The relativistic impulse approximation for the exclusive electrodisintegration of the deuteron

    Get PDF
The electrodisintegration of the deuteron in the frame of the Bethe-Salpeter approach with a separable kernel of the nucleon-nucleon interaction is considered. This conception keeps the covariance of a description of the process. A comparison of relativistic and nonrelativistic calculations is presented. The factorization of the cross section of the reaction in the impulse approximation is obtained by analytical calculations. It is shown that the photon-neutron interaction plays an important role.Comment: 31 pages, 14 figures, 1 tabl

Nocturnal Oximetry-based Evaluation of Habitually Snoring Children

    Get PDF
Rationale: The vast majority of children around the world undergoing adenotonsillectomy for obstructive sleep apnea–hypopnea syndrome (OSA) are not objectively diagnosed by nocturnal polysomnography because of access availability and cost issues. Automated analysis of nocturnal oximetry (nSpO2), which is readily and globally available, could potentially provide a reliable and convenient diagnostic approach for pediatric OSA. Methods: DeidentifiednSpO2 recordings froma total of 4,191 children originating from13 pediatric sleep laboratories around the worldwere prospectively evaluated after developing and validating an automated neural network algorithm using an initial set of single-channel nSpO2 recordings from 589 patients referred for suspected OSA. Measurements and Main Results: The automatically estimated apnea–hypopnea index (AHI) showed high agreement with AHI from conventional polysomnography (intraclass correlation coefficient, 0.785) when tested in 3,602 additional subjects. Further assessment on the widely used AHI cutoff points of 1, 5, and 10 events/h revealed an incremental diagnostic ability (75.2, 81.7, and 90.2% accuracy; 0.788, 0.854, and 0.913 area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, respectively). Conclusions: Neural network–based automated analyses of nSpO2 recordings provide accurate identification of OSA severity among habitually snoring children with a high pretest probability of OSA. Thus, nocturnal oximetry may enable a simple and effective diagnostic alternative to nocturnal polysomnography, leading to more timely interventions and potentially improved outcomes.Supported in part by project VA037 U16 from the Consejer´ıa de Educacio´ n de la Junta de Castilla y Leo´ n and the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), project RTC-2015-3446-1 from the Ministerio de Econom´ıa y Competitividad and FEDER, and project 153/2015 of the Sociedad Espan˜ ola de Neumolog´ıa y Cirug´ıa Tora´ cica (SEPAR). * This paper was made according to the program No 14 of fundamental scientific research of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the project "Intellectual Systems Based on Multilevel Domain Models".In this article the notion of a mathematical model of domain ontology is introduced. The mathematical apparatus (unenriched logical relationship systems) is essentially used. The representation of various elements of domain ontology in its model is considered. These elements are terms for situation description and situations themselves, knowledge and terms for knowledge description, mathematical terms and constructions, auxiliary terms and ontological agreements. The notion of a domain model is discussed. The notions of a precise ontology and precise conceptualization are introduced. The structures of situations and knowledge and also their properties are considered. Merits and demerits of various classes of the domain ontology models are discussed

A Memetic Algorithm for Logic Circuit Design

    Get PDF
Memetic Algorithms (MAs) have shown to be very effective in solving many hard combinatorial optimization problems. In this perspective, this paper presents a MA for combinational logic circuits synthesis. The proposed MA combines a Genetic Algorithm (GA) for digital circuit design with the gate type local search (GTLS). The combination of a global and a local search is a strategy used by many successful hybrid optimization approaches. The main idea is to apply a local refinement to an Evolutionary Algorithm (EA) in order to improve the fitness of the individuals in the population. The obtained results indicate that the MA reduces the number of generations required to reach the solutions and its standard deviation while improves the final fitness function.N/

Comparison of different orders padé fractional order PD0.5 control algorithm implementations

    Get PDF
This paper studies the performance of different order Padé Fractional Order (FO) PD0.5 controllers applied to the leg joint control of a hexapod robot with two dof legs and joint actuators with saturation. For simulation purposes the robot prescribed motion is characterized through several locomotion variables and for the walking performance evaluation are used two indices, one based on the mean absolute density of energy per travelled distance and the other on the hip trajectory errors. A set of simulation experiments reveals the influence of the different order Padé PD0.5 controllers tuning upon the proposed indices.N/
