilitate rapid prototyping and testing of curriculum, and are tailored for usability by teachers. The system (called KAFITS) also serves as a test-bed for experimentation with multiple tutoring strategies. The design includes novel methodologies for tutoring strategy representation (Parameterized Action Networks) and overlay student modeling (a layered student model), and incorporates considerations from instructional design theory. It also allows for considerable student control over the content and style of the information presented. Highly interactive graphics-based tools were built to facilitate design, inspection, and modification of curriculum and tutoring strategies, and to monitor the progress of the tutoring session. Evaluation of the system includes a sixteen-month case study of three educators (one being the domain expert) using the system to build a tutor for statics (forty topics representing about four hours of on-line instruction), testing the tutor on a dozen students, and using test results to iteratively improve the tutor. Detailed throughput analysis indicates that the amount of effort to build the statics tutor was, surprisingly, comparable to similar figures for building (non-intelligent) conventional computer aided instructional systems. Few ITS projects focus on educator participation and this work is the first to empirically study knowledge acquisition for ITSs. Results of the study also include: a recommended design process for building ITSs with educator participation; guidelines for training educators; recommendations for conducting knowledge acquisition sessions; and design tradeoffs for knowledge representation architectures and knowledge acquisition interfaces

Bayesian decision support in complex modular systems : an algebraic and graphical approach
Nowadays decision centres are required to make choices in complex and evolving environments, described through multiple and interdependent processes with many associated measurements. The objective of a real time decision making centre is to agree to a sequence of efficacious countermeasures. To achieve this it is usually necessary to integrate opinions and information from an often diverse set of stakeholders, articulating several competing objectives and knowledge over different domains of expertise. A collection of decision support systems can enhance such an integration, not only ensuring that all relevant evidence systematically informs policy making, but also encouraging the decision centre to exhibit an underlying consistency across all its components and to address the problem as a whole. In this thesis we develop a formal framework, extending standard Bayesian methodology, enabling the judgements and the models of groups of experts to be coherently aggregated in a unique entity. We discuss when and how it is possible to do so and the conditions the group needs to agree upon. We call this framework integrating decision support system. We then develop a variety of methodologies to enhance such an integration, enabling integrating decision support systems to be feasibly used in practice
