Localization for the random displacement model

We prove spectral and dynamical localization for the multi-dimensional random displacement model near the bottom of its spectrum by showing that the approach through multiscale analysis is applicable. In particular, we show that a previously known Lifshitz tail bound can be extended to our setting and prove a new Wegner estimate. A key tool is given by a quantitative form of a property of a related single-site Neumann problem which can be described as "bubbles tend to the corners".Comment: Corrected typos and improved some argument

Absolutely continuous spectrum of Schrödinger operators with potentials slowly decaying inside a cone

AbstractFor a large class of multi-dimensional Schrödinger operators it is shown that the absolutely continuous spectrum is essentially supported by [0,∞). We require slow decay and mildly oscillatory behavior of the potential in a cone and can allow for arbitrary non-negative bounded potential outside the cone. In particular, we do not require the existence of wave operators. The result and method of proof extends previous work by Laptev, Naboko and Safronov

Moment analysis for localization in random Schrödinger operators

We study localization effects of disorder on the spectral and dynamical properties of Schrödinger operators with random potentials. The new results include exponentially decaying bounds on the transition amplitude and related projection kernels, including in the mean. These are derived through the analysis of fractional moments of the resolvent, which are finite due to the resonance-diffusing effects of the disorder. The main difficulty which has up to now prevented an extension of this method to the continuum can be traced to the lack of a uniform bound on the Lifshitz-Krein spectral shift associated with the local potential terms. The difficulty is avoided here through the use of a weak-L1 estimate concerning the boundary-value distribution of resolvents of maximally dissipative operators, combined with standard tools of relative compactness theor
