Existence of blow-up solutions for a non-linear equation with gradient term in RN

    Get PDF
AbstractIn this paper we study the existence of positive large solutions for the equation Δpu+λ|∇u|p−1=ρ(x)f(u) in RN, where f is a non-negative non-decreasing function and ρ is a non-negative continuous function. We show under some hypotheses detailed below the existence of positive solutions which blow up at infinity

    Travelling wave for absorption-convection-diffusion equations

In this paper, we use the phase plane method for finding finite travelling waves solutions for the diffusion-absorption-convection equation ut=A(∣ux∣p−2ux)x+B(un)x−Cuq,quad(x,t)inmathbbRimesmathbbR+. u_t=A(|u_x|^{p-2}u_{x})_x+B(u^n)_x-Cu^q, quad (x,t)in mathbb{R}imes mathbb{R}^{+}. We show that the existence of solutions which depends on the parameters pp, qq and nn. Also we study the asymptotic behavior of these solutions

Using Instructional Games in Teaching Grammar: The Case of Moroccan EFL Common Core Students

    No full text
This paper reports on a quasi-experimental study that examines the use of instructional games in teaching grammar, and in particular, it explores the effect of tic-tac toe and board game on the present continuous and present simple. The study was conducted among 60 (N=60) Moroccan EFL common core students from two different high schools in Casablanca. All the participants took a pre-test prior to instruction and a post-test immediately after the training, which lasted three sessions. The experimental group (n=30) were instructed using instructional games, mainly tic-tac toe and board game. However, the control group (n=30) received no treatment. The experimental group was also given a feedback questionnaire at the end of the training. The data sets were submitted to SPSS, using the Independent T-test. The findings indicated that all the participants were equal in the pre-test. Nonetheless, the experimental group outscored the control group in the post test. The results of the feedback questionnaire were also in line with the whole-results of the study. It can be concluded that the tic-tac toe and board game had a momentous effect on the subjects’ understanding of the present simple and present continuous.

An Alternative Way of Teaching Reading to High School Students

    No full text
The aim of the present study was to investigate the implementation and effect of an alternative way of teaching reading—Reciprocal Teaching (RT)— on the performance of Moroccan EFL common core students in four comprehension-monitoring skills, namely questioning, summarizing, clarifying, and predicting. The intervention, which is ten sessions long, used an instructional reading approach that combines guided practice, scaffolding, and active involvement. Seventy-two students participated in this study. These were tested on two different occasions: pre-test and post-test. The experimental group received instruction in RT, whereas the control group did not have any treatment. The scores of all participants in the pre-test were equal. However, the findings revealed that the experimental group gained comprehension-monitoring skills and reading performance, whereas the control group did not show any change from the pre-test to the post-test

The Impact of Self-discipline on Classroom Management in Casablanca-Settat Middle/ High Schools

This paper examined the effect of self-discipline on classroom management in Casablanca-Settat private and public high/middle schools. The major purpose was to see the extent to which self-discipline is taught in these schools, to find out if Moroccan middle/high school teachers have received any training concerning the subject matter, and explore the importance of the latter in relation to classroom management. The single most important instrument used to conduct this study was an online questionnaire. A sample of 100 Moroccan EFL teachers participated in this survey. The findings revealed that self-discipline is not taught in Moroccan middle/high schools, and the results also showed that teachers did not receive any training with regard to self-discipline. The results further indicated that most teachers stressed the significance of self-discipline in enhancing classroom management. Various ways of how to implement self-discipline in the classroom are also discussed in this paper

Investigating the Effect of Reciprocal Teaching on Summarizing among Moroccan College Students

    No full text
The current quasi-experimental study examines the differential effect of Reciprocal Teaching (RT) on summarizing among Moroccan EFL university students. Sixty participants who took part in this study were tested prior to instruction (pre-test) and immediately after the training (post-test). The experimental group were trained using RT, whereas the control group did not receive any specific treatment. The training lasted three weeks, in which participants were requested to provide a precis of the three articles covered in training based on five macro-rules, including deletion of trivia, deletion of redundancy, superordination, selection or invention of a topic sentence (see Brown & Day, 1983). The results showed that all participants performed the same in the pre-test, but the experimental group scored higher than the comparison group in the immediate post-test

Multiple solutions for a quasilinear Schrödinger system of Kirchhoff type with critical exponents

This paper is devoted to the existence of solutions for a class of Kirchhoff type systems involving critical exponents. The proof of the main results is based on  concentration compactness principle related to critical elliptic systems due to Kang combined with genus theory
