    La Atalanta de Doctor Zay: Testimonio del uso y de la recreación de la mitología clásica por parte de las escritoras norteamericanas del siglo XIX

    Este artículo destaca el mérito de una escritora victoriana norteamericana, Elizabeth Stuart Phelps (1844-1911), al demostrar tener suficientes conocimientos sobre mitología como para usarlos con maestría en sus escritos literarios en una época en que a las mujeres se les negaba el acceso a ciertos niveles de formación. Concretamente, analizo la nueva versión del mito de Atalanta que muestra en su novela Doctor Zay con el fin de hacer descubrir a las mujeres nuevas posibilidades para su futuro. This article highlights the merit of a Victorian American writer, Elizabeth Stuart Phelps (1844-1911), as she had enough classical knowledge about mythology to use it skilfully in her literary writing at a time when women were not allowed access to a certain level of education. I concretely analyse the new version of the myth of Atalanta that she portrays in her novel Doctor Zay with the purpose of making women open their eyes to new possibilities for their lives

    This is a commented list of tick?s species collected on various wild and domestic animals, including the reports on scientifi c literature for the studied region. Most of animals were small or medium mammals. Carnivores were the main taxa group examined. Although, the pampas deer (Ozotocerus bezoarticus) and giant anteater (Mymercophaga tridactyla) also has a good representation on study. Among domestic animals, dogs, horses and cattle were examined. Summing up, 18 tick species were listed for the region. Sixteen were hard ticks (Ixodidae) and two soft ticks (Argasidae). Amblyomma sculptum was the most common and abundant hard tick. Ornithodoros rostratus (Argasidae) was very abundant, being the more important Argasidae tick on the study region. The correct author of Acentroptera is Guérin-Méneville, 1844; Acentroptera dejeani Guérin-Méneville, 1844, is here designated as the type species. Metazycera is the correct spelling of the genus described by Chevrolat, 1837; the type species is Hispa trimaculata Olivier, 1808, by monotypy; Metaxycera Baly, 1864 is an unjustified emendation

    Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 3255. Letter, 15 March 1878, of H. Victor Newcomb, Vice President of the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, in reply to Irvine Wells(?). He recollects that in 1863 his father paid about $3,000 in gold for “the Turner painting” now in Wells’s possession, and invites Wells to visit him and his wife at his “old homestead.” Includes Newcomb’s obituary and an article about his release in 1901 from a sanatarium in Central Valley, New York, where he had been confined for a mental illness
