    Multi-Agent Cooperation for Particle Accelerator Control

    We present practical investigations in a real industrial controls environment for justifying theoretical DAI (Distributed Artificial Intelligence) results, and we discuss theoretical aspects of practical investigations for accelerator control and operation. A generalized hypothesis is introduced, based on a unified view of control, monitoring, diagnosis, maintenance and repair tasks leading to a general method of cooperation for expert systems by exchanging hypotheses. This has been tested for task and result sharing cooperation scenarios. Generalized hypotheses also allow us to treat the repetitive diagnosis-recovery cycle as task sharing cooperation. Problems with such a loop or even recursive calls between the different agents are discussed

    The Influence of Multi-agent Cooperation on the Efficiency of Taxi Dispatching

    The paper deals with the problem of the optimal collaboration scheme in taxi dispatching between customers, taxi drivers and the dispatcher. The authors propose three strategies that differ by the amount of information exchanged between agents and the intensity of cooperation between taxi drivers and the dispatcher. The strategies are evaluated by means of a microscopic multi-agent transport simulator (MATSim) coupled with a dynamic vehicle routing optimizer (DVRP Optimizer), which allows to realistically simulate dynamic taxi services as one of several different transport means, all embedded into a realistic environment. The evaluation is carried out on a scenario of the Polish city of Mielec. The results obtained prove that the cooperation between the dispatcher and taxi drivers is of the utmost importance, while the customer–dispatcher communication may be reduced to minimum and compensated by the use of more sophisticated dispatching strategies, thereby not affecting the quality of service

    Multi-Agent Cooperation for optimizing Weight of Electrical Aircraft Harnesses

    This paper deals with minimizing aircraft electrical system weight. Because of technological advances that are spreading, electrical system of aircraft is more complex to design and requires new way to be conceived in order to reduce its weight. This paper describes how to optimize weight of harnesses thanks to the Adaptive Multi-Agent System approach. This approach is based on agent cooperation which makes global function of system emerge. Communication between agents is the focus of this approach. We will develop this approach and apply it to the weight optimisation problem. The developed software provides results that are either equivalent or better than those of classical approaches. Moreover, this software may be a precious help to engineer in charge of designing harnesses as it enables to make different tests in a quasi-real time
