    Most scientists consider independent work as an essential component of educational process, which involves the integration of different types of individual and collective educational activities. Independent work using the hand-book is a critical component of the educational process, which is carried out as in the classroom, extracurricular classes, without a teacher, and under his leadership.     Effectiveness of Hindman's theorem for bounded sums

    We consider the strength and effective content of restricted versions of Hindman's Theorem in which the number of colors is specified and the length of the sums has a specified finite bound. Let HTkn\mathsf{HT}^{\leq n}_k denote the assertion that for each kk-coloring cc of N\mathbb{N} there is an infinite set XNX \subseteq \mathbb{N} such that all sums xFx\sum_{x \in F} x for FXF \subseteq X and 0<Fn0 < |F| \leq n have the same color. We prove that there is a computable 22-coloring cc of N\mathbb{N} such that there is no infinite computable set XX such that all nonempty sums of at most 22 elements of XX have the same color. It follows that HT22\mathsf{HT}^{\leq 2}_2 is not provable in RCA0\mathsf{RCA}_0 and in fact we show that it implies SRT22\mathsf{SRT}^2_2 in RCA0\mathsf{RCA}_0. We also show that there is a computable instance of HT33\mathsf{HT}^{\leq 3}_3 with all solutions computing 00'. The proof of this result shows that HT33\mathsf{HT}^{\leq 3}_3 implies ACA0\mathsf{ACA}_0 in RCA0\mathsf{RCA}_0

    A study of lectin activity in buds of Sophora japonica L

    Purpose: To identify lectins in Sophora japonica L. (green flower buds, fully formed flower buds, and flower buds as they begin to open) and to study their activity.Methods: Lectin activity was studied using rat hemagglutination method. The protein concentration of the extracts of the agglutinate was determined using Bradford assay.Results: Lectin activity of green flower buds was 1.61 ± 0.11 units/mg protein; fully formed flower buds, 1.81 ± 0.08 units/mg protein; flower buds as they began to open, and 2.05 ± 0.05 units/mg protein. The protein content of extracts from the buds of Sophora japonica L. collected at the stage of green flower buds, at the stage of formed buds, and at the stage of opening flower buds were 3.97 ± 0,04, 3.53 ± 0.07 and 3.13 ± 0.09 mg/ml respectively.Conclusion: This study shows the existence of lectins in Sophora japonica L. buds studied at three different stages of development.     Four Lessons in Versatility or How Query Languages Adapt to the Web

    Exposing not only human-centered information, but machine-processable data on the Web is one of the commonalities of recent Web trends. It has enabled a new kind of applications and businesses where the data is used in ways not foreseen by the data providers. Yet this exposition has fractured the Web into islands of data, each in different Web formats: Some providers choose XML, others RDF, again others JSON or OWL, for their data, even in similar domains. This fracturing stifles innovation as application builders have to cope not only with one Web stack (e.g., XML technology) but with several ones, each of considerable complexity. With Xcerpt we have developed a rule- and pattern based query language that aims to give shield application builders from much of this complexity: In a single query language XML and RDF data can be accessed, processed, combined, and re-published. Though the need for combined access to XML and RDF data has been recognized in previous work (including the W3C’s GRDDL), our approach differs in four main aspects: (1) We provide a single language (rather than two separate or embedded languages), thus minimizing the conceptual overhead of dealing with disparate data formats. (2) Both the declarative (logic-based) and the operational semantics are unified in that they apply for querying XML and RDF in the same way. (3) We show that the resulting query language can be implemented reusing traditional database technology, if desirable. Nevertheless, we also give a unified evaluation approach based on interval labelings of graphs that is at least as fast as existing approaches for tree-shaped XML data, yet provides linear time and space querying also for many RDF graphs. We believe that Web query languages are the right tool for declarative data access in Web applications and that Xcerpt is a significant step towards a more convenient, yet highly efficient data access in a “Web of Data”

    On the strength of the finite intersection principle

    We study the logical content of several maximality principles related to the finite intersection principle (F\IP) in set theory. Classically, these are all equivalent to the axiom of choice, but in the context of reverse mathematics their strengths vary: some are equivalent to \ACA over \RCA, while others are strictly weaker, and incomparable with \WKL. We show that there is a computable instance of F\IP all of whose solutions have hyperimmune degree, and that every computable instance has a solution in every nonzero c.e.\ degree. In terms of other weak principles previously studied in the literature, the former result translates to F\IP implying the omitting partial types principle (OPT\mathsf{OPT}).     Observation of Collider Muon Neutrinos with the SND@LHC Experiment

    We report the direct observation of muon neutrino interactions with the SND@LHC detector at the Large Hadron Collider. A dataset of proton-proton collisions at √ s = 13.6 TeV collected by SND@LHC in 2022 is used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.8 fb − 1 . The search is based on information from the active electronic components of the SND@LHC detector, which covers the pseudorapidity region of 7.2 < η < 8.4 , inaccessible to the other experiments at the collider. Muon neutrino candidates are identified through their charged-current interaction topology, with a track propagating through the entire length of the muon detector. After selection cuts, 8 ν μ interaction candidate events remain with an estimated background of 0.086 events, yielding a significance of about 7 standard deviations for the observed ν μ signal

    Observation of the Decay Λ0b→Λ+cτ−¯ν

    The first observation of the semileptonic b-baryon decay Λb0→Λc+τ-ν¯τ, with a significance of 6.1σ, is reported using a data sample corresponding to 3 fb-1 of integrated luminosity, collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV at the LHC. The τ- lepton is reconstructed in the hadronic decay to three charged pions. The ratio K=B(Λb0→Λc+τ-ν¯τ)/B(Λb0→Λc+π-π+π-) is measured to be 2.46±0.27±0.40, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The branching fraction B(Λb0→Λc+τ-ν¯τ)=(1.50±0.16±0.25±0.23)% is obtained, where the third uncertainty is from the external branching fraction of the normalization channel Λb0→Λc+π-π+π-. The ratio of semileptonic branching fractions R(Λc+)B(Λb0→Λc+τ-ν¯τ)/B(Λb0→Λc+μ-ν¯μ) is derived to be 0.242±0.026±0.040±0.059, where the external branching fraction uncertainty from the channel Λb0→Λc+μ-ν¯μ contributes to the last term. This result is in agreement with the standard model prediction

    Observation of the doubly charmed baryon decay Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+

    The Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+ decay is observed using proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb−1. The Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+ decay is reconstructed partially, where the photon from the Ξc′+→Ξc+γ decay is not reconstructed and the pK−π+ final state of the Ξc+ baryon is employed. The Ξcc++→Ξc′+π+branching fraction relative to that of the Ξcc++→Ξc+π+ decay is measured to be 1.41 ± 0.17 ± 0.10, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic.     Measurement of antiproton production from antihyperon decays in pHe collisions at √sNN=110GeV

    The interpretation of cosmic antiproton flux measurements from space-borne experiments is currently limited by the knowledge of the antiproton production cross-section in collisions between primary cosmic rays and the interstellar medium. Using collisions of protons with an energy of 6.5 TeV incident on helium nuclei at rest in the proximity of the interaction region of the LHCb experiment, the ratio of antiprotons originating from antihyperon decays to prompt production is measured for antiproton momenta between 12 and 110GeV\!/c . The dominant antihyperon contribution, namely Λ¯ → p¯ π+ decays from promptly produced Λ¯ particles, is also exclusively measured. The results complement the measurement of prompt antiproton production obtained from the same data sample. At the energy scale of this measurement, the antihyperon contributions to antiproton production are observed to be significantly larger than predictions of commonly used hadronic production models
