The Clay Ball Site in the Upper Neches River Basin of East Texas

The Clay Ball site is an ancestral Caddo site believed to be located in the upper Neches River basin in East Texas. The site is notable for its series of small, square vessels with Frankston phase (ca. A.D. 1400- 1650) engraved motifs, as such vessel forms have not been previously documented in studies of Frankston or later Allen phase (ca. A.D. 1650-1830) vessel assemblages. The unique ceramic vessels from the site were excavated by Buddy C. Jones, and although his main site collecting and excavation work was in the mid-Sabine River basin, he did excavate several sites in the upper Neches River basin in Anderson, Cherokee, and Smith counties. Unfortunately, Jones left no notes or records associated with the Clay Ball site that would allow us to either ascertain the contextual relationship of the various features at the site where they were excavated, nor for that matter even provide a locational description of the site

Kerangka rekabentuk Carta Selak Rangkaian Berintegrasi Teori Gagne Sembilan Peristiwa Pembelajaran

Kajian ini merupakan sebuah kajian terhadap Kerangka Rekabentuk Carta Selak Rangkaian Berintegrasi Teori Gagne Sembilan Peristiwa Pembelajaran. Tujuan kajian ini dilakukan adalah bagi mencadangkan sebuah Kerangka Rekabentuk Carta Selak Rangkaian Berintegrasi Teori Gagne Sembilan Peristiwa Pembelajaran yang sesuai diaplikasikan oleh bakal guru dan juga guru bagi sebuah sesi pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang berkesan dan seterusnya meningkatkan kefahaman dan pengetahuan pelajar dalam mata pelajaran yang diajar oleh guru. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah berdasarkan Model ADDIE iaitu peringkat analisis, peringkat rekabentuk, peringkat pembangunan, peringkat implimentasi dan peringkat penilaian. Hasil daripada dapatan kajian yang menggunakan model TAM melihat persepsi dari kebergunaan (tahap tinggi dan min 3.02), kesenangan mengguna (tahap tinggi dan min 3.03) dan sikap penggunaan ( diterima dan min 2.65) terhadap Kerangka Rekabentuk Carta Selak Rangkaian Berintegrasi Teori Gagne Sembilan Peristiwa Pembelajaran. Dapatan tersebut menunjukkan bahawa ia digunakan dalam sesi pengajaran dan pembelajaran di bilik darjah oleh responden pada masa hadapan. Game of Frontier Orbitals: A View on the Rational Design of Novel Charge-Transfer Materials

Since the first application of frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) to rationalize stereospecificity of pericyclic reactions, FMOs have remained at the forefront of chemical theory. Yet, the practical application of FMOs in the rational design and synthesis of novel charge transfer materials remains under-appreciated. In this Perspective, we demonstrate that molecular orbital theory is a powerful and universal tool capable of rationalizing the observed redox/optoelectronic properties of various aromatic hydrocarbons in the context of their application as charge-transfer materials. Importantly, the inspection of FMOs can provide instantaneous insight into the interchromophoric electronic coupling and polaron delocalization in polychromophoric assemblies, and therefore is invaluable for the rational design and synthesis of novel materials with tailored properties

Audience Responses to Gender Stereotypes in Advertising

Advertising has demonstrated linguistic, contextual, and sexual gender stereotypes since its inception; it seems poised to continue doing so as advertising’s presence in society proliferates. Upon analyzing these stereotypes, examples can be found throughout media, especially in television. All this begs the question: Are these stereotypes actually effective at selling products or services to their intended audience? Do men react positively to stereotypes of men or women; and vice versa, how do women react? If gender stereotypes are employed in advertising purely through force of habit and not evidenced prudence, then the advertising landscape stands to gain immensely from taking a more progressive view; otherwise, stereotypical advertising is defensible if only from a financial perspective

Developing Pre-Literacy Skills via Shared Book Reading: Assessment of a Family Intervention Program for Preschool Children at Risk of Becoming Reading Disabled

This paper reports on a low cost intervention program implemented into the homes of 34 preschool children at risk of reading failure. The intervention was targeted at families where there was a history of reading disability. Families were instructed in dialogic reading via videotaped examples of good practice. The intervention took place over eight weeks. Pre- and post- measures of language and literacy were taken for experimental and control groups. The intervention was successful in raising levels of concepts about print for the experimental group; receptive vocabulary and alphabet knowledge improved for the control group. There were no significant changes in measures of expressive vocabulary, rhyme and initial sounds. For students in both groups, gender was associated with rhyme, and concepts of print; parent educational level was associated with alphabet knowledge, and expressive vocabulary
