    The Liquid smoke is the dipersion of the Smoke in the air as the result of distillation or biomass pyrolysis of Cocos nucifera. This research was to know the effectiveness of Liquid smoke of Cocos nucifera to the growth of E. coli. The research was done in Microbiology Laboratory of the Medical Faculty of Jember University. This research is laboratorist experimental with used CRD (Completely Randomized design) with 3 times repetition. The data analysis used SPSS version 11 with Anova and Duncan. This research use some concentration, there are is 12,5%, 25%, 50%, and 100%, positiv control (klorin), and negatif control (aquades). The result of experiment by using Anova, it was kwon that Liquid smoke of in the concentration 12,5%, 25%, 50%, and 100%, to E. Colihave significance value is 0,00 (P<0,05), so every treatment has different result significantly. Whereas, the Duncan analysis showed 100% significantly different with another concentration, including positive and negative control. The 50% concentration has significant different with the 12,5% concentration, and the 25% concentration also has different result with K+ and K-. Whereas K+, K-, and 12,5% has didn’t different.That result proved that Liquid smoke can resist the growth of E. Coli.Key Word :Escherichia coli, Liquid Smoke

    THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ORGANIC FERTILIZER AND MICORIZA ARBUSCULA ON GROWTH AND PRODUCTIVITY GREEN EGGPLANT (SOLANUM MELONGENA L.)

    Green eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is a food plant grown for its fruit. The fruit of the eggplant depends on the fruit stalk and is a single true fruit, thick, soft, and juicy. This study was a completely randomized design with a three-treatment pattern. The first is a combination of organic fertilizer and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, the second is a positive control, namely using NPK fertilizer, the third is a negative control, namely without treatment. Each treatment was repeated three times and each repetition consisted of 3 plants. Plant growth parameters consist of plant height and number of leaves. Plant productivity parameters consist of the number of fruit, fruit wet weight, and dry weight. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained data that the combination of organic fertilizer and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi had better growth and productivity results compared to other treatments with an average plant height of 44.46; the average number of leaves 11.12; the average number of fruits was 5.51; mean fruit wet weight 106; and the average dry weight of fruit 84. The results of the Anova statistical test showed that the significance value of plant height and a number leaves was 0.000 (α <0.05), and the significance value for the number of fruits was 0.006 (α <0.05), while the significance value of weight wet and dry weight of fruit is 0.000 (α <0.05), this indicates that the combination of organic fertilizer and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal has a significant effect on the growth and productivity of green eggplant plants.   &nbsp

    PENINGKATAN AKTIVITAS DAN HASIL BELAJAR SISWA MELALUI MODEL PEMBELAJARAN INQUIRY DENGAN MEDIA GAMBAR

    Inquiry learning is learning or review for problem solving in a critical, analytical, and scientific used particular steps. Media is physical tool that can stimulate students to learn. Learning activities are the students’ activities in the learning process through from physical activities to psychological activities. This research aimed to increase the students’ learning activities using Inquiry learning model and image media. The research design used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), with qualitative descriptive approach. Based on the result of research, indicated that there were 43,2% of student learning activity on the first cycle and 86% on the second cycle. While in the learning outcomes of students on the first cycle showed 70% and 88% on the second cycle. As the basis of the research findings, the activity and student learning outcomes can be increased through the Inquiry model with the image media.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari pemberian Cendawan mikoriza arbuskula (CMA) terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman kedelai edamame (Glycin max (L) Merrill). Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dengan 3 ulangan, setiap pengulangan terdiri atas 5 tanaman. Aplikasi cendawan mikoriza arbuskula (M) terdiri atas dua perlakuan, yaitu tanpa aplikasi CMA (M0) dan dengan aplikasi CMA (M1). Data hasil penelitian dianalisis deskriptif. Data pertumbuhan terdiri atas tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, dan jumlah cabang produktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian dari CMA (Cendawan mikoriza arbuskula) menunjukkan hasil pertumbuhan yang paling baik dibandingkan dengan tanpa pemberian CMA (Cendawan mikoriza arbuskula)

    This study aimed at determining the effectiveness of biofertilizer with different concentrations on plant growth of soybean “edamame” (glycin max). Biofertilizer in this study consists of microbial consortia (lactobacillus, pseudomonas, bacillus, saccharomyces, rhizobium, azotobacter, azospirillum, and cellulomonas). The treatment consists of 3 biofertilizer concentrations (25%, 50%, dan 75%), as well as the negative control and positive control (100% chemical fertilizer equivalent 5g/plant). The result showed that treatment b3 (biofertilizer 75%) gave better results on plant growth compared with other treatments

