Existence of Nearest Neighbor and Variable Range Hopping in PrZnMnO
A joint investigation of X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and Raman spectrum
authenticate the double phase monoclinic P21/n and cubic Fd-3m structures of
polycrystalline Pr2ZnMnO6 (PZM). The existence of two different conduction
mechanisms (Nearest neighbor hopping and Motts variable range hopping) is
observed using a combined study of conductivity, dielectric relaxation and
impedance spectra in PZM. This investigation point towards a transition from
nearest neighbor hoping to Motts variable range hopping mechanism due to
lowering activation energy around 580 K. The charge carriers hopping between
the localized acceptor states at the grain boundaries (GBs), which dominants
conduction mechanism below 580 K. The ac conductivity, dielectric relaxation,
Nyquist plot, and electric modulus highlight the blended effect of grains (Gs)
and GBs leads to the charge carrier dynamics in PZM. The dielectric relaxation
and modulus formalism are analyzed on the basis of empirical Cole-Cole model.
The conduction mechanism is found to be highly correlated with the relaxation
mechanism and impedance spectroscopy.Comment: 15 page
Parallel String Sample Sort
We discuss how string sorting algorithms can be parallelized on modern
multi-core shared memory machines. As a synthesis of the best sequential string
sorting algorithms and successful parallel sorting algorithms for atomic
objects, we propose string sample sort. The algorithm makes effective use of
the memory hierarchy, uses additional word level parallelism, and largely
avoids branch mispredictions. Additionally, we parallelize variants of multikey
quicksort and radix sort that are also useful in certain situations.Comment: 34 pages, 7 figures and 12 table
Probing New Physics via an Angular Analysis of B --> V1 V2 decays
We show that an angular analysis of B --> V1 V2 decays yields numerous tests
for new physics in the decay amplitudes. Unlike direct CP asymmetries, many of
these new-physics observables are nonzero even if the strong phase differences
vanish. For certain observables, neither time-dependent measurements nor
tagging is necessary. Should a signal for new physics be found, one can place a
lower limit on the size of the new-physics parameters, as well as on their
effect on the measurement of the phase of B0--Bbar0 mixing.Comment: 9 pages, plain latex, no figures. Title modified slightly. Paragraph

Digital flight control research
The results of studies which were undertaken to contribute to the design of digital flight control systems, particularly for transport aircraft are presented. In addition to the overall design considerations for a digital flight control system, the following topics are discussed in detail: (1) aircraft attitude reference system design, (2) the digital computer configuration, (3) the design of a typical digital autopilot for transport aircraft, and (4) a hybrid flight simulator
ShapeFit and ShapeKick for Robust, Scalable Structure from Motion
We introduce a new method for location recovery from pair-wise directions
that leverages an efficient convex program that comes with exact recovery
guarantees, even in the presence of adversarial outliers. When pairwise
directions represent scaled relative positions between pairs of views
(estimated for instance with epipolar geometry) our method can be used for
location recovery, that is the determination of relative pose up to a single
unknown scale. For this task, our method yields performance comparable to the
state-of-the-art with an order of magnitude speed-up. Our proposed numerical
framework is flexible in that it accommodates other approaches to location
recovery and can be used to speed up other methods. These properties are
demonstrated by extensively testing against state-of-the-art methods for
location recovery on 13 large, irregular collections of images of real scenes
in addition to simulated data with ground truth
