There are a number of issues regarding women’s health, women’s reproductive behavior, fertility impact of reproductive health programs and the effect of gender roles and expectations in these factors. This paper attempts to put together recently available Philippine information that could shed light to these issues. Analysis of national data suggests the absence of gender bias in the utilization of health care services. Planning and maternal care are deemed to have positive impact on women’s health. So is women’s reproductive health on fertility.women's issues, population and family relation, health sector, health care, fertility

Shipping is the most critical globalized trade of the world. Seaport plays a significant role on behalf of the maritime nation for dominating in world trade. Bangladesh is the least developed countries (LDCs) of the world who process the sea area naturally. Cheap labour, available land and excellent maritime access are created good environment to attract the world trader. Moreover, natural disadvantages of sea access and partially or fully land-locked condition of neighbouring countries like India, Nepal, Bhutan, China and Myanmar created the opportunity to do maritime business with them. Facing this derived demand, need to develop seaport facilities and others for earning foreign exchange and minimizing the domestics growing demand. More handling of cargo at port means the more business of the nation. It will create the situation for increasing own flag vessel, shipping business and well structured transport system in the country. This is the economics of maritime transport by which nation can create another source of GDP (Gross Domestic Product). This paper aims to find out the ways how to develop Bangladeshi seaports and they can get economical benefits from maritime business through port transport. Moreover, this document features possible solutions and recommendations for developing the Bangladesh port industry and set out a timely and economical strategy to enable the industry to play a key role in the region. This Comment examines the development of both the environmental justice movement and the traditional environmental movement. It also describes the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) and its application of a market-based incentive program known as emissions trading. This section explains SCAQMD\u27s Old-Vehicle Scrapping Rule 1610 (Rule 1610) and Rule 1610\u27s failure to address environmental justice issues. Section III examines the disparate effects of the program on minority communities. Section IV critiques the way in which oil companies were permitted to use Rule 1610 and how their use resulted in such disparate effects. Finally, Section V proposes that emissions trades be more closely monitored and that environmental justice be the primary factor in the environmental regulation decisionmaking processes

This paper aims to find out the existing port infrastructure and port transport facilities in Bangladesh and its further development opportunities to mitigate the demand of port transport within the country also for regional and international requirements that needs to consider as priority activity. In addition, further development of port logistics for other countries by which Bangladesh can earn foreign exchange that will be added in GDP. Above and beyond, this paper conducts the research of existing port facilities and port performance of Bangladeshi seaports for national, regional and other’s trade demand currently and how efficiency may be increased to follow the performances of ranked port of the world. Role of government, private sector engagement through PPP for reforming the port management are described for developing port infrastructure, roads and highways, easy documentation and others for quick movement of cargo and container to meet the demand of port users. Moreover, intermodal transport services within the country and especially for India, Nepal and Bhutan highly required in the South Asia that may be supplied from Bangladeshi seaports. In here, the major factors like high transport costs, import and export expenses, passage time and others may be reduced through the developments of ports that positioned with the geographical advantages for some countries including landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) of South Asia that is focused by transit facilities by Bangladesh to other countries. Furthermore, this paper makes a case study for Southern China transit and transport arrangement with Bangladesh by which both countries will be benefitted equally. Overall, development process of port transport and its interrelated subject development attributed in this paper to make it useful for all port users nationally, regionally and internationally. Asia is the destination of world trader because of its significance growth and sustainability after the economic downturn in 2008. In addition, South Asia is a place of development because of world giant India and renewed readymade garments manufacturer Bangladesh. Furthermore, Bangladesh is playing a vital role because of her position in the Bay of Bengal as worthwhile sea access points of the South Asia, South-East Asia and South-West part of China. Driven in particular, recent movement of business towards Asia and South Asia, Bangladesh has the opportunity to provide transport service in the region because of its lucrative maritime gateway and extensions of dry port, low cost in managing freight transport also the opportunity to build transport network of rail, road and river. Remarkably, recent development initiative by India exclusively for basically landlocked area Seven Sister or NE part of India, landlocked countries Nepal and Bhutan , additionally , development initiative by China for developing SW part  exclusively by Silk Route, overall, increased the responsibilities of Bangladesh for modeling integrated transport network. This paper is trying to discuss on port reformation, intermodal freight transportation system and related infrastructure development that are required by Bangladesh to do “Transport Business” in the region. Greatly, open access policy for neighbors and international trade and public private partnership initiative for infrastructure development that will create the opportunity for Bangladesh to act as integrated service provider of intermodal freight transportation in the region extremely. However, political openness and stable government along with role of government and attitude of businessman and investors are important to create such structure of intermodal freight transportation in Bangladesh. Lastly, this paper tried to set some future directions on the basis of literature review and discussion on intermodal freight transportation. Experimental status of quaternionic quantum mechanics

    Get PDF
Analysis of the logical foundations of quantum mechanics indicates the possibility of constructing a theory using quaternionic Hilbert spaces. Whether this mathematical structure reflects reality is a matter for experiment to decide. We review the only direct search for quaternionic quantum mechanics yet carried out and outline a recent proposal by the present authors to look for quaternionic effects in correlated multi-particle systems. We set out how such experiments might distinguish between the several quaternionic models proposed in the literature.Comment: 8 pages, no figures, revtex. Towards Financial Inclusion Through Digital Financial Services: Examining the Impact of the ‘Notice and Consent’ Privacy Mechanism

As smartphone ownership and Internet penetration in the Philippines are among the highest in the world, the Philippines is well-positioned to leverage on digital financial services as a means of alleviating poverty. However, with the increasingly active implementation of the Philippine Data Privacy Act (‘DPA’), such potential may not be realised. The privacy regulator, the National Privacy Commission, has consistently set ‘notice and consent’ as the dominant mechanism for data processing in the delivery of digital financial services, directly replicating the European General Data Protection (‘GDPR’) standard. Such replication not only disrupts the delivery and development of digital financial services in developing countries, but also inherently conflicts with the use of Big Data for innovation. Financial inclusion may be better achieved through a test-and-learn, industry-based approach supervised by the central bank. Further, regulation must be designed in proportion to the consumer risks digital financial services pose

Nursing professionals\u27 mental well-being and workplace impairment during the COVID-19 crisis: A Network analysis

    Get PDF
Aim: To investigate the effects of years of nursing experience and mental health on work impairment among nurses during the COVID-19 crisis. Background: During the COVID-19 crisis, nurses experience a greater psychological burden than other health care workers. Studies have not yet investigated the effects of years in nursing and mental health on potential work impairment during the COVID-19 crisis in nurses. Methods: A survey was administered to 83 nurses on active duty during the COVID-19 crisis. The graphical LASSO and the DAG helped estimate the associations between years of nursing experience, mental health and work impairment. Results: A moderate negative correlation emerged between years of nursing experience, avoidance and work impairment. A direct effect was observed between anxiety and work impairment. A moderate positive correlation emerged between anxiety, depression and work impairment. An indirect effect was observed between depression, burnout, insomnia, years of nursing experience and work impairment. Conclusions: In the present sample, nurses\u27 work impairment decreased with greater years of nursing experience and increased with higher anxiety, depression, burnout and avoidance levels. Implications for Nursing Management: These findings can help design effective infectious disease management programmes for students and professionals in nursing to prevent breakdowns and avoid work impairment
