Parallelised max-log-MAP model
A paralleliscd max-Log-MAP model (P-max-Log-MAP) that exploits the sub-word parallelism and very long instruction word architccture of a microprocessor or a digital signal processor (DSP) is presented. The proposed model rcduccs considerably thc computational complexity
of the max-Log-MAP algorithm; valid therefore facilitates easy implementation
Modem for the land mobile satellite channel
This paper describes a modem which has been developed and implemented using a digital signal processor (DSP) for a land mobile satellite demonstration system. The requirements of this digital modem were determined by the characteristics of the land mobile satellite channel. This paper discusses the algorithms which implement the differentiated phase shift keying (DPSK) demodulator. An algorithm is included which estimates symbol timing independent of carrier phase without the use of a square-law nonlinearity
Feasibility study for the advanced one-dimensional high temperature optical strain measurement system, phase 3
The Instrumentation and Control Technology Division is developing optical strain measurement systems for applications using high temperature wire and fiber specimens. This feasibility study has determined that stable optical signals can be obtained from specimens at temperatures beyond 2,400 C. A system using an area array sensor is proposed to alleviate off-axis decorrelation arising from rigid body motions. A digital signal processor (DSP) is recommended to perform speckle correlations at a rate near the data acquisition rate. Design parameters are discussed, and fundamental limits on the speckle shift strain measurement technique are defined
Comparison of three approaches on DSP based digital controlled 2-wheeler forward converter
This paper presents the design of digital controls of PWM DC-DC converters on a digital signal processor (DSP) based platform. Three digital control approaches are being investigated: discretisation of analog control, digital proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control, and deadbeat control. Simulation results of the three types of control are shown. Experimental results of a 25W 2-wheeler forward converter prototype are presented to verify the design.published_or_final_versio
Measuring Luminescence Lifetime With Help of a DSP
An instrument for measuring the lifetime of luminescence (fluorescence or phosphorescence) includes a digital signal processor (DSP) as the primary means of control, generation of excitation signals, and analysis of response signals. The DSP hardware in the present instrument makes it possible to switch among a variety of operating modes by making changes in software only
A DSP based general self-tuning observer controller
This treatise presents an implementation of a General Self-Tuning Observer Controller (GSTOC) for adaptive velocity control using a TMS320C25 Digital Signal Processor (DSP). The GSTOC is a structure based on modern control state-space theories, such as Kalman filters used as steady state or time-varying optimal state estimators, full state feedback using pole placement or optimal control theory and parameter estimation techniques
Single Event Effects (SEE) Testing of Embedded DSP Cores within Microsemi RTAX4000D Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Devices
Motivation for this work is: (1) Accurately characterize digital signal processor (DSP) core single-event effect (SEE) behavior (2) Test DSP cores across a large frequency range and across various input conditions (3) Isolate SEE analysis to DSP cores alone (4) Interpret SEE analysis in terms of single-event upsets (SEUs) and single-event transients (SETs) (5) Provide flight missions with accurate estimate of DSP core error rates and error signatures
