Structure of achievement motivation dispositions in elite and non-elite track and field athletes
Achievement motivation is a distinguishing disposition in elite and non-elite athletes. Implicit theories and competence perception influence the types of achievement goals and constitute separate achievement motivation dispositions. The context of sport promotes various achievement goals and implicit theories about athletic competence. For this reason, scientific research should focus on the intrapersonal profiles of achievement motivation dispositions (achievement goals,
implicit theories, and competence perception) instead of specifying only one of them. This study explores differences between elite and non-elite athletes in terms of intrapersonal profiles of achievement motivation dispositions. 54 elite and 50 non-elite track and field athletes took part in the study. The results suggest that athletes tend to perceive their competence accurately. Cluster analysis of the studied dispositions was conducted. The clusters present sets of achievement dispositions that vary in intensity. Moreover, the results present trends of the differences between
elite and non-elite athletes in two of the three clusters obtained in the study

Stem photosynthesis : a key element of grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) acclimatisation to salinity
Grass pea (Lathyrus sativus) is a leguminous plant of outstanding tolerance to abiotic stress. The aim of the presented study was to describe the mechanism of grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) photosynthetic apparatus acclimatisation strategies to salinity stress. The seedlings were cultivated in a hydroponic system in media containing various concentrations of NaCl (0, 50, and 100 mM), imitating none, moderate, and severe salinity, respectively, for three weeks. In order to characterise the function and structure of the photosynthetic apparatus, Chl a fluorescence, gas exchange measurements, proteome analysis, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis were done inter alia. Significant differences in the response of the leaf and stem photosynthetic apparatus to severe salt stress were observed. Leaves became the place of harmful ion (Na+) accumulation, and the efficiency of their carboxylation decreased sharply. In turn, in stems, the reconstruction of the photosynthetic apparatus (antenna and photosystem complexes) activated alternative electron transport pathways, leading to effective ATP synthesis, which is required for the efficient translocation of Na+ to leaves. These changes enabled efficient stem carboxylation and made them the main source of assimilates. The observed changes indicate the high plasticity of grass pea photosynthetic apparatus, providing an effective mechanism of tolerance to salinity stress
Person – job fit in students’ perspective and its consequences for career aspirations
PURPOSE: The purpose of this article is to examine the relationship between students’
dedication (S_DED) and their perception of person-job fit (P_J Fit) and investigate how it
correlates with students’ career aspirations (CAREER_ASP). Additionally, the relationship
between perceived P_J Fit and students’ work experience (WORK_EXP) and social support
(S_SUPPORT) have been analyzed.DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: This study was conducted among tourism and/or hospitality
students of two universities that agreed to participate in the study. They are located in cities
of Poland and Croatia which are very attractive tourist destinations. The questionnaires
were administered in each institution and the auditorium survey technique was applied to
gather the data.FINDINGS: The findings of this study revealed that there is a positive and significant
correlation between students’ dedication and their perception of person-job fit. It was also
indicated that there is a positive and significant correlation between students’ work
experience, students’ social support and perceived P_J Fit. Finally, it was proved that the
more students perceive their skills and abilities as matching the requirements of their future
work, the more they believe they can pursue a career in this field.PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: It is recommended that the educators pay more attention to the
person-job fit of students when recruiting them for T&H courses at higher education
institutions. Moreover, it is important to offer a variety of activities to increase students’
dedication to the studies undertaken. Specifically, for curriculums to be suitable and to
generate enthusiasm among students, they should be customized to meet the requirements of
the labor market and modern teaching techniques should be applied to actively engage
students in the learning process, making it challenging.ORIGINALITY/VALUE: To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is one of the first to focus
on identifying factors relating to students’ perception of their P_J Fit by linking it with their
career aspirations in a single research model.peer-reviewe
