To this aim we conducted a query in producers in this sector and use these results in our analysis. We have reached remarkable results about this sector in our analysis. Concentration in Kastamonu Halva Production sector decreases with time. Before 2003, market shows oligopolistic characteristics and higher concentration. However then concentration ratios started to decrease and final market characteristics show lower concentration and higher competition. So, in the absence of barriers to entry market structure can change with time

The objective of this study was to determine the ecological risk created by metal contents of the surface sediments of Atikhisar dam, Çanakkale, NW Turkey. Enrichment factor (EF) and geoaccumulation index (Igeo) were calculated to determine anthropogenic effects. Ecological risk was assessed using the modified potential ecological risk index (mPER), with its levels being evaluated using the modified ecological risk index (mER). Toxic effects were determined using the toxic risk index (TRI). The ecological risk indices were mapped to provide their spatial distributions. Our findings indicate that enrichment was very high for Hg and significant for Pb, Tl, Cd, and As. The following mER pattern was detected: Hg > Cd > TI > As > Pb > Ni > Cr > Co > Zn > Mn > V. Hg and Cd exhibited extremely high and very high ecological risks, respectively, while TI and As had a significant ecological risk, with Pb exerting a medium ecological risk. Hg, Pb, Tl, Cd, As, Cr, Ni, Zn, and Cu were enriched via anthropogenic effects exceeding their natural concentration levels. Due to their high toxic effects, Hg, Cd, Tl, As, and Pb were identified as the very high risk elements. Mining, household wastes, agriculture, and natural mineral deposits were identified as the possible sources of the potential ecological risk. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG

Structure-Conduct-Performance Analysis states that market structure has an impact on firm behaviour and market performance. In other words competitive market structure affects firms’ and market performance in positive manner. Concentration ratios which are element of market structure, also affects market performance. There is both difference as well as similarities between competition of football teams and of firms. It is thought that these similarities affect the success of football teams in international arena. The aim of this research is to discuss whether European national league structure affects the performance of teams in Champions League and European League. To this aim, concentration ratios in European national leagues are calculated by using Herfindahl-Hirschman index. These results are interpreted by considering the differences between competition of football teams and of firms. National leagues (Spain, England, Germany, Italy, France, Netherland, Portugal, Belgium, Russia and Turkey) in which football teams are successful in Champions league and European League are studied. It is revealed that concentration ratios are low except England Premier League and have increased at last years. Additionally, the hypothesis which says that as concentration in national leagues decreases the success of teams in international arena increases couldn’t be confirmed

Gender Differences in Wage Negotiations: An Ultimatum Game Experiment

    Get PDF
The gender gap in wages that is accepted as a major economic and social issue, can arise from the behaviours of individuals. The fact that the labor force participation rate of women in Turkey is quite low compared to other OECD countries is also an important problem. Women really may accept lower wages in negotiations. However, perceptions that women may accept lower offers may affect offers made by employers. This attitude of employers may cause a gender gap in wages and a low female labor force participation rate. We explore the behavioural gender differences during bargaining by using the ultimatum game. Altruism, risk aversion, generosity, and self-confidence have a significant impact on preferences and so the results of wage bargaining. The ultimatum game is an effective tool for understanding altruism, risk aversion, and generosity. We found two important results in this study. First; when the proposer knows the gender of the other party, his/her offers to women are lower than those to men. Latter; When the gender of the other party is known, female proposers bid higher than men. These results provide evidence that gender income inequality in the labor market may be due to the attitudes of employers (especially men employers). These results can actually explain why the female labor force participation rate is low in Turkey, but more detailed studies are needed on this subject. This study contributes to the literature as one of the few studies examining the wage bargaining of employers with male and female workers in Turkey

In congruence with the previous research findings, e-satisfaction is a major element of e-loyalty in the growing business of private apparels shopping in Turkey.
