Statistical analysis of the equivalent design rainfall

    Get PDF
Statistical analyses of rainfall data are used for the design of sewerage systems and pump-stations, for the evaluation of the duration and the frequency of overflow in runoff detention facilities, for the determination of the critical influence on a municipal wastewater-treatment plant or for the protection of watercourses from storm-water runoff (e.g., from highways). The basic data in this calculation are the intensity and the duration of a rainstorm. Different procedures used in the analysis of Equivalent Design Rainfall (EDR) in Slovenia and abroad are described. The stochastic model used is presented in more detail because of its applicability for the determination of the probability of the occurrence of partial rainfalls of higher frequencies and the determination of the lower limit of rainfall evaluation. Computation procedures and the results of the evaluation of rainfall data according to the stochastic model are presented for Ljubljana

Starting Points for the Monitoring and Evaluation of Regional Policy in Slovenia

    Get PDF
Regional policy represents an important segment of influences on changes to spatial and socioeconom-ic structures. These influences can be planned or not and can either be useful or even create new disparities. To avoid the latter it is necessary to establish a system of monitoring and evaluating regional policies, which are key factors in guaranteeing the quality and rationality of the implementation of programs that are intended to promote regional development. Monitoring and evaluation provide directions for the cor-rection of programs and at the same time offer starting points for planning new activities. Here they serve their function only if the independence of their implementation is guaranteed and if the mechanisms for their implementation are properly established

Na koncu članka so predlagane praktične reŔitve za zdravstvene in vadbene ustanove pri obravnavi bolnikov z BVK.Low back pain is one of the most common health problems nowadays. In the individuals with low back pain numerous alterations in neuromuscular functions of the trunk can be observed. Aetiology of low back pain is complex and often depends on psychosomatic status. Therefore, it is important to understand the biomechanical characteristics, which are altered in low back pain patients. Objective assessment of these alterations allows detection of acause or a consequence of low back pain. Even though studies demonstrated changes in neuromuscular functions of the trunk in low back pain patients, is this kind of assessment limited to the research and is not used in a clinical practice. The purpose of this paper is to present the technical characteristics of the integrated measurement system for valid and objective assessment of the trunk neuromuscular functions, which was developed as part of the research project carried out between the university and the industry. We also empirically and graphically present a case study of one whole measurement on a young healthy person. At the end of the paper we discuss practical solutions for health and sport institutions when treating low back pain patients

Slovenian food self-sufficiency is far below the European Union average, so it is necessary to protect the agricultural land and with instruments of land policies, such as land consolidation, to encourage greater use of them. In the thesis, land consolidations of agricultural lands, their objectives and effects are presented firstly. Procedures of land consolidations are described and problems which arise in the implementation of land consolidations are presented. Furthermore, actual Slovenian legislation is examined in the field of land consolidations. Here, entire procedures of land consolidation with all components are presented and meliorations are mentioned, which are often conducted at the same time as land consolidations. The valuation of agricultural land, which represents one of the most important stages of the whole process of a land consolidation, is discussed separately and in detail. Valuation of agricultural land is very important phase for a fair and successful implementation of the whole process and the most common cause of complaints by the owners. Factors which must be considered in land valuation are presented. In the last part of the thesis, the valuation of agricultural land for land consolidation area Mostje ā€“ JurÅ”inci is presented and analysed

The present work focuses on Stream Visual Assessment Protocol (SVAP). In first part is\ud presented a theory background of the protocol. River morphology, hydrologic and\ud morphological processes and ecological structure of river corridor are described in the article.\ud In continuation of the work there is a review of SVAP method. Description of 15 SVAP\ud characteristics, procedure of usage and protocol worksheet are demonstrated in the paper. In\ud the last part of the article there is an example of SVAP aplication on the corridor of Dragonja\ud river. Twelve test assessment reaches were ecomorphological evalueted. The results of\ud aplication are compered with results of sinthesis method, I.F.F. (Indice di FunzionalitĆ \ud Fluviale), and German GSGB (GewƤsserstrukturgĆ¼tebewertung) method. In conclusion of the\ud present work, there are some preposals for modification SVAP

Ex-post cost-benefit analysis of investment projects as an integral part of construction project management

Investments have crucial importance in the development and growth of the company. The volume of investments and their performance significantly determine the economic conditions in the future, and have long-term consequences on business and its success as well as the entire economy. Since the resources for the investments are usually limited and usually the main objective of investment is a profit or at least adeguate level of benefits, it is important that the project preparation considers all possible factors which affect the success of the investment. Therefore, there are different methods for assessing the effectiveness of the investment applied. Usually the prediction of the effects of investment (ex-ante) is being performed less often one can see the analysis of the effects of investment and the analysis of the effects of investment analysis (ex-post). Analysis of the effects of investment is extremely important, as it allows for corrections and improves the prediction of the effects of the following investments their corrections in the thesis, I have focused primarily on ex-post analysis, which analyzes the performance of the investments after they were developed. The focus is to determine whether the investment achieved its objectives in the framework of foreseen costs and time or there is unforeseen factors that have a negative impact on the final result. Ex-post analysis in their findings also considers the previous (ex-ante) analysis. I have presented an example of ex-post analysis of Bolu Mountain Tunnel, which was conducted three years after the completion of the project. Unfortunately was the availability of the ex-post analysis of the investments in Slovenia quite limited
