    Econometric modeling of business Telecommunications demand using Retina and Finite Mixtues

    In this paper we estimate the business telecommunications demands for local, intra-LATA and inter-LATA services, using US data from a Bill Harvesting R survey carried out during 1997. We model heterogeneity, which is present among firms due to a variety of different business telecommunication needs, by estimating normal heteroskedastic mixture regressions. The results show that a three-component mixture model fits the demand for local services well, while a two-component structure is used to model intra-LATA and inter-LATA demand. We characterize the groups in terms of their differences among the coefficients, and then use Retina to perform automatic model selection over an expanded candidate regressor set which includes heterogeneity parameters as well as transformations of the original variables.Telecommunication Demand Models, Local calls, Inter-LATA calls, intra-LATA calls, Retina, Flexible Functional Forms, Heterogeneity, Finite Mixtures.

    The telecommunications sector is one of the most innovative, high-growth, capitalintensive yet volatile sector of the economy. This research addresses critical concerns of how, when, and why an enterprise or a service provider should undertake new investments. The study investigates the power of flexibility in investment decision making process, by applying the real options methodology. Five case applications are studied: a) investment decisions in next generation wireless networks; b) investing in integrated wireless networks; c) migration to wireless broadband internet services; d) valuing deployment of Wi-Fi networks in enterprise markets; and e) valuing Hosted VOIP services for enterprise markets.     In this paper we estimate the business telecommunications demands for local,intra-LATA and inter-LATA services, using US data from a Bill Harvesting (R) survey carried out during 1997. We characterize the groups in terms of their differences among the coefficients, and then use RETINA to perform automatic model selection over an expanded candidate regressor set which includes heterogeneity parameters as well as transformations of the original variables. Our models improve substantially the in-sample fit as well the out-of-sample predictive ability over alternative candidate models. RETINA suggests that the final demand specification should include telephone equipment variables as relevant regressors. On the other hand, the output of the firm, as well as its physical extension, have second order, yet significant effects on the demand for telecommunication services.     In the recent decade, communication has stirred from the old wired medium such as public switched telephone network (PSTN) to the Internet. Present, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Technology used for communication on internet by means of packet switching technique. Several years ago, an internet protocol (IP) based organism was launched, which is known as Private Branch Exchange "PBX", as a substitute of common PSTN systems. For free communication, probably you must have to be pleased with starting of domestic calls. Although, fairly in few cases, VoIP services can considerably condense our periodical phone bills. For instance, if someone makes frequent global phone calls, VoIP talk service is the actual savings treat which cannot achieve by using regular switched phone. VoIP talk services strength help to trim down your phone bills if you deal with a lot of long-distance (international) and as well as domestic phone calls. However, with the VoIP success, threats and challenges also stay behind. In this dissertation, by penetration testing one will know that how to find network vulnerabilities how to attack them to exploit the network for unhealthy activities and also will know about some security techniques to secure a network. And the results will be achieved by penetration testing will indicate of proven of artefact and would be helpful to enhance the level of network security to build a more secure network in future

    Actualmente existe una tendencia que combina las caracterĂ­sticas de los servicios Web 2.0 y los servicios de telecomunicaciones, conocida como Telco 2.0. Estos servicios convergentes se han aplicado exitosamente en sistemas de alertas tempranas, proporcionando mayor agilidad y flexibilidad en la prestaciĂłn de servicios. Sin embargo, existen varias limitantes que no permiten el despliegue de servicios convergentes en las zonas rurales de paĂ­ses en vĂ­a de desarrollo, como la falta de disponibilidad de una ngn (Next Generation Network), la ausencia de tecnologĂ­a avanzada y la falta de recursos para inversiĂłn. Este artĂ­culo propone una arquitectura de integraciĂłn entre jain slee y OpenBTS para sistemas rurales de alertas tempranas. Se evalĂșa el prototipo implementado con un caso de estudio especĂ­fico al enviar advertencias Telco 2.0 a los cafeteros colombianos cuyas plantaciones puedan verse afectadas por la roya, una de las enfermedades mĂĄs peligrosas para la producciĂłn de cafĂ©.Nowadays exists a trend that combines the features of Web 2.0 services and telecommunications services known as Telco 2.0. These converged services have been successfully implemented in early warning systems providing improved agility and flexibility in service delivery. However the deployment of converged services in rural zones of developing countries presents several constraints which do not allow to provide this kind of services, as the unavailability of a Next Generation Network (ngn), absence of advanced technology and lack of investment resources. This paper proposes a jain slee and OpenBTS integration architecture for early warning systems in rural zones. The implemented prototype is evaluated with a specific case study involving the deployment of Telco 2.0 warnings in Colombian coffee plantations which may be affected by coffee rust, one of the most threatening diseases in coffee production
