Implementation of Telemedicine in Otorhinolaryngology

Telemedicine is a term that covers all procedures supported by communication technology, which has the purpose of providing health services at a specific spatial distance. This is an area that is developing rapidly and has found particular application in otorhinolaryngology, given that a large number of surgeries are performed with the help of endoscopes and microscopes. Telemedicine also represents a significant advantage during the coronavirus pandemic, both in terms of treating patients and monitoring them more effectively. For the purpose of preparing this article, research published on Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Google was reviewed using the keywords “telemedicine” and “otorhinolaryngology”. This review article provides a summary and the latest insights in this broad and fast-growing area. The development of telemedicine in Croatia as well as a special review of the application of telemedicine during the coronavirus pandemic is also presented in this article

Human-Centred Evaluation of Broadband Telehealth for Tertiary Outpatient Consultations: A Case Study Approach

Outpatient consultations form a large part of the healthcare of patients at tertiary hospitals, both as a precursor to in-patient treatment and for the management of on-going health conditions or long-term rehabilitation and monitoring after treatment. These outpatient consultations are generally conducted at the hospitals, most often located in large cities. Patients who live outside these cities face extensive travel to attend these consultations, placing a burden on themselves and on their families or carers. An ability of a tertiary hospital to deliver outpatient consultations in a telehealth mode to regional or remote locations closer to the patients’ homes would potentially relieve much of this burden of travel. ¶ ... ¶ In this thesis I use a case-study-based approach to evaluate the development and pilot trial of a broadband telehealth system in a tertiary paediatric context. I use the data from these case studies to explore the way that a human-centred approach can be used to evaluate outpatient telehealth trials at a tertiary level of healthcare. ..

IMPLEMENTATION OF WIRELESS LAN IN UTP

This paper, entitled Implementation ofWireless LAN in UTP environment, looks into the way to implement wireless network in UTP. The main objectives ofthis project are to provide mobile network and internet access using university's network system to students and lecturers and to make it easier and convenient for student to download lecture notes and for lecturers to upload them. Currently, there is no wireless LAN access in UTP environment that can be use by students and staff as alternative opportunity to access and share instant information. Therefore, this project research area is to find out the way to implement wireless LAN using secure Wi-Fi in UTP external environment. For this study, the scope is narrow down to the architecture and design ofwireless LAN network and its developing methodology. Anetwork simulation tool called Network Simulator version 2, or simply known as ns-2, is used to test the efficiency and functionality ofthe designed network. The outcome ofthis project is a good network architecture design that will give high network performance to all users in UTP
