Hard drilling of AISI D2 reportedly produce accelerated wear to the cutting tool that detrimental to the surface finish. This paper presents the effect of drilling tool and drilling parameters by using Taguchi method to produce minimum surface roughness under dry conditions. The experiments were conducted using high speed steel (HSS) based drilling tools, coated with various coating layer (uncoated, TiN and TiCN) on material AISI D2 tool steel. Two cutting parameters, spindle speed and feed rate, each at three levels were considered. An L9 array, the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to analyze the significant and percentage of each parameters for minimum surface roughness. The results revealed that the drilling tools gave main affects the surface roughness based on the highest percentage distribution (95%), followed by the spindle speed (3%) and feed rate (0.4%). Further, the results of ANOVA indicated that the combination of optimum parameter recorded as drilling tools HSS-TiCN with spindle speed of 680 rpm and feed rate of 206.25 mm/min

Initial Design of Semi Auto Soap Making Device from Used Cooking Oil for Home Appliances

This paper presents the comprehensive soap making device that can make soap from used cooking oil. The cooking oil can be converted to soap by using the mixture of used cooking oil, sodium hydroxide (NaOH) pellets, water and scented oil. The experiment was conducted to prove it. By having this right device, it will help users to carry out this converting used cooking oil to become a soap process more easily. They do not need to do this process manually. It can be used at a kitchen in every house. This device designed to raise the awareness the importance of recycling the cooking oil. Surveys has conducted with 50 public respondent, especially house wife. From the survey, it can be concluded that there are many people who dispose the used cooking oil to the place where should not be. The main objective of this paper is to discuss how to design a device to make soap from used cooking oil, to develop a functional prototype of soap making device from used cooking oil for home appliances and also to reduce pollution and increase environmental awareness towards Malaysians

The present paper is the study of the conditions of Romanian Germans who were enslaved by Russia for five years after the WW II to rebuild all destroyed territories in war by Germany. Romania allied Germany in WW II therefore Russia took revenge of the loss made by them. The study critically analyses the life of captured Germans in the camps of Soviet Union. The age group of the prisoners was 17-45 years for men and 18-30 years for women. Almost seventy thousand people were deported out of which thirty thousand had lost their life because of hunger, labor, punishments and ill health. The paper has focused on the geographical condition where Germans were deported. Moreover, it describes the nature of works tasked to the laborers according to their health. The research has also highlighted the portrayal of the barter system of the hungry workers. How Russians were treated, what type of food was provided to them, how they lived there for five years in such worst condition? Furthermore, the study discusses the effects of labor camps that also haunted the people even after their release. How the life in the camps had badly affected the manners and living style and way of thinking of the people are the naked truth and is the integral part of this manuscript

Translating the idea of the egovernment one-stop-shop in Indonesia

This study aims to understand how the idea of an eGovernment one- stop-shop (OSS) has been translated into a new setting. Since the beginning of 2000, this idea has been implemented in a variety of ways by Indonesian local governments. Using an interpretive case study in the city of Yogyakarta, the study revealed that the specificity of each setting influences the translation process of the idea of OSS during its institutionalization. It also identified a set of editing rules used during the translation process. These include the editing rules concerning context (e.g., internal readiness); logic (e.g., corruption eradi- cation); and formulation (e.g., standardized processes). The study also found that the idea translation was not a single round process

Review of numerical studies on nox emission in the flameless combustion

    No full text
The incomplete process of combustion produces unwanted emission and one of the major pollutant in the combustion of fossil fuels is the formation of nitrogen oxides. To mitigate the problem various combustion technologies have been explored and flameless combustion is one of the potential candidate. Flameless combustion is of a great interest since it simultaneously provides higher thermal efficiency together with controlling the pollutant emission such as NOX. In this technology, the preheat temperature of the combustion air must be higher than the auto-ignition temperature of the reactant mixture. This paper explores various numerical studies performed on the flameless combustion and the role of flameless combustion on the reduction of NOX emission are presented
