In this paper, we investigate the relationship between monetary policy and stock prices across advanced and emerging economies from January 1999 to December 2017. We also examine the impact of global monetary policy on the sample stock markets. Using the Structural Cointegrated Vector-Autoregressive model, we explore long-run equilibrium relationship and short-run dynamics of monetary policy and stock markets before and after the global financial crisis. Our results demonstrate that domestic policy rate and stock prices are often not tied together in long-term equilibrium relationships for a majority of the economies. Cross-sectional heterogeneity is observed as the relationship differs in terms of sign, magnitude and adjustment dynamics. Further, US monetary conditions are found to play an important role in influencing global output or liquidity conditions. Short-run dynamics reveal a positive impact of expansionary monetary policy shock on equity prices in those economies where transmission mechanism of monetary policy is weak. Further, we find limited response of central banks to domestic equity price shocks. The influence of US monetary policy shocks in driving equity prices is also found to be insignificant for a majority of the economies

    Get PDF
Aim: This was primarily to examine the effect of premature extraction of primary teeth (PEPT) on subsequent malocclusion and need for orthodontic treatment in the permanent dentition. The secondary aim was to correlate the effect of PEPT with loss of space in the primary and mixed dentitions. Methods: A predefined protocol was developed and registered prospectively with PROSPERO database. The electronic databases, searched, were MEDLINE, EMBASE, PubMed, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. The study designs considered for inclusion were controlled trials, cohort, and case-control studies. Risk of bias was assessed using a validated quality assessment tool. Results: 513 studies were identified. Sixteen studies were included in the systematic review, one study reported on malocclusion, and 15 studies reported on space changes. Narrative synthesis was undertaken owing to the heterogeneity of the included studies. No study examined the effect of PEPT on orthodontic need. Most studies reported on space dimensions used a split-mouth design and were at a high risk of bias. Conclusions: The included literature identified that PEPT led to various features of malocclusion and space loss in the mixed and permanent dentitions. No studies, that met the inclusion criteria, described the effect of PEPT on the subsequent need for orthodontic treatment

With advances in new technologies, mobile devices have grown in popularity to become one of the most common consumer devices. Many of us can make a call or send a message at anytime from anywhere. As our society farther expands, there have been many supports for second-class citizens, disabled. There are a lot of visually impaired persons in and round the world. Physical disability of blind people makes their life difficult. They find themselveschallenging to meet daily challenges independently. One amongst several supports that are urgent is that the guarantee of quality for blind individuals.Several auxiliary tools are available to help blind people. But these could not able to help the user with basic mobile phone features. The main aim of this paper is to help the blind person to use basic features of smart phones by audible feedback and a single shake on this application identifies the location of place through GPS and sends a message comprising this location URL to the registered contacts and also make a call on the first registered contact to help the one in dangerous situations. Continuous location trailing info via SMS helps to seek out the situation of the victim quickly and might be saved safely

Integrated Flight and Propulsion Control for Novel Rotorcraft

    Get PDF
Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP) has increased the design space for aerospace vehicles, especially those categorized as eVTOL (Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing). This new class of vehicles not only looks different from the typical airplane or helicopter, but functions differently as well. A robust understanding of how the vehicle is controlled in both nominal and off-nominal modes will frame the approach to certification for private and commercial VTOL aircraft. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Eagle Flight Research Center (EFRC) is researching how the various methods of DEP thrust control apply to larger eVTOL vehicle operation. Researchers will utilize a mixture of flight dynamic simulation and physical testing in collaboration with FAA experts in rotorcraft handling qualities certification. Outcomes of the research include the characterization of various DEP thrust and moment control methods and how this maps to certifiable vehicle-level attributes like handling qualities in nominal and degraded flight modes. A prototype will be built and tested showing the ability of a quad-rotor vehicle to continue flight after the loss of thrust by failure of one rotor. It is anticipated that a better understanding of the DEP units will help inform the process of certification for the emerging market of urban air mobility vehicles. The data obtained from testing will be utilized to define the possible performance parameters, which will aid in developing appropriate means of compliance for advanced fly-by-wire N-rotor eVTOL vehicles

The construct behind our plan is to implement an android application for the economical management of college bus system. Hence by developing an application like this the overhead along with Bus Management System can get a larger relief. Thus, this application will provide information regarding the whole details of the bus system like Bus Root, Bus Number, Student details, bus Time etc. by storing onto an information. And also this can provide an extra feature of message delivery system for the users (in case if there is delay for the bus) as well as for the management over some circumstances, in addition to that bus locating facility for the passengers. The key advantage is seems to be a gift of modern way of practice which is not common at present

π+\pi^+ photoproduction on the proton for photon energies from 0.725 to 2.875 GeV

Differential cross sections for the reaction γpnπ+\gamma p \to n \pi^+ have been measured with the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) and a tagged photon beam with energies from 0.725 to 2.875 GeV. Where available, the results obtained here compare well with previously published results for the reaction. Agreement with the SAID and MAID analyses is found below 1 GeV. The present set of cross sections has been incorporated into the SAID database, and exploratory fits have been made up to 2.7 GeV. Resonance couplings have been extracted and compared to previous determinations. With the addition of these cross sections to the world data set, significant changes have occurred in the high-energy behavior of the SAID cross-section predictions and amplitudes.Comment: 18 pages, 10 figure

Histologic assessment of biliary obstruction with different percutaneous endoluminal techniques

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Despite the sophisticated cross sectional image techniques currently available, a number of biliary stenosis or obstructions remain of an uncertain nature. In these pathological conditions, an "intrinsic" parietal alteration is the cause of biliary obstruction and it is very difficult to differentiate benign from malignant lesions using cross-sectional imaging procedures alone. We evaluated the efficacy of different endoluminal techniques to achieve a definitive pathological diagnosis in these situations. METHODS: Eighty patients underwent brushing, and or biopsy of the biliary tree through an existing transhepatic biliary drainage route. A subcoort of 12 patients needed balloon-dilatation of the bile duct and the material covering the balloon surface was also sent for pathological examination (balloon surface sampling). Pathological results were compared with surgical findings or with long-term clinical and instrumental follow-ups. Success rates, sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, confidential intervals, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of the three percutaneous techniques in differentiating benign from malignant disease were assessed. The agreement coefficient of biopsy and brushing with final diagnosis was calculated using the Cohen's "K" value. RESULTS: Fifty-six patients had malignant strictures confirmed by surgery, histology, and by clinical follow-ups. Success rates of brushing, balloon surface sampling, and biopsy were 90.7, 100, and 100%, respectively. The comparative efficacy of brushing, balloon-surface sampling, and biopsy resulted as follows: sensitivity of 47.8, 87.5, and 92.1%, respectively; specificity of 100% for all the techniques; accuracy of 69.2, 91.7 and 93.6%, Positive Predictive Value of 100% for all the procedures and Negative Predictive Value of 55, 80, and 75%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Percutaneous endoluminal biopsy is more accurate and sensitive than percutaneous bile duct brushing in the detection of malignant diseases (p < 0.01)
