Frequency and time profiles of metric wave isolated Type I solar noise storm bursts at high spectral and temporal resolution
Type I noise storms constitute a sizeable faction of the active-Sun radio
emission component. Observations of isolated instances of such bursts, in the
swept-frequency-mode at metric wavelengths, have remained sparse, with several
unfilled regions in the frequency coverage. Dynamic spectra of the burst
radiation, in the 30 - 130 MHz band, obtained from the recently commissioned
digital High Resolution Spectrograph (HRS) at the Gauribidanur Radio
Observatory, on account of the superior frequency and time resolution, have
unravelled in explicit detail the temporal and spectral profiles of isolated
bursts. Apart from presenting details on their fundamental emission features,
the time and frequency profile symmetry, with reference to custom-specific
Gaussian distributions, has been chosen as the nodal criterion to statistically
explain the state of the source regions in the vicinity of magnetic
reconnections, the latent excitation agent that contributes to plasma wave
energetics, and the quenching phenomenon that causes damping of the burst

Parameter scaling in the decoherent quantum-classical transition for chaotic systems
The quantum to classical transition has been shown to depend on a number of
parameters. Key among these are a scale length for the action, , a
measure of the coupling between a system and its environment, , and, for
chaotic systems, the classical Lyapunov exponent, . We propose
computing a measure, reflecting the proximity of quantum and classical
evolutions, as a multivariate function of and searching for
transformations that collapse this hyper-surface into a function of a composite
parameter . We report results
for the quantum Cat Map, showing extremely accurate scaling behavior over a
wide range of parameters and suggest that, in general, the technique may be
effective in constructing universality classes in this transition.Comment: Submitte

Oxidation and chemical state analysis of polycrystalline magnetron sputtered (Ti,Al)N films at ambient and liquid N-2 temperatures
In order to improve the functional properties of hard coatings, recent investigations have been directed towards Ti-N based multicomponent materials. The nitride (Ti, Al)N, in particular, with a Ti:Al ratio of 1:1 seems to be a promising alternative to the widely used TiN, exhibits better oxidation resistance and hence improved performance over that of TiN. (Ti, Al)N coatings were de sputter deposited onto 316SS substrates under ambient and liquid nitrogen temperatures. As deposited films were oxidized in a vertical fused-silica tube furnace in pure O-2 flowing atmosphere at temperatures ranging from 700 to 900 degrees C. Scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope images reveal information about the particle size and film thickness. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was employed to study the chemistry of the cop few atomic layers in addition to compositional analysis and information on the details of chemical bonding, The difference in film stoichiometry are compared at two different deposition conditions thus reflecting their behavior under oxidizing conditions
The Fabrication Of Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Transistors Using Cerium Dioxide As A Gate Oxide Material
Cerium dioxide was employed as a gate insulator for an enhancement-type n-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) transistor. Cerium was evaporated in a tungsten boat and immediately oxidized for oxide uniformity. The use of CeO2 as a gate oxide in MOS transistor yielded a low positive threshold voltage with negligible interface charge effects. This resulted in the transistor performing as an enhancement type device
