Security and Privacy Issues of Big Data
This chapter revises the most important aspects in how computing
infrastructures should be configured and intelligently managed to fulfill the
most notably security aspects required by Big Data applications. One of them is
privacy. It is a pertinent aspect to be addressed because users share more and
more personal data and content through their devices and computers to social
networks and public clouds. So, a secure framework to social networks is a very
hot topic research. This last topic is addressed in one of the two sections of
the current chapter with case studies. In addition, the traditional mechanisms
to support security such as firewalls and demilitarized zones are not suitable
to be applied in computing systems to support Big Data. SDN is an emergent
management solution that could become a convenient mechanism to implement
security in Big Data systems, as we show through a second case study at the end
of the chapter. This also discusses current relevant work and identifies open
issues.Comment: In book Handbook of Research on Trends and Future Directions in Big

Body language, security and e-commerce
Security is becoming an increasingly more important concern both at the desktop level and at the network level. This article discusses several approaches to authenticating individuals through the use of biometric devices. While libraries might not implement such devices, they may appear in the near future of desktop computing, particularly for access to institutional computers or for access to sensitive information. Other approaches to computer security focus on protecting the contents of electronic transmissions and verification of individual users. After a brief overview of encryption technologies, the article examines public-key cryptography which is getting a lot of attention in the business world in what is called public key infrastructure. It also examines other efforts, such as IBMâs Cryptolope, the Secure Sockets Layer of Web browsers, and Digital Certificates and Signatures. Secure electronic transmissions are an important condition for conducting business on the Net. These business transactions are not limited to purchase orders, invoices, and contracts. This could become an important tool for information vendors and publishers to control access to the electronic resources they license. As license negotiators and contract administrators, librarians need to be aware of what is happening in these new technologies and the impact that will have on their operations
Options for Securing RTP Sessions
The Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) is used in a large number of
different application domains and environments. This heterogeneity
implies that different security mechanisms are needed to provide
services such as confidentiality, integrity, and source
authentication of RTP and RTP Control Protocol (RTCP) packets
suitable for the various environments. The range of solutions makes
it difficult for RTP-based application developers to pick the most
suitable mechanism. This document provides an overview of a number
of security solutions for RTP and gives guidance for developers on
how to choose the appropriate security mechanism
Dwarna : a blockchain solution for dynamic consent in biobanking
Dynamic consent aims to empower research partners and facilitate active participation in the research process. Used within
the context of biobanking, it gives individuals access to information and control to determine how and where their
biospecimens and data should be used. We present Dwarnaâa web portal for âdynamic consentâ that acts as a hub
connecting the different stakeholders of the Malta Biobank: biobank managers, researchers, research partners, and the
general public. The portal stores research partnersâ consent in a blockchain to create an immutable audit trail of research
partnersâ consent changes. Dwarnaâs structure also presents a solution to the European Unionâs General Data Protection
Regulationâs right to erasureâa right that is seemingly incompatible with the blockchain model. Dwarnaâs transparent
structure increases trustworthiness in the biobanking process by giving research partners more control over which research
studies they participate in, by facilitating the withdrawal of consent and by making it possible to request that the biospecimen
and associated data are destroyed.peer-reviewe

ORACLE DATABASE SECURITY
This paper presents some security issues, namely security database system level, data level security, user-level security, user management, resource management and password management. Security is a constant concern in the design and database development. Usually, there are no concerns about the existence of security, but rather how large it should be. A typically DBMS has several levels of security, in addition to those offered by the operating system or network. Typically, a DBMS has user accounts that require a login password to be authenticated to access the data.data security, password administration, Oracle HTTP Server, OracleAS, access control
