Ethics is a branch of philosophy that examines the principles at the basis of human behavior and discusses concepts such as good, bad, right, and wrong. Teachers need to be made aware of the ethical responsibilities that come with their jobs so that they can act with greater awareness and sensitivity in the classroom, which will improve the overall quality of their interactions with students. Teachers are able to enhance their students' learning, evaluate them in a variety of ways, and give them the opportunity to learn specific material when they organize a variety of activities in the classroom. In order to make the educational process more efficient, educators should conduct themselves with ethical awareness. As a consequence of this, members of the academic community, members of the general public, and teachers can acknowledge the significance of the ethical component of teaching.  This article aims to discuss the main reasons that make the teaching profession the subject of ethics, considering the opinions compiled from the literature and increasing the sensitivity of educators on this issue. The object of research: Emphasis on ethics is a word we hear in every cornerstone of life, and it is a word that is taken together with manners and decency. Therefore, it is high time to review ethics in teaching to interested readers. The object of this study is to revise the related literature on the concept of ethics and compile significant features in one study. Problem description: Since ethics is a paramount issue in education, issues such as the ethical dimensions of teaching and what is useful in the teaching profession for teachers or candidates who think of the profession as a sacred duty, teacher-student interaction, the foundations on which educational plans are based, and the ethical aspects of teacher attitudes needs to be investigated. Suggested solution to the problem: According to the findings of the research, the ethical dimension can be influenced by a number of factors, some of which include the interactions between teachers and students, educational initiatives, the attitudes of teachers, classroom restrictions, and the majority of instructional decisions. As a result, in order to make the process of education more effective, educators should model ethical behavior in their own live

The Hizmet movement schools, which set out to achieve universal peace, attempted to increase methods of communication between nations and cultures by teaching more languages to students, in light of the proverb "One language is one person, two languages are two people." They also taught Turkish as a second language in schools. The Hizmet Movement schools, which teach Turkish in more than 170 countries, have teachers spend time with students outside of class. By incorporating Turkish into every day, they increased its use. They exposed Turkish to their parents and others through projects and studies. In their countries, they have made sure Turkish lessons are taught by Turks. This paper explains the function of Hizmet Movement Schools in teaching Turkish to foreigners and shows how they go to world peace using Turkish steps. This research is a descriptive qualitative study in which data is acquired by approaches such as investigation, observation, interviewing, and source scanning. Studies on Teaching Turkish to Foreigners and Service (Hizmet) Movement schools were utilized throughout the collection of data, as well as expert opinions were contacted, and observation-based assessments were carried out

Mobile phone use has increased exponentially on a global scale in all segments of society since the rise of the first mobile phones in 1970s. Although a wealth of research has been conducted to measure the effects of mobile phones on individuals, a few studies have been carried out to make a connection between similes and mobile phone use.  In this respect, this study examined habits of students on mobile phone use through similes at a private university located in Erbil, Iraq. Students employed food, drink, household items and people to illustrate their mobile phone dependence rate. A questionnaire, a survey and an interview were adopted to gather data. The data which were collected by employing a mixed method design were analyzed through MAXODA software program and SPSS 25. The findings of the study uncover that mobile phone are indispensable in their lives with varying reasons to take advantage of them. Additionally, students have unsubtle plans to reduce their daily usage by channeling their energy to social activities. The findings of this study can have some implications to acknowledge negative points of mobile phone use and adopt realistic strategies to break mobile phone addiction on adults systematically

How do young generations perceive gender differences?: A case study

    Get PDF
There is a difference between sex and gender. Just as sex expresses biological differences, gender also refers to the difference created in mutual relations in social life. Different factors feed the perception of gender socially. Therefore, some stereotypes have developed between both sexes against each other. How these stereotypes emerged in the z-generation living in the internet age has been shown in this study through the sample taken. For this, the students were asked how they approached some stereotypes about their gender and the opposite gender, and the results were compared. In the questionnaire, there are multiple-choice questions and Likert scale-type questions. The differences between the students' answers were revealed statistically, and it was also examined in the SPSS program whether there were significant differences. According to the results obtained, it was concluded that although these students made significant progress on gender stereotypes, they still carry stereotypes on some issues

The aim of this research was to investigate the impact of the intangible qualities of the universities on student satisfaction. To do this, we have collected data from 7 different major public and private universities of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. We have used 170 data to proposed further analysis. The partial least square method (PLS) was used to test the hypothesis. The results reveal that career opportunities and a friendly atmosphere are the main two elements that foster the reputation of the universities. The second interesting result of this research is that social activities impact the reputation of universities but not the friendly atmosphere while social activities impact a friendly atmosphere but not the reputation significantly. Finally, we have suggested the implications to the practitioners in the region

Teaching English in a proficiency level and as a formal language to EFL learners is a big challenge in a non-English speaking country. This challenge might go on to some extent because of the curriculum in which students only learn basic rules and general English language skills in an intensive period of time. Preparatory schools of English language based universities usually have this kind of unique condensed program to improve language learners’ acquisition. However, students need more than the curriculum in order to study in their departmental studies at ease. This article demonstrates an explanation why preparatory school graduates are still weak in speaking and writing skills although they complete one year intensive language course. In this context, comparing one class of 20 civil engineering department students’ English knowledge, who have completed one year language education and started to take their most subjects in English, and 47 mixed A1 and B1 (due to CEFR) level groups of English language prep school learners’repliesto the research questions about feelings and expectations on learning English may provide healthy data to learn about learners’ needs and to improve the Preparatory School education system. In this study, civil engineering department students study departmental subjects in English, academic English and technical English, but the students of the preparatory school only learn general English

CHEMOTAXIS DIFFERENTIAL EVOLUTION OPTIMIZATION TECHNIQUES FOR GLOBAL OPTIMIZATION

    Get PDF
Nature inspired and bio-inspired algorithms have been recently used for solving low and high dimensional search and optimization problems. In this context, Bacterial Foraging Optimization Algorithm (BFOA) and Differential Evolution (DE) have been widely employed as global optimization techniques inspired from social foraging behavior of Escheria coli bacteria and evolutionary ideas such as mutation, crossover, and selection, respectively. BFOA employs chemotaxis (tumble and run steps of a bacterium in its lifetime) activity for local search whereas the global search is performed by elimination-dispersal operator. Elimination-dispersal operator kills or disperses some bacteria and replaces others randomly in the search space. This operator mimics bacterium’s death or dispersal in case of high temperature or sudden water flow in the environment. DE employs the mutation and crossover operators to make a local and a global search that explore the search space. Exploration and exploitation balance of DE is performed by two different parameters: mutation scaling factor and crossover rate. These two parameters along with the number of population have an enormous impact on optimization performance. In this thesis, two novel hybrid techniques called Chemotaxis Differential Evolution Optimization Algorithm (CDEOA) for low dimensions and micro CDEOA (μCDEOA) for high dimensional problems are proposed. In these techniques, we incorporate the principles of DE into BFOA with two conditions. What makes our techniques different from its counterparts is that it is based on two optimization strategies: exploration of a bacterium in case of its failure to explore its vicinity for food source and exploitation of a bacterium in case of its achievement to exploit more food source. By means of these evolutionary ideas, we manage to establish an efficient balance between exploration of new areas in the search space and exploitation of search space gradients. Statistics of the computer simulations indicate that μCDEOA outperforms, or is comparable to, its competitors in terms of its convergence rates and quality of final solution for complex high dimensional problems
