On the system of partial differential equations arising in mean field type control
We discuss the system of Fokker-Planck and Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations
arising from the finite horizon control of McKean-Vlasov dynamics. We give
examples of existence and uniqueness results. Finally, we propose some simple
models for the motion of pedestrians and report about numerical simulations in
which we compare mean filed games and mean field type control
Mean field type control with congestion
We analyze some systems of partial differential equations arising in the
theory of mean field type control with congestion effects. We look for weak
solutions. Our main result is the existence and uniqueness of suitably defined
weak solutions, which are characterized as the optima of two optimal control
problems in duality
A new test methodology based on structural resonance for mode I fatigue delamination growth in an unidirectional composite
A specific device has been set up to test by vibration resonance the mode I fatigue delamination growth onset of composite laminates. This test system, based on the DCB test specimen, is a mass-spring-specimen dynamic system designed to resonate. The defined operating conditions allow performing delamination propagation tests under imposed load and stopping the test under reproducible conditions, identical to the ones recommended in the ASTM-D6115 standard. This system allows fatigue tests to be driven up to 100Hz, reducing the time taken by a factor of ten without detrimental heat being generated in the material. The effect of frequency on the fatigue delamination growth on mode I has been investigated through a comparison with standard tests performed at 10Hz. A decrease in resistance to the propagation of delamination is observed with the increase in frequency for the composite studied. This frequency effect seems to be a strain rate effect and was taken in consideration by using dynamical critical energy restitution rate for the G-N curve plotting
Testing for Pro-poorness of Growth, with an Application to Mexico
This paper proposes techniques to test whether growth has been pro-poor. We first review different definitions of pro-poorness and argue for the use of methods that can generate results that are robust over classes of pro-poor measures and ranges of poverty lines. We then provide statistical procedures that rely on the use of sample data to infer whether growth has been pro-poor in a population. We apply these procedures to Mexican household surveys for the years of 1992, 1998 and 2004. We find strong statistical evidence that Mexican growth has been absolutely anti-poor between 1992 and 1998, absolutely pro-poor between 1998 and 2004 and between 1992 and 2004, and relatively pro-poor between 1992 and 2004 and between 1998 and 2004. The relative assessment of the period between 1992 and 1998 is statistically too weak to leaad to a robust evaluation of that period.Pro-poor growth, poverty, inequality
Benchmarking of Mobility Networks Performances: Competitive Threat or Cooperative Tool?
This paper proposed a synthesis of the potential fields of application of benchmarking in the field of mobility, based on the most recent initiatives of the European Commission and practical applications. After a definition of the categories of benchmarking, the authors propose the possible scenarios in the next years : application by transport operators, by public authorities in charge of public transport, application in frontiers domains more then on the classical approach of the activity (passengers, other sectors, “no mans lands”). The main tools for benchmarking are proposed : method, common framework, consensus building and implementation of the results. No doubt that benchmarking contributes to a convergence process. it generates a positive retro-action in the management system of the benchmarkers : more benchmarking reduces the cost of access to the understanding of the performances and increase the value of the information resulting from the process.Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies.
