User Review-Based Change File Localization for Mobile Applications
In the current mobile app development, novel and emerging DevOps practices
(e.g., Continuous Delivery, Integration, and user feedback analysis) and tools
are becoming more widespread. For instance, the integration of user feedback
(provided in the form of user reviews) in the software release cycle represents
a valuable asset for the maintenance and evolution of mobile apps. To fully
make use of these assets, it is highly desirable for developers to establish
semantic links between the user reviews and the software artefacts to be
changed (e.g., source code and documentation), and thus to localize the
potential files to change for addressing the user feedback. In this paper, we
propose RISING (Review Integration via claSsification, clusterIng, and
linkiNG), an automated approach to support the continuous integration of user
feedback via classification, clustering, and linking of user reviews. RISING
leverages domain-specific constraint information and semi-supervised learning
to group user reviews into multiple fine-grained clusters concerning similar
users' requests. Then, by combining the textual information from both commit
messages and source code, it automatically localizes potential change files to
accommodate the users' requests. Our empirical studies demonstrate that the
proposed approach outperforms the state-of-the-art baseline work in terms of
clustering and localization accuracy, and thus produces more reliable results.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures, 8 table
Mining User-generated Content of Mobile Patient Portal: Dimensions of User Experience
Patient portals are positioned as a central component of patient engagement through the potential to change the physician-patient relationship and enable chronic disease self-management. The incorporation of patient portals provides the promise to deliver excellent quality, at optimized costs, while improving the health of the population. This study extends the existing literature by extracting dimensions related to the Mobile Patient Portal Use. We use a topic modeling approach to systematically analyze users’ feedback from the actual use of a common mobile patient portal, Epic\u27s MyChart. Comparing results of Latent Dirichlet Allocation analysis with those of human analysis validated the extracted topics. Practically, the results provide insights into adopting mobile patient portals, revealing opportunities for improvement and to enhance the design of current basic portals. Theoretically, the findings inform the social-technical systems and Task-Technology Fit theories in the healthcare field and emphasize important healthcare structural and social aspects. Further, findings inform the humanization of healthcare framework, support the results of existing studies, and introduce new important design dimensions (i.e., aspects) that influence patient satisfaction and adherence to patient portal

Are HIV smartphone apps and online interventions fit for purpose?
Sexual health is an under-explored area of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), particularly sexually transmitted infections such as HIV. Due to the stigma associated with these infections, people are often motivated to seek information online. With the rise of smartphone and web apps, there is enormous potential for technology to provide easily accessible information and resources. However, using online information raises important concerns about the trustworthiness of these resources and whether they are fit for purpose. We conducted a review of smartphone and web apps to investigate the landscape of currently available online apps and whether they meet the diverse needs of people seeking information on HIV online. Our functionality review revealed that existing technology interventions have a one-size-fits-all approach and do not support the breadth and complexity of HIV-related support needs. We argue that technology-based interventions need to signpost their offering and provide tailored support for different stages of HIV, including prevention, testing, diagnosis and management
Deep Learning-Based User Feedback Classification in Mobile App Reviews
As online users are interacting with many mobile apps under different usage contexts, user needs in an app design process have become a critical issue. Existing studies indicate timely and constructive online reviews from users become extremely crucial for developers to understand user needs and create innovation opportunities. However, discovering and quantifying potential user needs from large amounts of unstructured text is a nontrivial task. In this paper, we propose a domain-oriented deep learning approach that can discover the most critical user needs such as app product new features and bug reports from a large volume of online product reviews. We conduct comprehensive evaluations including quantitative evaluations like F-measure a, and qualitative evaluations such as a case study to ensure the quality of discovered information, specifically, including the number of bug reports and feature requests. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed supervised model outperforms the baseline models and could find more valuable information such as more important keywords and more coherent topics. Our research has significant managerial implications for app developers, app customers, and app platform providers
Designing positive behavior change experiences: a systematic review and sentiment analysis based on online user reviews of fitness and nutrition mobile applications
While mobile devices have become ubiquitous, illnesses derived
from poor lifestyle habits are on the rise. However, our understand ing of design mechanisms that induce healthier behavior change
through mobile devices is still limited. Using the BCT Taxonomy,
and online user reviews as an indicator of experience satisfaction,
we make a three-folded contribution to designing interactive sys tems for behavior change: (i) a systematic review of applications
for physical activity and healthier eating habits, coding BCTs; (ii)
sentiment analysis performed on 20492 review sentences of these
apps; and (iii) design implications regarding the implementation
features for each BCT cluster, considering the highest-scored fea tures in terms of sentiment analysis. Positive expressions referred
to the framing/reframing technique. Contrarily, negative expres sions were mostly related to reward and threat. Findings from this
study can be used to benchmark interactions between users and
behavior change interfaces, and provide design insights to support
