Stand-alone wind energy conversion system with an asynchronous generator
This paper deals with a stand-alone wind energy conversion system (WECS) with an isolated asynchronous generator (IAG) and voltage and frequency (VF) control feeding three-phase four-wire loads. The reference generator currents are estimated using the instantaneous symmetrical component theory to control the voltage and frequency of an IAG system. A three-leg voltage source converter (VSC) with an isolated star/delta transformer is used as an integrated VSC. An integrated VSC with a battery energy storage system (BESS) is used to control the active and reactive powers of the WECS. The WECS is modeled and simulated in MATLAB using the Simulink and the Sim Power System (SPS) toolboxes. The proposed VF controller functions as a voltage and frequency regulator, a load leveler, a load balancer and a harmonic eliminator in the WECS. A comparison is made on the rating of the VSC with and without ac capacitors connected at the terminals of an IAG. Simulation and test results are presented to verify the control algorithm

Allthe synthesized compounds were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), 1H NMR and mass spectrometry and were subjected toantimicrobial screening against two Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis), two Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichiacoli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa), and two fungi (Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger) using two-fold dilution method. Results and Discussion: All the values of FTIR, 1H NMR and mass spectra were found to be prominent. The results indicate that synthesized compound6i showed potent antimicrobial activity comparable to standard. Conclusion: The detailed synthesis, spectroscopic data, and antimicrobial activities of synthesized compounds were reported. Keywords: Benzofuran, Antibacterial activity, Antifungal activity
A distributed deep learning approach with mobile edge computing for next generation IoT networks security
Along with recent development in Next Generation IoT, the Deep Learning (DL) has become a promising paradigm to perform various tasks such as computation and analysis. Many security researchers have proposed distributed DL supporting DL task at the IoT device level to deliver low latency and high accuracy. However, due to limited computing capabilities of IoT devices, distributed DL is failed to maintain Quality-of-service demand in practical IoT applications. To this end, BlockDeepEdge, a Blockchain-based Distributed DL with Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is proposed where MEC supports the lightweight IoT devices by delivering computing operations to them at the edge of the network. The blockchain provide a secure, decentralized and P2P interaction among IoT devices and MEC server to carryout distributed DL operation

Epidemiology of spinal injury patients admitted to the department of orthopaedics, King George Medical University
Background: Socioeconomic structure, policies and cultural traditions play important roles in the determining the epidemiological characteristics of spinal injury patients. An understanding of epidemiology of spinal injuries is essential for planning and implementation of preventive measures as well as clinical services. The objective of this study is to describe the epidemiology of spinal injury patients admitted to the Department of Orthopaedics, King George Medical University (KGMU).Methods: Age, sex, time since injury to admission, site of injury, mechanism of injury, stability of injury, vertebral level, collision type, visibility, type of road, associated injuries, complications and outcome at the end of hospital stay was recorded. Results: Mean age of the 149 enrolled patients was 33.62±13.47 years. Male to female ratio was 2.63. More than fifty percent (52.3%) patients were admitted more than 48 hrs after injury. Most of the patients sustained injury in the house (59.1%). Falls were the most common mechanism of injury (79.2%). 54.23% of the falls were less than body height. Stable injuries (51%) were more common than unstable injuries. 21.48% patients had multiple levels of injury. 1st lumbar vertebra was the most common vertebra injured (20.88%). Ninty six (64.42%) patients had associated injuries. Most common complication were pulmonary (16.10%).Conclusions: Traumatic spinal injuries predominantly involve young males. Household falls are the most common cause of traumatic spinal injuries. There is a need to determine the modifiable factors that contribute to household falls. There is a significant association between falls and complete injuries.
IN-VITRO FREE RADICAL SCAVENGING POTENTIAL OF FLAVONOIDS WITH SYNERGISTIC EFFECT OF THEIR COMBINATION
The present study was carried out to evaluate the possible synergistic interactions on antioxidant efficacy of some selected flavonoids in the present study, synergistic antioxidant effects of two flavonoids, rutin and quercetin, have been investigated by. DPPH, NO, free radical scavenging assays. Biological free radicals are highly unstable molecules that react with various organic substrates such as lipids, proteins, DNA causing cellular injury. At high concentrations, they generate oxidative stress, a damaging process that can damage all cell structures. At present, the research is focused on the use of antioxidants in preventing many diseases caused by the free radicals. The study was designed to evaluate in vitro antioxidant potential of quercetin, rutin, individually and synergistic antioxidant effects by using various in-vitro antioxidant assays i.e. DPPH, NO, assays. The scavenging effect of quercetin, rutin and standard on the DPPH radical was 83±2.71 %, 79±1.51% and 86±1.04 % at 60μg/ml. On NO Quercetin, rutin and standard exhibited 83±0.09 %, 76±0.09 % and 85±0.22%. The scavenging activity increased in a dose dependent manner. The results indicate drugs shows significant free radical scavenging and their combination demonstrated considerable synergistic effect as compared to standard.

Ultrasensitive Immunosensing Platform Based on Analyte Induced Disruption of Luminescence Quenching (AIDLuQ)
In this study, we design an extremely fast and sensitive immunosensing platform using graphene as the sensing platform. A solution containing a mixture of graphene nanoplatelets and gold nanoparticles was coated on to a copier paper using a spray gun to form a uniform coating. Fluorescent quantum dots (QDs) functionalized with antibodies (Ab) were drop casted on to this platform, whose fluorescence was quenched by the graphene on the graphene/gold paper. With the addition of the antigen to this graphene/gold-QD-Ab complex, a disruption of quenching was observed, and the fluorescence intensity increased with increasing concentration of the antigen. A detection limit of as low as 10 fM was obtained for the detection of human Immunoglobulin G (IgG)
