Agglomeration Economies and Entrepreneurship in the ICT Industry

In this study indicators of agglomeration economies and their effect on entrepreneurship in the ICT industry are analysed in diverse urban contexts. Agglomeration economies have a stronger impact on new firm formation than on the growth of incumbent firms. Concentration and diversity both have a positive effect on new firm formation as well as on the growth of incumbent firms, while competition only has a positive effect on new firm formation. It is especially the effects of industrial diversity that are revealed to be sensitive to urban contexts: positive effects on new firm formation are attached to the connected cities and to the highly urbanized Randstad, and positive effects on firm growth to the intermediate zone, the connected cities and urban municipalities

Значення визначення адаптаційних процесів у хворих з гострою та хронічною бронхолегеневою патологією

Тип загальної неспецифічної адаптаційної реакції (стрес, орієнтування, спокійна та підвищена активація, переактивація) та стан механізмів адаптації вивчені у 126 хворих на бронхіальну астму, хронічне обструктивне захворювання легень, негоспітальну пневмонію. Встановлено, що хвороби органів дихання у гострому періоді частіше виникають на фоні стрес-реакції та реакції орієнтування. Лише у кожного десятого хворого з бронхолегеневою патологією спостерігається фізіологічний тип адаптації із задовільним станом її механізмів. З формуванням патофізіологічного типу адаптації погіршуються показники функції зовнішнього дихання.The types of general nonspecific adaptive reactions (stress, orientation, quiet and raised activation, overactivation, defective adaptation) and state of adaptations mechanism are studied in 126 patients with bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive bronchitis, acute pneumonia. It was established that the diseases of the respiratory system appear in most cases on the background of stress – reaction and orientation. Physiologic type of adaptation with satisfactory mechanisms is observed only in every tenth patients. Variety, economic growth and knowledge intensity of European regions: a spatial panel analysis

Although the theoretical framework on agglomeration externalities and the channels through which they influence the regional economy appear well established, the empirical evidence on their magnitude and impact has been rather ambiguous and inconclusive. Applying the concepts of related and unrelated variety to an interregional European dataset and using spatial panel analysis, this paper provides critical information on the type and functioning of agglomeration externalities in relation to regional heterogeneity in knowledge intensity and innovation. While businesses may attract potential offenders and thus be conducive to disorder, the number of employees could offset this by exercising social control on offenders. This study uses data from different sources to test this expectation across 278 Dutch neighborhoods in the four largest cities of the Netherlands, using multivariate multilevel analysis to disentangle individual perception differences of disorder and neighborhood effects. Attention is paid to traditional explanations of disorder (i.e., poverty, residential mobility, and ethnic heterogeneity). Results show a positive relationship between business presence and neighborhood disorder. We do not find consistent results of the number of employees (i.e., bigger businesses are not always better or worse). Our research demonstrates that the presence of neighborhood businesses could rival the effects of social disorganization theory

Хвороби колосу у озимої пшениці лісостепу України

Наводяться результати вивчення видового складу збудників хвороб колосу і зерна озимої пшениці. В результаті мікологічного аналізу визначили, що мікофлора хворого колосся представлена такими видами грибів: Mucor mucedo, Penicilium viridicatum, P. expansum, Alternaria alternata, A. tenussima, Cladosporium herbarum, Fusarium sporotrichiella, F.oxysporum, F. moniliforme, F. culmorum, F. graminearum, F. gibbosum. Серед грибів роду Fusarium найбільш поширеним є F. graminearum. До даного захворювання виділені відносно стійкі сорти: Деметра, Ростиславна, Багіра, Сніжана.Приводятся результаты изучения видового состава возбудителей болезней колоса и семян озимой пшеницы. В результате микологического анализа определили, что микофлора больных колосьев представлена такими видами грибов: Mucor mucedo, Penicillium viridicatum, P. expansum, Alternaria alternata, A. tenussima, Cladosporium herbarum, Fusarium sporotrichiella, F. oxysporum, F. moniliforme, F culmorum, F. graminearum, F. gibbosum. Среди грибов рода Fusarium наиболее распространенным является F. graminearum. К даному заболеванию выделены относительно устойчивые сорта: Деметра, Ростиславна, Багира, Снижана.Results of studying specific composition of pathogens of winter wheat head and seeds are given. Resulted from mycological analyze it was determined that mycoflora of attacked ears consists of such fungi species as Mucor mucedo, Penicillium viridicatum, P. expansum, Alternaria alternata, A. tenussima, Cladosporium herbarum, Fusarium sporotrichiella, F. oxysporum, F. moniliforme, F. culmorum, F. graminearum, F. gibbosum. F. graminerum was the most widespread species among Fusarium genus. Comparatively resistant against these disease cultivars Demetra, Rostyslavna, Bagira, Snizhana were singled out
