Node Disjoint Multipath Routing Approach for Controlling Congestion in MANETs
Mobile Ad hoc Networks are highly dynamic networks. Quality of Service (QoS) routing in such networks is usually limited by the network breakage due to either node mobility or energy depletion of the mobile nodes. Nodedisjoint routing becomes inessential technique in communication of packets among various nodes in networks. Meanwhile AODV (Ad Hoc On-demand Multipath Distance Vector) creates single-path route between a pair of source and destination nodes. Some researches has done so far to make multipath node-disjoint routing based on AODV protocol. But however their overhead and end-to-end delay are relatively high, while the detail of their code is not available too. In an ad hoc network, identification of all node-disjoint paths between a given pair of nodes is a challenging task. The phenomena that a protocol is not able to identify all node-disjoint paths that exist between a given pair of nodes is called path diminution. In this paper, we discuss that path diminution is unavoidable when a protocol discovers multiple node-disjoint paths in a single route discovery and working of node disjoint multipath protocol
Improving Energy Efficiency in MANETs by Multi-Path Routing
Some multi-path routing algorithm in MANET, simultaneously send information
to the destination through several directions to reduce end-to-end delay. In
all these algorithms, the sent traffic through a path affects the adjacent path
and unintentionally increases the delay due to the use of adjacent paths.
Because, there are repetitive competitions among neighboring nodes, in order to
obtain the joint channel in adjacent paths. The represented algorithm in this
study tries to discover the distinct paths between source and destination nodes
with using Omni directional antennas, to send information through these
simultaneously. For this purpose, the number of active neighbors is counted in
each direction with using a strategy. These criterions are effectively used to
select routes. Proposed algorithm is based on AODV routing algorithm, and in
the end it is compared with AOMDV, AODVM, and IZM-DSR algorithms which are
multi-path routing algorithms based on AODV and DSR. Simulation results show
that using the proposed algorithm creates a significant improvement in energy
efficiency and reducing end-to-end delay
The design and performance evaluation of a proactive multipath routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks
Due to unpredictable network topology changes, routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
(MANET) is an important and challenging research area. The routing protocol
should detect and maintain a good route(s) between source and destination nodes in
these dynamic networks. Many routing protocols have been proposed for mobile ad
hoc networks, and none can be considered as the best under all conditions.
This thesis presents the design and implementation of a new proactive multipath
MANET routing protocol. The protocol, named Multipath Destination Sequenced
Distance Vector (MDSDV), is based on the well known single path Destination Sequenced
Distance Vector (DSDV). We show that the protocol finds node-disjoint
paths, i.e., paths which do not have any nodes in common, except for the source
and the destination.
The thesis presents a systematic evaluation of MDSDV in comparison with three
well known protocols: one proactive (DSDV), and two reactive (AODV) and (DSR).
MDSDV behaves very well in terms of its packet delivery fraction and data dropped in
both static and dynamic networks. It delivers nearly 100% of data in dense networks
(networks with more than 20 nodes). The speed of the nodes and the number of
sources have a low impact on its performance
Multipath optimized link state routing for mobile ad hoc networks
International audienceMultipath routing protocols for Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) address the problem of scalability, security (confidentiality and integrity), lifetime of networks, instability of wireless transmissions, and their adaptation to applications. Our protocol, called MP-OLSR (MultiPath OLSR), is a multipath routing protocol based on OLSR. The Multipath Dijkstra Algorithm is proposed to obtain multiple paths. The algorithm gains great flexibility and extensibility by employing different link metrics and cost functions. In addition, route recovery and loop detection are implemented in MP-OLSR in order to improve quality of service regarding OLSR. The backward compatibility with OLSR based on IP source routing is also studied. Simulation based on Qualnet simulator is performed in different scenarios. A testbed is also set up to validate the protocol in real world. The results reveal that MP-OLSR is suitable for mobile, large and dense networks with large traffic, and could satisfy critical multimedia applications with high on time constraints
Local heuristic for the refinement of multi-path routing in wireless mesh networks
We consider wireless mesh networks and the problem of routing end-to-end
traffic over multiple paths for the same origin-destination pair with minimal
interference. We introduce a heuristic for path determination with two
distinguishing characteristics. First, it works by refining an extant set of
paths, determined previously by a single- or multi-path routing algorithm.
Second, it is totally local, in the sense that it can be run by each of the
origins on information that is available no farther than the node's immediate
neighborhood. We have conducted extensive computational experiments with the
new heuristic, using AODV and OLSR, as well as their multi-path variants, as
underlying routing methods. For two different CSMA settings (as implemented by
802.11) and one TDMA setting running a path-oriented link scheduling algorithm,
we have demonstrated that the new heuristic is capable of improving the average
throughput network-wide. When working from the paths generated by the
multi-path routing algorithms, the heuristic is also capable to provide a more
evenly distributed traffic pattern
An enhanced Multipath Strategy in Mobile Ad hoc Routing Protocols
The various routing protocols in Mobile Ad hoc Networks follow different
strategies to send the information from one node to another. The nodes in the
network are non static and they move randomly and are prone to link failure
which makes always to find new routes to the destination. This research mainly
focused on the study of the characteristics of multipath routing protocols in
MANETS. Two of the multipath routing protocols were investigated and a
comparative study along with simulation using NS2 was done between DSR and AODV
to propose an enhanced approach to reach the destination maintaining the QoS. A
possible optimization to the DSR and AODV routing protocols was proposed to
make no node to be overburdened by distributing the load after finding the
alternate multipath routes which were discovered in the Route discovery
process. The simulation shows that the differences in the protocol highlighted
major differences with the protocol performance. These differences have been
analyzed with various network size, mobility, and network load. A new search
table named Search of Next Node Enquiry Table (SONNET) was proposed to find the
best neighbor node. Using SONNET the node selects the neighbor which can be
reached in less number of hops and with less time delay and maintaining the
QoS
An Improvement in Congestion Control Using Multipath Routing in Manet
The ad hoc connections, which opens many opportunities for MANET applications. In ad hoc network nodes are movable and there is no centralised management. Routing is an important factor in mobile ad hoc network which not only works well with a small network, but also it can also work well if network get expanded dynamically. Routing in Manets is a main factor considered among all the issues. Mobile nodes in Manet have limited transmission capacity, they intercommunicate by multi hop relay. Multi hop routing have many challenges such as limited wireless bandwidth, low device power, dynamically changing network topology, and high vulnerability to Failure. To answer those challenges, many routing algorithms in Manets were proposed. But one of the problems in routing algorithm is congestion which decreases the overall performance of the network so in this paper we are trying to identify the best routing algorithm which will improve the congestion control mechanism among all the Multipath routing protocols
