Why is teacher change so hard in educational reforms?

Education reforms that aim to improve student learning usually employ strategies designed to promote teacher change. Despite sustained effort and investment in strategies for teacher change, it seems that educational reforms have had a limited impact on teachers and their pedagogical practices. One possible explanation is that these reforms base their strategies on a limited understanding of the process of teacher change. Validez de Contenido del Cuestionario de Reserva Cognitiva en adultos mayores peruanos

Este estudio instrumental buscó validar el contenido del Cuestionario de Reserva Cognitiva (CRC) para su aplicación en adultos mayores peruanos. Se empleó el juicio de expertos, siguiendo criterios como suficiencia, claridad, coherencia y relevancia. En las cuatro categorías, los valores del coeficiente V de Aiken oscilaron entre .88 y 1.00. Sin embargo, se realizaron modificaciones en los ítems con valores por debajo de .75 en el límite inferior del intervalo de confianza (IC 95%). Se concluye que el CRC presenta una buena evidencia de validez de contenido que lo hace apropiado para su uso en adultos mayores peruanos

Incidencia del síndrome de burnout sobre el desempeño docente en educación superior

The study in Venezuelan higher education teachers sought to determine the incidence of Burnout Syndrome. A qualitative-quantitative method was employed with 150 teachers, using the Maslach Burnout Inventory Test to measure emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal fulfillment. The results showed high levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, although most had high personal fulfillment in their work. This highlights the need to address the emotional problems of educators to improve their well-being and educational quality in Venezuela, suggesting interventions and psychosocial support to mitigate the effects of the syndrome in the educational community.El estudio en docentes venezolanos de educación superior buscó determinar la incidencia del Síndrome de Burnout. Se empleó un método cualicuantitativo con 150 docentes, utilizando el Maslach Burnout Inventory Test para medir agotamiento emocional, despersonalización y realización personal. Los resultados mostraron altos niveles de agotamiento emocional y despersonalización, aunque la mayoría tenía una alta realización personal en su trabajo. Esto resalta la necesidad de abordar los problemas emocionales de los educadores para mejorar su bienestar y la calidad educativa en Venezuela, sugiriendo intervenciones y apoyo psicosocial para mitigar los efectos del síndrome en la comunidad educativa

Usos y percepciones de las TIC: un estudio en personas mayores en Luján, Buenos Aires, desde el inicio del Covid-19

The progressive incursion of ICTs into society has created new forms of interaction. The objective of this study was to analyze the perception of people aged 60 years and over about the use of new technologies during the Covid-19 pandemic in the town of Luján, Buenos Aires, Argentina. The results show that the pandemic showed the speed of the advance of technology and the consequent changes in almost all practices of daily life. This situation demanded a rapid appropriation of the use of digital tools without considering the needs of the elderly.La progresiva incursión de las TIC en la sociedad ha creado nuevas formas de interacción. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la percepción de las personas de 60 años y más sobre el uso de las nuevas tecnologías durante la pandemia Covid-19 en la localidad de Luján, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Los resultados muestran que la pandemia dejó en evidencia la celeridad del avance de la tecnología y los consecuentes cambios en casi todas las prácticas de la vida cotidiana. Reimaginar los servicios de bienestar infantil en América Latina: Hacia comunidades de excelencia

Children facing extreme poverty, abuse, and neglect often lack empowering care in welfare settings. This study developed and tested a model curriculum for training caregivers in two Peruvian Residential Care Centers using a sequential explanatory mixed-methods longitudinal design with 26 participants over three years. Findings demonstrate the curriculum’s practical value for caregiver training and emphasize the necessity of shifting organizational culture toward trauma-informed, strengths-based, and motivational practices. Achieving this transformation depends on committed leadership and increased organizational awareness, underscoring the importance of holistic change for effective, empowering support in residential child welfare environments. Los niños afectados por pobreza extrema, abuso y abandono suelen carecer de cuidados empoderadores en entornos de asistencia social. Este estudio diseñó y probó un plan de estudios para la formación de cuidadores en dos centros residenciales peruanos, utilizando un diseño longitudinal secuencial explicativo de métodos mixtos con 26 participantes durante tres años. Los resultados muestran el valor práctico del programa y resaltan la necesidad de transformar la cultura organizativa hacia enfoques basados en el trauma, fortalezas y motivación. Esta transformación exige liderazgo comprometido y mayor conciencia organizacional para lograr un apoyo infantil eficaz y empoderador

Perspectivas educativas frente a la violencia doméstica hacia los hombres

This article focuses on the problem of men who have suffered domestic violence and who are sometimes stigmatized due to gender perspectives; this is where the role of education in addressing situations of domestic violence faced by men comes into tension. The general objective was “to analyze the role of education in addressing domestic violence against men”; and a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was used, taking the experience of six participants through interviews and a focus group. As results, types of violence and principles from education to address them were found.Este artículo enmarca como problema hombres que han sufrido violencia doméstica y que por perspectivas de género en ocasiones son estigmatizados; es ahí donde entra en tensión, el papel de La educación para abordar situaciones de violencia doméstica que afrontan los hombres. Se tuvo como objetivo general “analizar el rol de la educación frente a la violencia doméstica hacia los hombres”; y se utilizó un enfoque cualitativo con un diseño fenomenológico, tomando la experiencia de seis participantes mnediente entrevistas y grupo focal. In 19th century Lima, the mother-wife binomial propitiated the reorganization of the role and the spaces circulated by women. In this context, the “nineteenth-century plethora” arose, an invisible movement for much of the Peruvian art historiography. This research explores an essential question: how were the circuits and capital mechanisms of the literary and visual female artists of Lima constituted in the mid-nineteenth century? It is argued that social structures influenced their trajectories and struggles. At the same time, it highlights the need for incorporating a gender perspective sensitive to the situation of women in the field of cultural activities.En Lima decimonónica, el binomio madre-esposa propició una reorganización del rol y los espacios transitados por las mujeres. En este contexto, surge la “pléyade decimonónica”, movimiento invisibilizado en gran parte de la historiografía del arte peruano. Esta investigación parte de una pregunta esencial: ¿cómo se constituyeron los circuitos y mecanismos de capitales de las literatas y artistas plásticas limeñas a mediados del siglo XIX?
