Fondo hemerográfico andaluz de interés veterinario en la Biblioteca Maimónides de la Universidad de Córdoba

Comunicación presentada al XVI Congreso español y VII Iberoamericano de Historia de la Veterinaria, Córdoba, 30 de septiembre, 1-2 de octubre, 2010Se analizan los títulos históricos de revistas publicadas en Andalucía que son de interés para los profesionales veterinarios y que forman parte de la colección del fondo histórico hemerográfico de la Biblioteca Maimónides de la Universidad de Córdoba. La colección ofrece la singularidad de provenir del único centro donde se impartían e imparten estudios universitarios de Veterinaria en Andalucía. Las revistas estudiadas abarcan las primeras tres décadas del siglo XX, período histórico relevante en la formación de las diferentes asociaciones profesionales veterinarias. Su valor patrimonial y de cara a la investigación ha requerido desde el punto de vista técnico un especial tratamiento de conservación y preservación por parte de la biblioteca, que ha establecido los correspondientes procedimientos de trabajo. Dentro del conjunto documental seleccionado, se especifican los títulos, su disponibilidad cronológica en la Biblioteca y las secuencias complementarias existentes en otras bibliotecas, utilizando para ello diferentes plataformas digitales y catálogos colectivos. Por otra parte, se exponen las características físicas de las revistas y su configuración de contenidos

Evaluation process, relegation and weeding in the Maimonides library, University of Córdoba

La gestión de la colección necesita actualmente de herramientas y acciones que contribuyan a su evaluación constante. El objetivo es el de conseguir una colección relevante adaptándose a las necesidades de los usuarios. Entre aquéllas destaca el expurgo. Se analizan aquí los procesos de evaluación, relegación y expurgo de la Biblioteca Maimónides de la Universidad de Córdoba, los factores que determinaron su implantación, su periodicidad, la intervención secuencial de los servicios implicados, calendario y objetivos. Todas las acciones se enmarcan en un proceso de autorregulación de la colección y evaluación constante de la misma. Se exponen las características de la colección de la biblioteca, su origen, evolución, el fondo bibliográfico sometido al proceso y las excepciones contempladas. Se analizan asimismo las acciones previas a la sistematización del proceso, realizadas mediante la donación de duplicados, implementadas en la biblioteca desde su creación. Los resultados obtenidos son considerados un instrumento básico en la gestión de la colección: actualización de la colección de Libre Acceso, liberación de espacios, reestructuración de los mismos, así como de secciones, y mejora de reubicación de los fondos bibliográficos.Currently, the collection management needs a set of tools and actions that contribute to its ongoing evaluation. Its aim is to achieve a significant collection adapted to the users needs. Among the highlighted actions we emphasize the weeding. We analyze the evaluation process, relegation and weeding in the Maimonides Library, University of Córdoba, the factors that determine their location, their periodicity, sequential intervention, services involved, timing and objectives. All actions are part of a self-regulatory process of the collection and ongoing evaluation of it. We expose the characteristics of Maimonides library’s collections, their origin, their evolution, the library holdings under the weeding and the considered exceptions. Furthermore, we develop an analysis of the previous actions, to the implementation of the process, which consisted in the duplicated book’s donations. These actions were put into practice since the library creation. The results are considered a basic tool in management collection, such as the update of the collection of free access, freedom of space, restructuring them, as well as sections, recolocation and improvement of library collections

La Biblioteca Universitaria de Córdoba en Facebook

La Biblioteca Universitaria de Córdoba, ante el fenómeno sociológico que ha supuesto dentro de la web 2.0 la utilización de los sitios de redes sociales en los últimos años, decide abrir una pequeña sucursal virtual en Facebook para estar en contacto con sus usuarios, ofrecer sus servicios y difundir las noticias más relevantes. Este artículo hace un análisis del primer año de la Biblioteca en Facebook. En una primera parte se explica por qué surge y cómo se ha llevado a cabo este proyecto. En la última parte se analizan los resultados obtenidos, basados fundamentalmente en el estudio de los informes que semanalmente envía Facebook. El análisis muestra que la presencia de la Biblioteca en la red social ha sido muy rentable, pero también que se deben realizar algunos cambios a fin de mejorar

Incidence, Clinical Characteristics and Management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Spain : Large-Scale Epidemiological Study

(1) Aims: To assess the incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Spain, to describe the main epidemiological and clinical characteristics at diagnosis and the evolution of the disease, and to explore the use of drug treatments. (2) Methods: Prospective, population-based nationwide registry. Adult patients diagnosed with IBD-Crohn's disease (CD), ulcerative colitis (UC) or IBD unclassified (IBD-U)-during 2017 in Spain were included and were followed-up for 1 year. (3) Results: We identified 3611 incident cases of IBD diagnosed during 2017 in 108 hospitals covering over 22 million inhabitants. The overall incidence (cases/100,000 person-years) was 16 for IBD, 7.5 for CD, 8 for UC, and 0.5 for IBD-U; 53% of patients were male and median age was 43 years (interquartile range = 31-56 years). During a median 12-month follow-up, 34% of patients were treated with systemic steroids, 25% with immunomodulators, 15% with biologics and 5.6% underwent surgery. The percentage of patients under these treatments was significantly higher in CD than UC and IBD-U. Use of systemic steroids and biologics was significantly higher in hospitals with high resources. In total, 28% of patients were hospitalized (35% CD and 22% UC patients, p < 0.01). (4) Conclusion: The incidence of IBD in Spain is rather high and similar to that reported in Northern Europe. IBD patients require substantial therapeutic resources, which are greater in CD and in hospitals with high resources, and much higher than previously reported. One third of patients are hospitalized in the first year after diagnosis and a relevant proportion undergo surgery

Un año de redes sociales : la Biblioteca Universitaria de Córdoba en Facebook

The University Library of Córdoba, due to the sociological phenomenon that has supposed the use of the sites of social networks within web 2.0 recently, has opened a small virtual branch in facebook to be in contact with its users and offer them its services. This article makes an analysis of the first year of the Library in Facebook. In the first part, it is explained why the project has been created and carried out. In the last part the obtained results are analyzed, based essentially on the study of the information that facebook sends weekly.
