Interface usability analysis of selected streaming services in Poland

The aim of this paper is to analyse the interface quality of selected services providing video-on-demand on the Polish internet market. Interfaces of three services were evaluated (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Player). The evaluation was conducted using an expert review, an eye-tracking study, and an accessibility assessment using the WAVE web tool. For the study, a research thesis was established – Netflix has the most usable interface among the three streaming portal interfaces studied. Tekst – sytuacja – kontekst w dyskusji

Celem artykułu jest uchwycenie sposobów wiązania tekstu z sytuacją, charakterystycznych dla dyskusji politycznych toczonych w mediach. Elementy sytuacji, które zostają zakodowane w tekście tworzą kontekst. Specyficzność powiązań tych elementów daje się zauważyć nie tylko w bieżącej sytuacji komunikacyjnej, która jest kreowana przez dziennikarzy i ich rozmówców w studiu, lecz także w odtwarzaniu elementów tła sytuacyjnego z przeszłości. Zakładamy, że najogólniejszy sposób porządkowania komponentów sytuacji jest skorelowany z gatunkową i dyskursywną formą wypowiedzi. Badania przebiegu dyskusji wskazują, że typowa dla niej jest selekcja elementów tła pozajęzykowego, umieszczanie ich w siatkach różnych relacji, problematyzowanie tematu oraz zderzanie różnych kontekstów.The aim of the article is to capture the typical ways in which texts are linked with situations during the debates in the media. The elements of a situation which are coded in the text constitute a context. Uniqueness of connections between these elements can be noticed not only in the current communicative situation, which is created by the journalists and their studio guests, but also by showing elements of situational background from the past. We are assuming that the most general way of arranging components of a situation is co-related to the typical and discursive form of a statement. Research shows that selecting elements of the outside language background is typical for debates, along with putting them in a relational network, problematizing the topic, and confronting different contexts

Comparative analysis of web applications implemented in: PHP and Python

This article presents a comparative analysis of two web applications implemented in PHP and Python. Test applications were created and equipped with the same functionality used in tests consisting in measuring the server response times to INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE requests - handling database operations. Determinanty wyborów zakupowych na polskim rynku produktów kosmetycznych w świetle koncepcji zrównoważonego rozwoju i gospodarki cyrkularnej

The purpose of this article is to examine to what degree discussion in the media and at conferences and seminars, and new EU regulations related to sustainable development and circular economy affect consumer decisions while choosing products. In the research section, the cosmetics industry was chosen as a basis for analysis. In particular, the study seeks to determine: • whether purchasing choices in the cosmetics in- dustry are determined by sex? • to what degree purchasing decisions are affected by the age, education and place of residence of the consumer? • whether the purchasing choices of consumers will be able to influence the actions of businesses as regards implementing sustainable strategies? The article uses the results of a representative nationwide study1 aimed at diagnosing the behaviours of consumers faced with major external challenges and developing a social and educational campaign entitled "Opakowanie w sam raz" (The perfect packaging) on choosing products whose packaging size matches the product's size and of which the packaging itself is recyclable. The study focuses on a broad range of cosmetic products because findings show that in the case of cosmetic products the size of both external and direct packaging often does not match the contents.(fragment of text)Celem artykułu jest poszukiwanie odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jakim stopniu dyskusja w mediach, na konferencjach i seminariach oraz nowe regulacje unijne związane z koncepcją zrównoważonego rozwoju i gospodarką cyrkularną wpływają na decyzje konsumentek/konsumentów przy wyborze produktów. Bazą do analiz w części badawczej jest branża kosmetyczna. W szczególności w opracowaniu poszukuje się odpowiedzi na pytania: • Czy wybory zakupowe w branży kosmetycznej są determinowane płcią? • W jakim stopniu wiek, wykształcenie i miejsce za- mieszkania konsumentki/konsumenta ma wpływ na decyzję wyboru? • Czy konsumentki/konsumenci przez swoje wybory zakupowe będą w stanie wpłynąć na działania przedsiębiorstw w zakresie implementacji zrównoważonych strategii? W artykule wykorzystano wyniki reprezentatywnego ogólnopolskiego badania1, którego celem była diagnoza zachowań konsumentek i konsumentów wobec istotnych wyzwań zewnętrznych oraz przygotowanie kampanii społeczno-edukacyjnej "Opakowanie w sam raz", dotyczącej wyboru produktów, których wielkość opakowania jest adekwatna do wielkości produktu, a samo opakowanie jest recyklowalne. W badaniu skoncentrowano się na szeroko rozumianych produktach kosmetycznych, ponieważ właśnie w przypadku tych produktów stwierdzono, że wielkości zarówno opakowania zewnętrznego, jak i bezpośredniego są często nieadekwatne do zawartości.(fragment tekstu

Comparison of frameworks for developing web applications in PHP

The article presents a comparative analysis of two frameworks of PHP application development such as Laravel and Code Igniter. Test results obtained using the implemented implementation problem compare the application code size, code execution time, hardware resources used, as well as the complexity of the code. The purpose of the research was to present the possibilities of given application development skeletons, with the help of which the web application programmer will be able to decide on its use depending on the implemented solution