    This atlas was compiled based on  the result of research on plant identification in the Sukorambi Botanical Garden, Jember Regency. The research results obtained can be developed into a form that is ready to be implemented and utilized by the community. Sukorambi Botanical Garden is a nature tourism park with the concept of recreation while learning. In the Sukorambi Botanical Garden, there are various types of plants and are scattered throughout the area. The Sukorambi Botanical Garden has great potential if it can be used as an educational tour, however, to make it an educational tour, the botanical tourist park is still not equipped with media for education, namely what types of plants are there, so there is a need for a plant identification atlas to make it easier for visitors, especially students, to go on educational tours. Based on the results of this development activity, it was concluded that the plant identification atlas could be used as an educational tourism medium at the Botanical Park, Sukorambi sub-district, Jember district

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari pemberian dari kombinasi Cendawan mikoriza arbuskula (CMA) dan pupuk kimia terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman kedelai edamame (Glycin max (L) Merrill). Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dengan 3x pengulangan, setiap pengulangan terdiri atas 5 tanaman. Penelitian ini memiliki 4 perlakuan, yaitu: M1K1(5 ton/ha), M1K2(10 ton/ha), M1K3 (15 ton/ha), M1K4 (20 ton/ha). Data hasil penelitian dianalisis deskriptif. Data pertumbuhan terdiri atas tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, dan jumlah cabang produktif. (10 ton/ha). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kombinasi dari CMA (Cendawan mikoriza arbuskula) dan pupuk kimia menunjukkan hasil pertumbuhan yang paling baik dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya. Hasil pertumbuhan yang paling baik terdapat pada pemberian M1K4 (kombinasi CMA dan pupuk kimia 2 gr per tanman)

    EFEKTIVITAS PERASAN DAUN AGERATUM CONYZOIDES L. TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN JAMUR TRICHOPHYTON RUBRUM

    Plants have a variety of function one of them as a medicine. Ageratum conyzoides L. plant efficacious as antimicrobial. This study aims to determine the effectiveness the leaf juice of Ageratum conyzoides L. on the growth of Trichophyton rubrum fungus. This research was conducted invitro using dilution method and hole method, and using Randomized Complete Design with three repetitions. The results will be analyzed using Anova Test, followed by Duncan test. Based on the results of analysis it is known that the leaf juice of Ageratum conyzoides L has the inhibitory power to the growth of Trichophyton rubrum. Minimum constraint concentration (KHM) of Ageratum conyzoides L leaf extract on Trichophyton rubrum growth was present at concentration of 40% with mean diameter of 1.61 cm resistance zone. So it can be concluded that the leaf juice of Ageratum conyzoides L is effective against Trichophyton rubrum growth, because it can inhibit its growth.Keywords: Ageratum conyzoides L., effectiveness, MIC, Trichophyton rubru

    Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa melalui Model Pembelajaran Inquiry dengan Menggunakan Metode Eksperimen pada Pokok Bahasan Pencemaran Lingkungan Kelas X (Putri) Tahun Pelajaran 2016/2017

    Penelitian merupakan kegiatan utama dari proses pendidikan. Peneliti melakukan penelitian di kelas X (putri) MA Bustanul Ulum Krai-Yosowilangun-Lumajang dengan responden yang diteliti sebanyak 19 siswa Putri. Peneliti melakukan observasi di kelas X (putri) MA Bustanul Ulum Krai-Yosowilangun dan diperoleh data sekitar 75 % menunjukkan nilai siswa ≤70. Prosedur yang digunakan adalah model siklus berdasarkan hasil penelitian, persentase hasil belajar pada siklus I mencapai 38,131 dan siklus II mencapai  hingga 44,605 sedangkan untuk melihat persentase hasil belajar siklus I mencapai 68,421% dan siklus II mencapai 94,736%

    EFEKTIVITAS EKSTRAK KELOPAK MAWAR MERAH (ROSA DAMASCENE) TERHADAP JAMUR CANDIDA ALBICANS

    Ekstrak kelopak mawar merah diperoleh dari hasil ekstraksi kelopak bunga mawar merah dari spesies Rosa damascene. Proses ekstraksi ini menggunakan pelarut universal yaitu aquades. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektivan ekstrak kelopak mawar merah terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Jember.Jenis Penelitian yang digunakan adalah Eksperimental Laboratoris dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 kali pengulangan. Analisis data menggunakan SPSS versi 11 dengan uji antara lain : uji Anova, dan uji Duncan. Penelitian ini mengunakan beberapa konsentrasi yaitu: 12,5%, 25%, 50%, 100%, serta kontrol positif (nistatin) dan kontrol negatif (aquades steril).Berdasarkan hasil uji ANOVA pengaruh ekstrak kelopak mawar merah terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans diperoleh nilai F hitung sebesar 60,59 dan nilai signifikasi sebesar 0,000, karena p<0,05 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak kelopak mawar merah berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan Candida albicans. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan, dengan hasil yaitu konsentrasi 100% berbeda signifikan dengan konsentrasi 12,5%, 25%, 50%, kontrol positif serta kontrol negatif. Sehingga berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak kelopak mawar merah dengan konsentrasi 100% dapat menghambat pertumbuhan jamur Candida albicans.Kata Kunci: Kelopak bunga mawar merah (Rosa damascene), Candida albicans
