Losing a husband due to death causes feelings of griefs and raises some problems. It changes the status of women became a single parent. The aims of this study were to understand what caused single parents to own hardiness and how the hardiness was able to help them rising up from the critical period after their husbands died. This study used a qualitative method with a case study research. Informants were three single parents and three significant others. This study used an in-depth semi-structured interview for data collection. The results showed that the three informants were able to rise above the critical period after their husbands died and survived as single parents. This happened because all the informants had hardiness. The effort and time required for the informants to rise were different. Three factors that gave contribution to increasing hardiness were mastery experiences, feelings of positivity, and parental explanatory styles

Hubungan antara Umur, Taraf Kecerdasan dengan Aspek Konsistensi dalam EPPS

Penelitian ini diawali dengan keinginan untuk mendapatkan bukti empiris guna memperluas makna keberadaan aspek konsistensi dalam EPPS, dengan cara mencari hubungan antara umur, taraf intelektual dengan aspek konsistensi dalam EPPS. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan data hasil tes seleksi di Biro Testing Fakultas Psikologi UGM. Pengambilan subjek penelitian dilakukan dengan purposive random sampling,dan diperoleh sejumlah 374 subJek. Mereka terdiri dari laki-laki dan perempuan, umur mereka berkisar antara 18 tahun sampai dengan 49 tahun, dan yang terbanyak antara umur 24 tahun sampai dengan 28 tahun. Pendidikan subjek terdiri dari lulusan SMTA, Sarjana Muda. Diploma Tiga (D3), Sarjana S1 dan S2. Subjek dalam perfelitian ini adalah mereka yang mendapat tes pemahaman (A1), penalaran (A3),berhitung (A5) dan EPPS. Hasil yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada korelasi yang signifikan antara umur, taraf intelektual dengan aspek konsistensi dalam EPPS. Hubungan masing-masing ubahan bebas (umur, kemam[puan pemahaman, kemampuan penalaran, kemampuan berhitung dengan ubahan tergantung (aspek konsistensi dalam EPPS) juga tidak ada yang signifikan. Sumbangan efektifnyapun sangat kecil. Namun begitu, dari emapt ubahan bebas tersebut, kemampuan pemahaman mempunyai korelasi dan sumbangan efektif tertinggi atas aspek konsistensi, sedang kemampuan penalaran mempunyai korelasi dan sumbangan efektif terkecil
