    Proposal for a Faculty Support Strategy to Identify Students in Need of Early Assistance Based on Learning Activity Logs

    本研究は、学習ログデータ分析により「支援を要する学習者」を予測し、その状況に対応した個別学生サポートを行うための方略を担当教員に提案するところまでを一括りとした教員支援フレームワークを設計・開発しようとするものである。本稿ではまず予備調査として、授業出欠情報、LMSアクセス回数ならびにGPAのデータを用いて学習ログ分析モデル構築の試行を行い、その構築方法について検討した。さらに、インストラクショナル・デザイン(ID)のモデルや理論を応用したサポートを提供するために、「支援を要する学習者」の状況を説明する要因の分類について検討した。This study aims to design and develop a teacher support framework that predicts “learners in need of support” by analyzing learning activity log data and proposes strategies to teachers for providing individualized support to students in response to their situations. In this paper, as a preliminary study, we conducted a trial of building a learning log analysis model using data on class attendance, LMS access frequency, GPA, and whether or not students withdrew from University.     Effects and Future Prospects of Virtual Flipped Classrooms in Cross-border Pre-enrollment Education

    本研究は、国境を越えた編入留学プログラムにおける教育接続上の課題を改善することを目的としている。そのために、まず日本における大学入学前教育の効果測定と編入留学希望者の「仮想反転授業」に対する受容性を調査した。次にこれらの知見を基に、編入留学合格者を対象に「仮想反転授業」による留学前教育を実施した。本稿では、2020年度から開始した本研究の成果を総括し、その有効性を検証すると共に、今後の展望について考察する。This study aims to improve the educational issues of connectivity in cross-border incorporative program. To this end, we first investigated the effectiveness of pre-university education in Japan and the acceptability of 'virtual flipped classrooms' among students aspiring to cross-border incorporative program. Next, based on these findings, we implemented pre-overseas abroad education using 'virtual flipped classrooms' for students who have gained admission. This paper summarizes the results of the present research which have started from 2020, examines its effectiveness and discusses future prospects.departmental bulletin pape

    A Consideration of High-school Students Wearing Makeup Suitable for Office Work

    本稿は,校則でメイク解禁に踏み切った県立愛知商業高等学校の事例を通して高校生とメイクのあり方について考察するものである。同校では,2021年7月より毎週金曜日を私服で登校するオフィスカジュアルデーと定めた。「メイクもしてみたい」という生徒たちの要望に応えて,2024年5月からは,オフィスカジュアルデーに限ってメイク登校も認めるよう校則を変更した。生徒会が主導してルールを決め,保護者やOB・OGにもメイクの意義や実施方法を説明し,理解を得られるよう進めたのである。生徒自身がTPOに合った装いを考える機会を設け,試行錯誤を繰り返しながら実践的に学ぶ。実学を貴ぶ商業高校ならではのアイディアであり,生徒のニーズとやる気を後押しする取り組みといえよう。This paper considers the relationship between high school students and makeup, using the case of Aichi Commercial High School, where school regulations had prohibited wearing makeup. In July 2021, the school designated every Friday "office casual day," on which students could come to school in their own clothing instead of school uniforms. After students said that they would like to try wearing makeup to school too, in May 2024 the school revised its school regulations to permit students to come to school wearing makeup on office casual day only. This was conducted through deciding on rules under the leadership of the student council, explanation by guardians and alumni of the meaning of makeup and how to wear it, and efforts to encourage understanding. Students themselves were provided with opportunities to think about their appearances in line with the TPO concept and learn practically through trial and error. This idea befitting a commercial high school, which values practical learning, can be described as an initiative to meet student needs and encourage motivation.departmental bulletin pape

    Challenges and Prospects of Programming Education in Educational Settings Anticipating the Arrival of the AI Era

    本研究は,AI時代における日本のプログラミング教育の現状と課題を分析し,今後の方向性を提案するものである。特に,初等教育から高等教育に至る各段階での教育内容の接続性や,専門教員の不足,地域間格差,生成AIの教育利用といった主要な課題に焦点を当てている。また,プログラミング教育を通じた論理的思考力や問題解決能力の育成の重要性を強調するとともに,防災教育や地域課題解決への応用可能性についても検討している。本研究は,教員研修の充実,柔軟なカリキュラム設計,ICT環境の整備,さらには国際事例を活用した政策立案の必要性を提言し,これらを通じて日本独自の教育モデル構築を目指すものである。This study analyzes the current state and challenges of programming education in Japan in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), and proposes directions for future development. It focuses on key issues such as the connectivity of educational content across various stages from primary to higher education, the shortage of specialized educators, regional disparities, and the use of generative AI in education. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the importance of fostering logical thinking and problem-solving skills through programming education, as well as exploring its potential applications in disaster risk reduction education and addressing local community issues. The study advocates for enhancing teacher training, designing flexible curricula, improving ICT infrastructure, and formulating policies based on international best practices, with the ultimate goal of establishing a unique educational model for Japan.departmental bulletin pape