Human Resource Management in Chain Hotels on the Example of Radisson Blu Hotel in Szczecin
Chain hotels differ from independent hotels in very many features. One of them is human resource management, what stems from the fact that personnel policy of a chain hotel is thoroughly devised. All aspects related to it have to be precisely described and rather universal since they concern employees working all around the world, that is personnel representing various nations, cultures, outlook on life, etc. The article consists of three substantive parts, an introduction and a conclusion. The first part of the article, which is theoretical, concerns human resource management and its significance in the hotel industry. The next two parts are analytical and empirical (in the form of case study) and they describe basic organizational areas of functioning of the Radisson Blu hotel in Szczecin and particular human resource management tools in the analysed hotel
Instruments for managing the EU labour market in the face of the COVID-19 crisis
Purpose: The article presents in a multifaceted manner the instruments used in the EU member states to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the labour market. Design/Methodology/Approach: Theoretical issues were examined on the basis of the analysis of available source literature on labour market economics and risk management. The research methods used in this paper include, critical analysis of the source literature, the method of comparative analysis and secondary data analysis. Findings: The article identifies actions taken by the EU member states to support the labour market and to develop a model of instruments intended for EU authorities and member states to reduce the risk of labour market disturbances during the COVID-19 pandemic. Practical Implications: The analysis and evaluation carried out in the article indicated that risk management on the EU labour market during the pandemic requires integrated protective measures. The results obtained may be used to formulate a long-term strategy for the EU labour market and programmes to counter the effects of the crisis. Originality/value: The issues as presented in the article concerning the instruments used to manage the EU labour market in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic have not been studied in Polish and foreign literature.peer-reviewe
Oferta hotelarska schronisk młodzieżowych w Polsce jako element produktu turystyki szkolnej. Ujęcie teoretyczno-empiryczne
This article focuses on the importance of tourism in the development of children and youth. It presents the role and functions of school tourism. In addition, an analysis of the accommodation offer dedicated to this form of tourism (ie. youth hostels). The article describes the legal requirements in this type of objects relating to the equipment and in service delivery. Furthermore they presented a quantitative structure of youth hostels in Poland in 2016.
The content of the study results from using primarily, in the theoretical part, desk research in the form of an analysis of literature on the subject and, in the empirical part, an analysis of secondary materials provided by the institutions dealing with the analysis of tourist accommodation in Poland
Enrichment of maternal diet with conjugated linoleic acids influences desaturases activity and fatty acids profile in livers and hepatic microsomes of the offspring with 7,12-dimethylbenz[a] antracene- induces mammary tumors
The aim of this study was to assess the influence of diet supplementation of pregnant and breastfeeding
female Sprague-Dawley rats with conjugated linoleic acids (CLA) on the Δ6- and Δ5-desaturase activity
in hepatic microsomes as well as on fatty acids profile and lipids peroxidation in liver and hepatic microsomes
of the progeny with chemically induced mammary tumors. Rats were divided into two groups with different
diet supplementation (vegetable oil (which did not contain CLA) or CLA). Their female offspring was
divided within these groups into two subgroups: (1) ñ fed the same diet as mothers (K1 ñ oil, O1 ñ CLA), and
(2) ñ fed the standard fodder (K2, O2). At 50th day of life, the progeny obtained carcinogenic agent (7,12-
dimethylbenz[a]anthracene). Higher supply of CLA in diet of mothers resulted in lower susceptibility to chemically
induced mammary tumors in their offspring (p = 0.0322). It also influenced the fatty acids profile in livers
and in hepatic microsomes, especially polyunsaturated n3 and n6 fatty acids. CLA inhibited the activity of
the desaturases, which confirmed that CLA can reduce the level of arachidonic acid directly, reducing linoleic
acid content in membranes, or indirectly, through the regulation of its metabolism. We were unable to confirm
or deny the antioxidative properties of CLA. Our results indicate that the higher supply of CLA in mothersĂ diet
during pregnancy and breastfeeding causes their incorporation into tissues of children, changes the efficiency
of fatty acids metabolism and exerts health-promoting effect in their adult life reducing the breast cancer risk
