Muonic hydrogen ground state hyperfine splitting

Corrections of orders alpha^5, alpha^6 are calculated in the hyperfine splitting of the muonic hydrogen ground state. The nuclear structure effects are taken into account in the one- and two-loop Feynman amplitudes by means of the proton electromagnetic form factors. The modification of the hyperfine splitting part of the Breit potential due to the electron vacuum polarization is considered. Total numerical value of the 1S state hyperfine splitting 182.638 meV in the (mu p) can play the role of proper estimation for the corresponding experiment with the accuracy 30 ppm.Comment: 18 pages, Talk presented at the 11th Lomonosov Conference on Elementary Particle Physics, Moscow State University, August 200

Nuclear structure corrections in the energy spectra of electronic and muonic deuterium

The one-loop nuclear structure corrections of order (Z alpha)^5 to the Lamb shift and hyperfine splitting of the deuterium are calculated. The contribution of the deuteron structure effects to the isotope shift (ep)-(ed), (mu p)-(mu d) in the interval (1S - 2S) is obtained on the basis of modern experimental data on the deuteron electromagnetic form factors. The comparison with the similar contributions to the Lamb shift for electronic and muonic hydrogen shows, that the relative contribution due to the nucleus structure increases when passing from the hydrogen to the deuterium.Comment: Talk presented at the Conference "Physics of Fundamental Interactions" of the Nuclear Physics Section of the Physics Department of RAS, ITEP, Moscow, 2-6 December, 2002; 8 pages, REVTE

We calculate the corrections of orders alpha^3, alpha^4 and alpha^5 to the Lamb shift of the 1S and 2S energy levels of muonic hydrogen (mu p) and muonic deuterium (mu d). The nuclear structure effects are taken into account in terms of the proton r_p and deuteron r_d charge radii for the one-photon interaction and by means of the proton and deuteron electromagnetic form factors in the case of one-loop amplitudes. The obtained numerical value of the isotope shift (mu d) - (mu p) for the splitting (1S-2S) 101003.3495 meV can be considered as a reliable estimation for corresponding experiment with the accuracy 10^{-6}. The fine structure interval E(1S)-8E(2S) in muonic hydrogen and muonic deuterium are calculated.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figure

Corrections of orders alpha^5 and alpha^6 are calculated in the hyperfine splittings of 1S and 2S - energy levels in the ion of muonic helium. The electron vacuum polarization effects, the nuclear structure corrections and recoil corrections are taken into account. The obtained numerical values of the hyperfine splittings -1334.56 meV (1S state), -166.62 meV (2S state) can be considered as a reliable estimate for the comparison with the future experimental data. The hyperfine splitting interval Delta_{12}=(8 Delta E^{hfs}(2S)- Delta E^{hfs}(1S)) = 1.64 meV can be used for the check of quantum electrodynamics.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figure

A "former nobleman": survival in soviet realities

    Get PDF
The issues addressed in the article are of particular relevance for the contemporary historiography due to the absence of systematic studies on the history of the "Soviet nobility" and their adaptation to the Soviet realities. An especially interesting aspect of this topic is the transformation of values and worldview of the nobility in the conditions of the dominant communist ideology. The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the nobility survival in the period of establishment of a totalitarian political regime and destruction of the traditional Russian system of values and religious traditions. The primary research method used to address the topic is the micro-historical analysis, which allowed the authors to obtain the following results: a typology of this social group was developed (involuntary or deported emigrants, open or hidden oppositionists, and those who were forced to adapt), based on characterization of beliefs, values and patterns of behaviour of individual representatives of the "former" nobility; oppressive measures used by the Soviet power against the "exploiters" were classified into several types: economic oppression, legal restrictions, ideological pressure and direct terror; and specific features of their adaptation to the Soviet realities, including its ethno-confessional aspect, were identified. The main conclusion drawn from the research is that the nobiliary culture and system of values proved extremely resistant to various challenges and threats of the Soviet epoch. Materials of this article have both theoretical and practical implications in the context of actualisation of the culture of mansions, nobiliary traditions and the cadet education in today´s Russia. Keywords: "Soviet nobility", system of values, emigration, opposition, terror, adaptatio

Genetic structure analysis of leaf rust resistant triticale accessions from the VIR collection using gliadin patterns

    Get PDF
The gliadin banding patterns of important accessions from the collection of the N. I. Vavilov All‑Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR) registered in the form of “protein formulas” provide reliable information for the preparation of a “protein passport” for each accession and is convenient for storage and computer processing. It helps to control originality and integrity of accessions during regeneration and their use in breeding. The study involved 17 triticale accessions resistant to leaf rust. The analysis was carried out on single grains of the original accession (a sample of 13–26 kernels) according to the standard protocol adopted by VIR and approved by the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA). The gliadin electrophoretic banding patterns of triticale accessions were registered in the form of “protein formulas”; polymorphism of each accession and genetic diversity within the collection were estimated, and genetic structure of accessions was identified based on the marker protein components. A large variety of the revealed genotypes opens a possibility to identify accessions that combine resistance with other useful traits. Stable and polymorphic accessions including from 2 to 7 biotypes were found. The discovery of interbiotype hybrids and recombinant genotypes in the composition of some polymorphic accessions indicates the instability of their genetic structure and the ongoing formation process. This is due to the heterogeneity of the original parental forms, the tendency to cross‑pollination and insufficiently thorough selection. The data on the triticale genotypic structure can be used in introgressive breeding to control the transfer of rye genetic material to wheat varieties in order to increase their immunity and resistance to adverse factors

Socio-Ecological Inequality in the Context of the Problem of Waste Disposal

The problem of waste disposal is one of the most acute for modern cities. The increasing population density, the widespread use of plastics and similar materials, as well as the formation of consumer culture have led to the fact that garbage is becoming one of the sources of environmental pollution and the spread of diseases. In the article, based on the methods of secondary data analysis and comparative analysis, the features of socio-ecological inequality in the context of waste disposal are considered. The problems of environmental pollution are analyzed as one of the sources of social conflicts, including in modern Russian society. In addition, the authors pay attention to changes in the garbage legislation, coming into force in 2019, and the social consequences of these innovations. The article analyzes the possibilities and limitations of sorting garbage by citizens, discusses ways to solve the problem.

The corrections of order (Z alpha)^6m_1/m_2 and (Z alpha)^7 from one-loop two-photon exchange diagrams to the energy spectra of the hydrogenic atoms are calculated with the help of the Taylor expansion of corresponding integrands. The method of averaging the quasipotential over the wave functions in the d-dimensional coordinate space is formulated. The numerical values of the obtained contributions to the fine structure of muonium, hydrogen and positronium are presented.Comment: Talk given at the XVIth International Workshop High-Energy Physics and Quantum Field Theory (QFTHEP2001), Moscow, Russia, 6-12 Sep 2001, 12 pages, REVTE
