    The development of a biometric keystroke authentication framework to enhance system security

    Computer systems have proven to be essential to achieving our daily tasks such as managing our banking accounts, managing our health information and managing critical information systems such as drinking water systems or nuclear power plant systems. Such distributed systems are networked and must be protected against cyber threats. This research presents the design and implementation of a stand alone web based biometric keystroke authentication framework that creates a user\u27s keystroke typing profile and use it as a second form of authentication. Several biometric models were then bench marked for their accuracy by computing their EER. By using keystroke biometrics as a second form of authentication the overall system\u27s security is enhanced without the need of extra peripheral devices and without interrupting a user\u27s work-flow

Programa de Pós-graduação em Ciência dos AlimentosO potencial de biopreservação de uma cepa nativa produtora de bacteriocinas foi avaliada em filetes talhados de híbrido das espécies de peixe pirapitinga (Piaractus braquypomus) x tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), procedentes da aqüicultura, utilizando análises microbiológicas, físico-químicas, sensoriais e de microscopia óptica. Foram feitos três tratamentos: adição de extrato cru de bacteriocinas produzidas por Lactobacillus plantarum LPBM10, ácido láctico pH 6,53 e água destilada (controle) a filetes embalados a vácuo. Estes filetes foram armazenados a 30C durante 30 dias. As provas microbiológicas não apresentaram diferença significativa na contagem total de mesófilos entre os tratamentos. A contagem total de psicrotrófilos alcançou valores de 5,2 ciclos log; 6,7 ciclos log e 6,4 ciclos log (P<0,05) para os filetes tratados com extrato cru de bacteriocinas, ácido láctico e controle respectivamente, no dia 30 de armazenamento. Para coliformes totais a contagem inicial de 2.6 ciclos log, foi mantida até o final do armazenamento. A contagem de coliformes fecais, ao finalizar o período de armazenamento, diminuiu 1,5: 2,1 e 1,3 ciclos log para os filetes tratados com extrato cru de bacteriocinas, ácido láctico e água destilada (controle) respectivamente. Análise físico-química de BVT-N apresentou o menor valor (19,3 mg BVT-N/100g) para o tratamento com extrato cru de bacteriocinas. O valor inicial do ácido tiobarbitúrico TBA foi de 0,93 mg malonaldehido/kg para todas as amostras, e teve o menor aumento para o tratamento com bacteriocinas (0,97 mg) no final do período. As observações microscópicas mostram a menor alteração na degradação do tecido conectivo e o menor incremento do espaço entre as fibras musculares dos filetes tratados com extrato cru de bacteriocinas. A análise sensorial demonstrou que o talhado foi efetivo na diminuição da percepção das espinhas intramusculares, obtendo as melhores pontuações nos filetes talhados e tratados com bacteriocinas. The biopreservation potential of a native bacteriocin producer strain was evaluated in gashed fillets of hybrid pirapitinga (Piaractus braquypomus) x tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) farmed fish, using microbiological, physico-chemical, sensory and optical microscopy analysis. Three treatments were used: addition of crude bacteriocin extract produced by Lactobacillus plantarum LPBM10, lactic acid pH 6.53 and distilled water (control), to the vacuum packed fillets. These were stored at 3°C for 30 days. Microbiological assays did not show significant differences among the viable mesophilyc counts for any of the treatments. Psicotrophic total counts reached values of 5.2 cycles log; 6.7 cycles log and 6.4 cycles log (P<0.05) for crude bacteriocin, lactic acid and control treatments respectively at the end of the period. For total coliforms the initial count of 2.6 cycles log was maintained until the end of storage. The count of fecal coliforms diminished 1.5, 2.1 and 1.3 cycles log by the end of the study for the fillets treated with crude bacteriocins, lactic acid, and distilled water (control) respectively. Physical-chemical analysis for total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) showed the lowest value (19.3 mg TVBN/100g) for bacteriocin treated fillets. The thiobarbituric acid TBA initial values of 0.93 mg malonaldehyde/kg for all samples, increased the least for the bacteriocin one (0.97 mg by the end of the period.) Microscopic observations showed the lowest alteration in the weakening of connective tissue and the smallest increment in the space among muscular fibers for the treatment with crude bacteriocin extract. Sensory analysis indicated that gashing the fish fillets was effective in decreasing the perception of intramuscular bones, yielding the best scores in gashed fillets treated with bacteriocin

    Storage and discharge of a granular fluid

    Experiments and computational simulations are carried out to study the behavior of a granular column in a silo whose walls are able to vibrate horizontally. The column is brought to a steady fluidized state and it behaves similar to a hydrostatic system. We study the dynamics of the granular discharge through openings at the bottom of the silo in order to search for a Torricelli-like behavior. We show that the flow rate scales with the wall induced shear rate, and at high rates, the granular bed indeed discharges similar to a viscous fluid

    Static response in disk packings

    We present experimental and numerical results for displacement response functions in packings of rigid frictional disks under gravity. The central disk on the bottom layer is shifted upwards by a small amount, and the motions of disks above it define the displacement response. Disk motions are measured with the help of a still digital camera. The responses so measured provide information on the force-force response, that is, the excess force at the bottom produced by a small overload in the bulk. We find that, in experiments, the vertical-force response shows a Gaussian-like shape, broadening roughly as the square root of distance, as predicted by diffusive theories for stress propagation in granulates. However, the diffusion coefficient obtained from a fit of the response width is ten times larger than predicted by such theories. Moreover we notice that our data is compatible with a crossover to linear broadening at large scales. In numerical simulations on similar systems (but without friction), on the other hand, a double-peaked response is found, indicating wave-like propagation of stresses. We discuss the main reasons for the different behaviors of experimental and model systems, and compare our findings with previous works.Fil: Moukarzel, Cristian Fernando.     Esta investigación busca precisar la relación entre gestión de investigación y la producción científica en los estudiantes de contabilidad de la Universidad Nacional de San Martín filial Rioja, 2021, debido a que actualmente existe bajo nivel de producción científica en los estudiantes, siendo la gestión de la investigación un factor relevante para ampliar la producción de la investigación, debido a que debe preservar la congruencia con el perfil de egreso que la universidad ofrece. El tipo de investigación es básica no experimental con diseño metodológico correlacional y muestreo probabilístico aleatorio simple, muestra de 120 estudiantes del I al X ciclo del año académico 2021-II. Utilizó dos cuestionarios validados debidamente por expertos, siendo: Cuestionario de la gestión de investigación con 20 ítems y Cuestionario de producción científica con 20 ítems. De igual manera, se determinó el coeficiente de confiabilidad a cada uno de ellos, obteniendo un coeficiente mayor a 0.85, que indica que son instrumentos altamente confiables. El procesamiento estadístico se realizó mediante el software estadístico SPSS versión 25 y Excel. Uso la estadística paramétrica con el coeficiente de correlación de Pearson, debido a que las variables tenian una distribución normal. Se concluyó que hay una correlación positiva muy baja (0.075) en el nivel 0.01 a 0.19, siendo r = 0.075 (Donde r: Estadístico de Pearson) y un coeficiente de determinación r2 = 0.0056; el cual puede interpretarse que solo el 0.56% de la producción científica es debido a la gestión de la investigación.Tesi
