    研修生参画型院内教育において教育委員に求める能力の検討

    研修生参画型院内教育を企画・支援した教育委員の学び・感想より、そのプロセスを明らかにし、教育委員に求める能力を明らかにすることを目的とした。具体的には、本教育方法を担当した教育委員7名に、学び・感想を人10~ 15枚のカードに記入してもらい、K」法により図解化した。その結果、本教育方法のプロセスは、[参画支援要素]と[相互成長促進要素]が循環する「研修生-教育委員の相互成長循環モデル」として表すことができた。教育委員に求める能力として、〈研修生の力を信じる力〉が必要であり、研修生の成長や満足感を知って喜ぶことができ、〈こだわりと決断を使い分けられる力〉〈連携・調整する力〉〈やる気を引き出す力〉が抽出できた

    Internet Chat as Collaborative CALL: Language learning strategies in an Internet Chat class

    This paper describes an internet Chat class in a compulsory Japanese language subject at an Australian university. The study seeks evidence of the use of language strategies relating to social interaction in Chat classes and examines the importance of strategy use in this form of Collaborative CALL. It also presents the way the medium is used in the curriculum as a means of fostering student collaboration. A preliminary survey was conducted to investigate types of strategies used by the students in two specific situations: when they saw an unknown word in their Chat partner s message and when they did not know how to say a particular word. The results demonstrate how students practise the social strategies necessary for collaborative learning through a CALL activity. This is followed by a discussion of the importance and role of social learning strategies in collaborative CALL and possible directions of future studies on internet Chat use in foreign language education

    Getting to know others: an experience of students of Japanese through online chat sessions

    When learning a foreign language, online chat can be used to communicate with native speakers of the target language and to obtain information about that country. Interaction through such a medium often offers the only opportunity for learners to communicate with native speakers, particularly in regional areas where the learning environment provides limited access to the cultural activities and resources on offer in more metropolitan areas. This paper presents an experience of students of Japanese in a regional university through online chat. It examines the information students get to know about Japan and the Japanese and analyses how opinions of their counterparts have been formulated from such a distance and how intercultural understanding has been developed as a result of such activities

    Exploring the implementation of strategies-based instruction in an Internet \u27chat\u27 class

    This paper reports an attempt to implement strategies-based instruction in an Internet chat class which is a part of a compulsory language subject for a Japanese major. The aim of the study was to raise the awareness of the students\u27 own learning, develop language learning strategies and to promote self-dIrected learning as the course has lost face-to-face teaching hours, subjects and teaching staff over the last six vears. After each chat session in which the students communicated with a group of students in Doshisha University in Japan, they were required to evaluate their performance in a self-evaluation sheet in order to develop such strategIes. A sample of two students\u27 entries from their self-evaluation sheets over a few sessions demonstrates their awareness of their own learning and how they made conscious plans and efforts with respect to their learning. The intervention of the self-evaluation sheets, however, raises some questions in regards to the credlblilty of the content that the students reported, the retention of acquired strategies and its applicability to other areas. These are discussed in light of further possible studies. The study also hopes to contribute to further the understanding of Internet chat use in foreign language education
