A novel spectrum sharing scheme assisted by secondary NOMA relay

    Get PDF
In this letter, a two-slot secondary non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) relay is used to assist spectrum sharing, where the primary transceivers with long distance communicate through the relay. First, the information for the primary receiver (PR) and secondary receivers (SRs) is transmitted via the NOMA relay. Then, the information for PR is re-transmitted to it through a selected SR to improve its quality of service using maximal-ratio combining, while the next data for PR is sent from the primary transmitter (PT) to the NOMA relay simultaneously. The power allocation solution is derived for the NOMA relay. Simulation results have shown the effectiveness of the proposed scheme

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and spectrum sharing (SS) are two emerging multiple access technologies for efficient spectrum utilization in the fifth-generation (5G) wireless communications standard. In this paper, we present a closed-form analysis of the average achievable sum-rate and outage probability for a NOMA-based cooperative relaying system (CRS) in an underlay spectrum sharing scenario. We consider a peak interference constraint, where the interference inflicted by the secondary (unlicensed) network on the primary-user (licensed) receiver (PU-Rx) should be less than a predetermined threshold. We show that the CRS-NOMA outperforms the CRS with conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) for large values of peak interference power at the PU-Rx.Comment: 3 figures, Accepted for presentation in GLOBECOM-NOMAT5G workshop, Abu Dhabi, 201

Ant-colony and nature-inspired heuristic models for NOMA systems: a review

The increasing computational complexity in scheduling the large number of users for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system and future cellular networks lead to the need for scheduling models with relatively lower computational complexity such as heuristic models. The main objective of this paper is to conduct a concise study on ant-colony optimization (ACO) methods and potential nature-inspired heuristic models for NOMA implementation in future high-speed networks. The issues, challenges and future work of ACO and other related heuristic models in NOMA are concisely reviewed. The throughput result of the proposed ACO method is observed to be close to the maximum theoretical value and stands 44% higher than that of the existing method. This result demonstrates the effectiveness of ACO implementation for NOMA user scheduling and grouping

Privacy preservation via beamforming for NOMA

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has been proposed as a promising multiple access approach for 5G mobile systems because of its superior spectrum efļ¬ciency. However, the privacy between the NOMA users may be compromised due to the transmission of a superposition of all usersā€™ signals to successive interference cancellation (SIC) receivers. In this paper, we propose two schemes based on beamforming optimization for NOMA that can enhance the security of a speciļ¬c private user while guaranteeing the other usersā€™ quality of service (QoS). Speciļ¬cally, in the ļ¬rst scheme, when the transmit antennas are inadequate, we intend to maximize the secrecy rate of the private user, under the constraint that the other usersā€™ QoS is satisļ¬ed. In the second scheme, the private userā€™s signal is zero-forced at the other users when redundant antennas are available. In this case, the transmission rate of the private user is also maximized while satisfying the QoS of the other users. Due to the nonconvexity of optimization in these two schemes, we ļ¬rst convert them into convex forms and then, an iterative algorithm based on the ConCave-Convex Procedure is proposed to obtain their solutions. Extensive simulation results are presented to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme

Joint trajectory and precoding optimization for UAV-assisted NOMA networks

The explosive data traffic and connections in 5G networks require the use of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) to accommodate more users. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can be exploited with NOMA to improve the situation further. In this paper, we propose a UAV-assisted NOMA network, in which the UAV and base station (BS) cooperate with each other to serve ground users simultaneously. The sum rate is maximized by jointly optimizing the UAV trajectory and the NOMA precoding. To solve the optimization, we decompose it into two steps. First, the sum rate of the UAV-served users is maximized via alternate user scheduling and UAV trajectory, with its interference to the BS-served users below a threshold. Then, the optimal NOMA precoding vectors are obtained using two schemes with different constraints. The first scheme intends to cancel the interference from the BS to the UAV-served user, while the second one restricts the interference to a given threshold. In both schemes, non-convex optimization problems are converted into tractable ones. An iterative algorithm is designed. Numerical results are provided to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms for the hybrid NOMA and UAV network
