An Optimized Hybrid Modulation Scheme for Reducing Conduction Losses in Dual Active Bridge Converters
A linearized hybrid modulation scheme for the dual active bridge (DAB) converter is proposed in this article. For the purpose of minimizing the conduction losses dissipated on the transformer and the power transistors, an optimal relationship function between the two control variables employed in extended phase shift (EPS) modulation can be derived. However, the obtained relationship function is a complex expression, which is not good for simple on-line control. Hence, a linearized modulation scheme is proposed in this article. This modulation scheme can achieve a quasi-minimum root-mean-square (rms) value of the leakage inductance current for the same output power. Meanwhile, the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) of the power transistors can be achieved over the whole power range. The power transfer capability is also kept the same as the optimal EPS scheme. Finally, experiments are conducted on a laboratory prototype to validate the effect of the linearized modulation scheme on the reduction of conduction losses. The experimental results present an improved converter efficiency and the realization of ZVS.</p
The Interpretation of Experimental Observation Data for the Development of Mechanisms based Creep Damage Constitutive Equations for High Chromium Steel
It is very important to design a safe factor or estimating the remain lifetime for electric power plant components of steam pipes which mostly manufacture by high chromium steels and work at high temperature and low stress level. The author will develop the mechanisms based on creep damage constitutive equations for high chromium steel under lows stress in initial stage: (1) Creep cavities mostly formed attaching with the precipitation of Laves phase or on grain boundary for high chromium steel under low stress. The Laves phase should play an active role in the nucleation of creep cavities and suggest to explore the function between cavity nucleation and the evolution of Laves phase; (2) The dominant cavity nucleation mechanism is adapted to high chromium steels under low stress level; (3) Brittle intergranluar model is appropriate for high chromium steels at high temperature under low stress level; (4) High density number of cavity of crept test high chromium steel at high temperature under low stress could be as fracture criterion
Ball-Scale Based Hierarchical Multi-Object Recognition in 3D Medical Images
This paper investigates, using prior shape models and the concept of ball
scale (b-scale), ways of automatically recognizing objects in 3D images without
performing elaborate searches or optimization. That is, the goal is to place
the model in a single shot close to the right pose (position, orientation, and
scale) in a given image so that the model boundaries fall in the close vicinity
of object boundaries in the image. This is achieved via the following set of
key ideas: (a) A semi-automatic way of constructing a multi-object shape model
assembly. (b) A novel strategy of encoding, via b-scale, the pose relationship
between objects in the training images and their intensity patterns captured in
b-scale images. (c) A hierarchical mechanism of positioning the model, in a
one-shot way, in a given image from a knowledge of the learnt pose relationship
and the b-scale image of the given image to be segmented. The evaluation
results on a set of 20 routine clinical abdominal female and male CT data sets
indicate the following: (1) Incorporating a large number of objects improves
the recognition accuracy dramatically. (2) The recognition algorithm can be
thought as a hierarchical framework such that quick replacement of the model
assembly is defined as coarse recognition and delineation itself is known as
finest recognition. (3) Scale yields useful information about the relationship
between the model assembly and any given image such that the recognition
results in a placement of the model close to the actual pose without doing any
elaborate searches or optimization. (4) Effective object recognition can make
delineation most accurate.Comment: This paper was published and presented in SPIE Medical Imaging 201
A Formal Sociologic Study of Free Will
We make a formal sociologic study of the concept of free will. By using the
language of mathematics and logic, we define what we call everlasting
societies. Everlasting societies never age: persons never age, and the goods of
the society are indestructible. The infinite history of an everlasting society
unfolds by following deterministic and probabilistic laws that do their best to
satisfy the free will of all the persons of the society.
We define three possible kinds of histories for everlasting societies:
primitive histories, good histories, and golden histories. In primitive
histories, persons are inherently selfish, and they use their free will to
obtain the personal ownerships of all the goods of the society. In good
histories, persons are inherently good, and they use their free will to
distribute the goods of the society. In good histories, a person is not only
able to desire the personal ownership of goods, but is also able to desire that
a good be owned by another person. In golden histories, free will is bound by
the ethic of reciprocity, which states that "you should wish upon others as you
would like others to wish upon yourself". In golden societies, the ethic of
reciprocity becomes a law that partially binds free will, and that must be
abided at all times. In other words, the verb "should" becomes the verb "must"