    An Investigation into Sound Materials and Instruction for Primary School Students in Japan

    本研究は, 令和2(2020)年度の検定を経て2024年度から使用されている小学校英語(外国語)の検定教科書, 教授用資料に加えて学習者が自主学習するための教科書準拠の市販教材について,音声データを含め,発音指導の扱いを分析したものである。検定教科書旧版と変わらず,具体的な指導助言が乏しく、特に個別音は出版社によって扱いに差があった。市販教材も同様である。QRコードを利用して音声を提供するなど、学習者にとって利用しやすくなっている。しかし,いずれも音声にはリズムが不適切なものが多数あり, 市販教材では説明のない「カタカナ表記」が示されているなど改善の余地があることが判明した。一方で、将来英語教育を担う教職課程の学生は英語の音声について、紛らわしい音に注意を払ったり、授業では英語を主要言語として指導したいと考えているなど意識に変化が見られた。This study aims to analyze supplementary material books for schoolchildren based on authorized English textbooks and actual conditions of teaching pronunciation in classrooms and to offer opinions for improvement. The discussion is focused on sound descriptions and teachers’ awareness. As a result, there are many problems with both materials and teachers’ consciousness, for example, using katakana descriptions of pronunciation, inappropriate model sounds through the QR cord, such as rhythm and stress, and generous judgment on unacceptable input. Moreover, it is necessary for textbook publishers not only to give useful and definite descriptions of teaching English pronunciation in the teachers’ guidebooks but also to give appropriate mode sounds and accurate judgment AI systems.departmental bulletin pape

    Regional University Promotion and University Mergers in South Korea: Focusing on the Glocal University 30 Project in 2023

    日本の先行事例として,少子化が深刻な韓国の高等教育政策に注目した。まず高等教育史を概観して,主要な政策課題を質と量の均衡,首都圏と他地域の均衡に整理し,構造改革・規模縮小にいたる経緯を述べた。ついで2022年以降の尹政権の高等教育政策から,地域革新中心大学支援体系(RISE),留学生誘致30万人政策,グローカル大学30政策を説明し,2023年にグローカル大学として選定された10事例の概要を述べて目的(競争力の主体)により分類した。自治体は,これに選定された大学が地域の発展に貢献することを期待し,RISEの施策により地域に必要な人材育成と進学機会の均等などをはかるのではないか。The subject of this study is South Korea's higher education policy in the context of a declining birthrate, which will serve as a precedent for Japan. First, we provide an overview of the history of higher education in South Korea, pointing out that the main issues are balancing quality and quantity, and balancing the metropolitan area and other regions. Furthermore, the process that led to the downsizing of higher education is described. Next, we explain the three main higher education policies of the current Yoon administration after 2022. In particular, with regard to the Glocal University 30 policy, an overview and characteristics of the ten universities selected for 2023 are described. The major findings are as follows: 1. The trend of the 18-year-old population can be predicted at the time of birth of that generation. The best higher education policy for Korea would be to halve the expansion in the 1990s and avoid the major contraction after 2000. 2. The Regional Innovation System & Education (RISE) is a policy that transfers significant administrative and financial authority from the central government to local governments. In South Korea, the number of local private universities going bankrupt is expected to increase between 2025 and 2030. The RISE will reduce the responsibility of the president and the central government for this situation. 3. The distinctive feature of the Study Korea 300k Project to attract 300,000 international students is its linkage with regional development. A comprehensive policy will be developed that includes the invitation of those who wish to study in South Korea, the choice of language of instruction, employment during their studies, and settlement after graduation. However, attracting international students is an area in which many countries compete, and we look forward to future result. 4. The Glocal University 30 initiative is a policy to foster a small number of competitive universities outside the metropolitan area. 5. South Korea's policy of downsizing universities in the 2000s was based on university evaluations, but under the Yoon administration this has shifted to a combination of focused investment in competitive universities and local government policy decisions based on RISE. Local governments will achieve the economic growth through the contributions of the Glocal 30 universities and will use RISE to develop the human resources their regions need and ensure equal opportunities for higher education.departmental bulletin pape

