The learning process is said to be successful if students are able to achieve predetermined learning goals. This is also influenced by interactions that occur during the learning process in the classroom, including the accuracy of learning models and approaches. Classroom Action Research was carried out with the aim of improving student learning outcomes in social studies subjects using the Probel Based Learning model and the Teaching at The Right Level approach. The research method used is PTK (Classroom Action Research). The application of the Problem Based Learning learning model with the TaRL approach can improve the learning outcomes of students in social studies subjects in class 8D of Bojonegoro Integrated Model Middle School

Crowdsourcing platform for private tutoring (Tutor Society)

    Get PDF
Private tutoring in Malaysia is still quite young when compared to other countries in the world. Parents often find it quite difficult in finding the right tutors for their children in terms of cost and location wise. Our objectives served to create another cost-flexible alternative to finding private tutor that is closer, safer and more secure. The proposed product was introduced as Tutor Society, a crowdsourcing platform that offers services for private tutoring via crowd-sourcing private tutors available in the localized area. The proposed system was successfully developed albeit being the first version and the business modal was also developed and refined to suit other competitors and Malaysian structure. Several similar platform was found to exist however; the market is still big and therefore there are still opportunities to be taken. Further improvement was required to improve the interface of the system to make it more user friendly and strengthen Tutor Society branding. More aggressive and proactive marketing are also needed to ensure audiences are aware of our presences

A Preliminary Study of Livelihood Challenges in Water Settlement Area in Northern Sarawak, Malaysia

    Get PDF
Water settlement area, also known as water village, is situated above the water and is frequently referred to as a fishing village due to the majority of the population's occupation as fishermen. It consists of a cluster of typical river-long stilt settlements, most of which are located near or outside the city. This paper is a preliminary study in identifying the difficulties of sustaining a living in a water settlement area. The significance of this paper lies in its examination of the obstacles related to the safety of villagers on the water. In this article, qualitative face-to-face interviews with respondents served as the research method, and the obtained data were analysed using thematic analysis. There are three identified challenges that can affect community safety in this geographical area. Water village communities are among the most vulnerable populations, more likely than others to require humanitarian aid or be excluded from financial and social services. Consequently, this article can also be used as a relevant resource for the development and improvement of strategies related to the same problem that occurs in other villages on water and can increase the level of safety for villagers

Influences of Urban Growth On Urban Heat Island in Kuching City in Year of 2005 Until 2017

Urbanization has contributed significantly to global warming. Kuching city has grown rapidly in recent years as a result of favourable socioeconomic, political, and physical factors that will undoubtedly affect the urban climate and environment. Landsat Thematic Mapper (ETM+) imagery from 2005, 2010, 2016, and 2017 was used to determine the urban heat island effect by examining the relationship between land-use changes and land surface temperature (LST). The study discovered a significant increase in the built-up area of about 17.1 percent between 2005 and 2017 and a decline in barren land and vegetation areas of about 41.6 percent and 5.1 percent, respectively. Additionally, this study discovered that as land use changed from 2005 to 2017, the LST increased year after year. The findings of this study demonstrate that they are effective tools for urban planners and environmental scientists because they provide critical data for monitoring urban growth patterns and their impact on urban climat

The project is designed to coincide with the present-day generation that is more readily acceptable in terms of assessment methods that are parallel to their age, which is a technology-oriented age and not entirely dependent on traditional assessment methods. This project was specially created for first year students who register for the course. The CATS Model of e-assessments approach initiative is designed and aimed to correspond with the current generation and its assess method which is more acceptable to their age, particularly a technologically advanced method that is not fully reliant on traditional evaluation methods. As previously stated, this project is prepared specifically for first-year students enrolled in the Introduction to Social Sciences course

Development of Underground Land in Malaysia: The Need for Master Plan of Urban Underground Land Development

    Get PDF
Underground land development often takes place in the urban area where the cities are becoming increasingly overcrowded. The developer will face the challenge of how development is to be carried out in term of its land use, zoning, and also density, regarding the absent of the planning framework. The objective of the study is to explore the needs and the importance of planning framework in developing underground land. It is utmost important for Malaysia to be ready with the master plan for underground land development because the identification of the elements for the planning framework will drive to the sustainability of the development

The Vertical Land Use Zoning for Underground Space Development in Malaysia

    Get PDF
There is a demand for the development of underground space beneath alienated land by a third party other than the surface landowner. Arguments frequently arise because the surface landowner asserts that his rights extend to ownership extension, while the other party wishes to develop the underground space without interfering with the rights of others. Due to Malaysia's absent of land use zoning for underground space, the rights to develop underground space are ambiguous. Using a qualitative approach, this study will examine the role of land use zoning in assisting the development of underground spaces. Thematic analyses revealed three interconnected elements: underground land use zoning, standardisation of land category depths, and a buffer zone for surface and underground space ownership. Additionally, a comparative study was conducted between Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Japan, and Finland in order to determine the optimal strategy for zoning underground space land uses. At the conclusion of this paper, vertical land use zoning was also proposed

THE MATRIX OF LAND TENURE PROPERTY RIGHT FOR WATER SETTLEMENT AREA

    Get PDF
The Land Tenure Property Right (LTPR) concept is critical for establishing ownership and rights to land or property. Land is inextricably linked to a community's social identities, and it is critical for them to understand their rights. Water settlement areas are not included in the formal LTPR, which results in ambiguous rights, informal land tenure, and ambiguity regarding certain LTPR elements. As a result, this article will discuss the difficulties associated with LTPR in this area. The article employs a qualitative approach, with data collected via face-to-face interviews and analysed using thematic analysis. Three case studies are included, in which all of the villages are located in a water settlement area. Six challenges are identified in the context of LTPR that require revision and strengthening. By combining the general LTPR framework and the results, a Matrix of LTPR that meets the criteria in the water settlement area is produced
