Raising the Bar: Changes in the Oral Assessment for Students in the Colleges of Science and Engineering and Architecture and Environmental Design

Oral assessment of students participating in the Comprehensive English Oral Communication course for the Colleges of Science and Engineering and Architecture and Environmental Design has been on-going since the program\u27s inception. Students have spoken individually with a faculty member other than the one they experienced in the classroom. In order to alleviate passivity on the part of the students and the labor load on the part of the faculty members during the assessment process, the method of assessing the students was changed in the 2015 academic year. Part of the students enrolled in the program in the spring term and all of the students enrolled in the fall term in 2015 participated in student−student paired conversation assessments at the end of the term. A report of the changes are given herein

Understanding the mental states of critically ill children during play therapy

先天性心疾患と気管支喘息の2つの事例を通して、病弱児の心理について治療経過報告をもとに考察した。病弱であるがゆえに身近な死を遊戯療法などの中で扱うことの必要性や、身体そのものでなくイメージのレベルでも病気の意味を考えていくことが重要だと思われる。また、病弱児ならではの生活上の問題や家族との関係についての心理支援が必要性であろう。We examined two cases of treatment progress reports on critically ill children\u27s metal states, one with congenital heart disease and the other with bronchial asthma. We consider that it is important to think about being sick as a psychological image, rather than only something physical, and also about the necessity of dealing with the familiarity of death due to being sickly while in play therapy. Furthermore, we can understand that psychological support with the problem about their lives and families is essential for children who suffer from these diseases

The Performance Verification of the Air-Conditioning System of the Architecture & Environment Building and the Comfort Evaluation of the Provided Thermal Environment : A Study on Winter Measurements Taken in the Large Drawing Room

In July 2014, the construction of the Architecture & Environment Design building(No.5 Building)was completed at Kanto Gakuin University. This report aims to verify the performance of the air-conditioning system that was operated during winter time in the large-space drawing room on the top floor of the building, and to evaluate the thermal environment provided in the drawing room by the air-conditioning system. The air-conditioning system is configured with a duct system that employs a heat pump air conditioner, a floor type air-conditioning system that employs a gas heat pump(GHP)and ceiling fans. The vertical temperature distribution and the predicted mean vote(PMV)of the room atmosphere, which were obtained during operation, are used as indices, while the results of a questionnaire about warm/cold feelings are also taken into consideration, to evaluate the comfort

The Encounter of Wordsworth and Scott: : The Lowlands, Scotland, 1803

この論文ではワーズワス兄妹の1803年のスコットランド旅行の内、ハイランドを後にし、スターリングからエディンバラに入り、ラスウェイドのサー・ウォルター・スコット訪問、さらにローランド地方を旅しスコットとの親交を深め、彼と惜別の後グラスミアに帰るまでの足取りを、ドロシーの「旅行記」を主な手掛かりにして追う。兄妹の旅はスターリングからファルカークを経てエディンバラに入る。現代と同じようにロイヤル・マイルやホーリールード宮殿、アーサーズ・シート等を見て廻った彼らはさらにオールド・タウンを楽しんだ後、特に文人や出版関係者とは一切会うことなくエディンバラを発ち、次の宿泊地、エディンバラ南郊外のロスリンに向かった。ロスリンに着いた翌朝兄妹は朝早く起きて、北西数キロのラスウェイドにあったサー・ウォルター・スコットの夏のコテージに向かう。兄妹はかなり早朝に訪問したようで、スコット夫妻はまだ起きておらず、しばらく待った後面会し、彼らは朝食を共にする。ドロシーの旅行記にはその詳細はほとんど書かれていないが、彼らの話は午後まで続き、大いに気が合い、スコットは二日後にメルローズで再会する約束をして、兄妹をロスリンまで送った。この後ワーズワス兄妹はスコットにローランドのボーダー地方を案内され、メルローズからドライバラ、ジェドバラ、ホーイックに至り、スコットと惜別の後、ブランクホルム、ラングホルムを経てロングタウンに至り、グラスミアのタウンエンドに戻った