    An Inspection Survey on the Educational Culture in the Country of Georgia: Based on the Narratives of University Faculties and University Students about Education in the Country of Georgia

    本論文の目的は,発話データと観察データをもとにした当該社会の文化的ナラティヴ分析の手法を用いて,ジョージアの人々の市民性や国民性に対する学校教育の影響を考察することである。 その結果,次のことが明らかになった。ジョージアの教育文化の特徴として,以下の3点が捉えられた。1つ目は,制度面ではEUへの加盟を意識した調整が進められてきており,人々の意識においても同様の傾向が認められたこと,2つ目は,〈歓待の精神〉を人々が自分たちのナショナル・アイデンティティとして自認し,誇りを持ってそれが語られていること,3つ目は自国の歴史と文化へのリスペクトの高さである。 上記の2点目と3点目の市民性や国民性に関わることについては,学校カリキュラムの影響は大きいものの,それ以上に社会全体が抱える歴史や文化の影響を大きく受けていることが明らかになった。しかし,それは,歴史や文化単独の影響というよりは,学校カリキュラムを通してのフォーマルな学びと,日常的なインフォーマルな学びの,輻輳的学修の成果と言うべきものであった。The purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of the school education on the citizenship and national identity of the Georgian people, using the method of cultural narrative analysis of the society based on spoken and observational data. Then, the obtained results are as follows; (1) While adjustment to EU accession has been made in the institutional aspects, the same tendency was observed in people's consciousness. (2) They recognized the “spirit of hospitality” as their national identity and spoke of it with pride. (3) They showed a high level of respect for their country’s history and culture. It has become clear that while the above-mentioned citizenship and national identity were greatly influenced by the school curriculum, they are even more influenced by the history and culture of the society as a whole. This was not the result of the influence of the history and culture alone, but rather the result of the convergent learning, which is a combination of formal learning through the school curriculum and informal learning on a daily basis.departmental bulletin pape

    Proposal of Topics that Students Can Actively Engage Within Mathematics Classes

    本稿では,中学校の数学の授業にける「主体的で協働的な」学習状況を実現するために,先行実践等から生徒が主体的に取り組む題材の要素を整理した。主体的な学びを促進する題材の要素として,「問題解決の糸口を見つけ出せること」「身近で現実的なものであること」「ちょうどよい難度であること」「思考を深めるための要素が含まれていること」が重要であると分かった。それをもとに,四角形の性質や相似の考え方を活用し,自ら条件を設定し,四角形の新たな分類方法を考える授業を提案した。In this paper, in order to realize a "proactive and collaborative" learning situation in junior high school mathematics classes, we have summarized the elements of subject matter that students can work on proactively based on previous practice etc. We found that important elements of subject matter that promote proactive learning are "being able to find a clue to solving the problem," "being familiar and realistic," "being of just the right level of difficulty," and "including elements that deepen thinking." Based on this, we proposed a lesson that utilizes the classification of quadrilaterals and the idea of similarity, in which students set their own conditions and create classification diagrams through trial and error in the process of thinking of new classification methods.     オーラルコミュニケーション 1 における Flipgrid の統合に関する記述的研究

    この研究の目的は、オンラインビデオプラットフォームであるFlipgridを「オーラルコミュニケーション1」の授業に統合する方法を検討することであった。参加者は、2022年、2023年、2024年の春学期に在籍していた観光学科の1年生であった。研究の結果によれば、参加傾向が一貫して学生の関与の高さを示しており、非同期型の協働活動が学生の間で最も高い反応を示すことが明らかとなった。言語学習への学生の関与を向上させる目的でFlipgridを使用する際のガイドラインを提供するために、この研究において、Flipgridがシラバスにどのように組み込まれ、コースの補助活動としてどのように活用されたかという説明がなされることになると考えている。The purpose of this study was to examine the integration of Flipgrid, an online video platform, in Oral Communication 1. The participants consisted of first year tourism majors enrolled in the spring semesters of 2022, 2023, and 2024. Results indicated that participation trends show consistent student engagement, with asynchronous collaborative activities having the highest responses among students. The ways in which Flipgrid was incorporated in the syllabus and was utilized as a supplementary activity for the course will be explained to provide guidelines for using it to enhance student engagement in language learning.departmental bulletin pape
